This 2021 season, Regina Dondé surprises us with a collection inspired by the tropics. Her new textile designs, 100% organic cotton and hand-dyed, reflect not only the maturity that Regina has reached as a designer, but also the free spirit that has led her to meet millennial ethnic groups, almost totally unknown to our culture.

This holiday season, through the Connect Kids Project we encourage all Homeowners, guests, and visitors of Punta Mita to join in on supporting the local children and their education by bringing school supplies for the children of Punta de Mita. Gift ideas include earphones or headphones for the tablets or laptops they recently received thanks to the Punta de Mita Humanitarian Relief Appeal, teaching materials, colored pencils, coloring books, notebooks, etc. for children aged four years old and up. Visitors can drop their gifts at Casa Mita, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from December 1st, 2020 – January 31st, 2021. The Punta Mita Team will coordinate periodical deliveries to the kids via PEACE Punta de Mita Foundation.

PEACE y Fundación DINE Punta Mita se complacen en compartir que el Llamamiento de Ayuda Humanitaria (HRA) ha apoyado oficialmente a la comunidad de Punta de Mita durante siete meses consecutivos, y no esto no hubiera sido posible sin la generosidad y el apoyo financiero de los donantes. La Iniciativa de Ayuda Humanitaria de Punta de Mita tiene el honor de compartir que a la fecha ha entregado más de 19,000 bolsas de víveres semanales con donaciones que superan los 10,500,000 pesos mexicanos. Durante las últimas 32 semanas, la distribución aumentó de 200 a 830 personas y ahora ha disminuido a 250, ya que la población local ha vuelto a trabajar en diversos sectores. La HRA ahora anticipa y tiene fondos reservados para mantener el nivel actual de este apoyo semanal hasta febrero de 2021 para continuar brindando ayuda a las familias necesitadas. Para responder a las necesidades adicionales de la comunidad y apoyar la educación de los niños locales, la HRA ha iniciado el Proyecto Connect Kids comprando y distribuyendo 533 tablets a estudiantes de primaria / secundaria y 130 computadoras portátiles a estudiantes de
preparatoria mientras continúan analizando los medios para conectar a casi 200 niños pequeños en edad preescolar. El Equipo de Trabajo de la HRA agradece los esfuerzos y apoyo de La Comer, quien coordinó la entrega al costo de los dispositivos. El 19 de Noviembre,2020 se llevó a cabo la entrega oficial ante el gobierno del Estado de Nayarit para dar por concluida la distribución de los dispositivos a estudiantes de las comunidades contando con la presencia del Mtro. José Andrés Rodríguez Domínguez, Secretario de Educación de Nayarit quien, en representación del Gobernador Constitucional del Estado de Nayarit, Antonio Echevarría García, dio fe del proyecto y corroboró que es con acciones como estas que se logra una elevación social positiva durante esta crisis por el bienestar de la comunidad de Punta de Mita.

Today, lodging and food establishments have reinforced their concern for having a quality service with the highest standards of food hygiene and in this way satisfy the needs of customers by offering both the highest reliability and safety in their products and services, for this reason, Punta Mita Beach Clubs were decided to obtain an international certification endorsed by a prestigious institution that would guarantee good hygiene and sanitation practices. We are talking specifically about two certifications from CRISTAL International Standards, the sanitary risk management institution par excellence that establishes a series of sanitary and hygiene standards in food handling which must be met in order to obtain the certifying seal. This important recognition is endorsed by Check Safety First, which is a British company recognized worldwide by the main Tour Operators and Tourism Federations and this international certification is granted to any establishment that meets the most demanding requirements. The objective is to reduce the main health risks associated with water, surfaces, and food preparation, as well as services in the establishment and its staff. Pacífico Beach Club and Sufi Ocean Club went through a process of 3 months of arduous work in the implementation of comprehensive security risk management systems in terms of cleaning, product quality, storage and conservation, food preparation, personal hygiene, waste management, physical state of the spaces to serve food and constant training of the staff. By receiving the FoodCheck and DineChek certifications from CRISTAL, we reinforce Punta Mita’s commitment to taking care of the health of our members and visitors and to continue generating the best gastronomic experiences in the destination, it also encourages us to take on the challenge of joining Kupuri Beach Club and Surf Club to the certification process to continue with hygiene, quality and consistency in all our venues. ¡Viva Punta Mita! Navi Spa is back & we are happy to announce our new Pilates Studio Navi Spa is now offering massages at Kupuri & Pacifico Beach Clubs and has renewed its protocols following the COVID-19 regulations and only offering massage services avoiding any contact with face and hands areas to avoid contact in areas of high risk. Reservations are spaced with 35 minutes in between to secure a full sanitization of the area after each service. We have also opened our brand new Pilates Studio with our master Gabriela Gurrola, a new service now available at Kupuri Beach Club only, the studio is up to 2 guest per session to secure safe distancing and a tailor made experience.

On the other end of the spectrum, older adults often have different medical concerns than they had in their 30s or 40s. Yet many people have no idea that there are specialists just for seniors. Geriatricians specialize in the healthcare needs of people who are aging. “As we get older, our bodies change. The kinds of conditions we have and how those conditions interact with each other differs from what adults under the age of 60 typically experience.”says Punta Mita Hospital geriatrician Dr. Cynthia Arreola, M.D.

There’s no right age to start seeing a geriatric specialist” according Dr. Arreola.

Geriatrics practices usually schedule longer appointments to make sure that older adults have enough time to discuss all of their medical concerns with their doctors. “Those who are trained in geriatric medicine are superb primary care providers, focusing on wellness and preventive health as well as managing chronic medical conditions,” General Director of Punta Mita Hospital, Dr. Luis López, M.D. says.
