Hello, and welcome! Dear Friends, Thank you for joining us to support Drayton Entertainment’s belief that arts education is not simply enrichment, it is essential to preparing young people for life. Now in its fourth year, the High School Musical Production Program welcomed 60 students from 30 high schools, the largest cohort in the program’s history. Guided by professional mentors, they have contributed both onstage and backstage to every aspect of creating this full-scale musical. Thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters like you, this transformative program remains completely barrier-free, with no tuition or participation fees. Why The Little Mermaid? Because at its heart, it is the story of a young person searching for their place in the world. Ariel longs to be understood and is tempted to surrender her voice in exchange for acceptance. The story reminds us that real belonging should never require us to silence who we are and that curiosity, courage, and kindness can bridge even the deepest divides. Sophie Appoo (Ariel) Sophie is a Grade 12 student at Cawthra Park Secondary School in their Vocal Program. She is incredibly grateful to be returning for her second Drayton Entertainment High School Project! Her credits include Mean Girls: High School Version, Vocal Intensive (2025), Triple Threat Intensive (2024), Rising Stars (2026), Future Leader Program (2026), and a March Break Camp (2023). Sophie has been part of her beloved MYTP family for 10 years, performing in over 20 junior musicals. She is endlessly grateful to the teachers, coaches, mentors, and loved ones who have believed in her, encouraged her, and helped make her dream of playing Ariel at Drayton a reality!
Olivia Cadet (Mersister/Princess/Understudy Sebastian) Olivia is a Grade 11 vocal and drama major in the performing arts program at Glendale Secondary School. Olivia made her Drayton Entertainment debut with Dear Evan Hansen and is beyond excited to be a part of this year’s High School Project! Olivia is no stranger to the stage and has performed in many musicals. Select credits include: Oliver!, Anne of Green Gables: The Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone & Mamma Mia!. Isla Calder (Tentacle) Isla Calder is a Grade 12 student at Assumption College School. This is her Drayton Entertainment debut. She has previously performed in her school’s production of Footloose. Isla would like to thank her parents for their constant support and encouragement through this process, and she would also like to thank everyone involved in this production for creating such wonderful long-lasting memories.
Ariadne Deziel (Flotsam) Ari is a Grade 10 triple arts major at Eastwood Collegiate Institute. Drayton Entertainment: Mean Girls, Dear Evan Hansen, Cinderella: The Panto, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita. Other: The Little Mermaid (RCMPI); Cinderfella (ECI); Term 26, Term 27 (KW Glee); Term 1 (Pop Nation Canada). Ari is so grateful to be back on a Drayton stage and to be sharing this experience with such a wonderful cast! Valentina Dixon-Scrigalea (Mersister/Princess) Drayton Entertainment: Debut. Valentina is a Grade 9 student at Eastwood Collegiate Institute, specializing in drama, dance, and vocal. A longtime member of Pop Nation Canada (formerly KW Glee), she was the 2025 recipient of the Logan Brideau Award. Valentina has trained in voice for six years, piano, and various styles of dance, and has participated in Drayton Entertainment’s youth training programs. She has competed at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Musical Theatre and Pop, advancing to Provincials. Valentina is grateful to her vocal coach Amanda Wilhelm, piano instructor Jason White, and dance teachers Miss Donna and Miss Michelle for their support.
Kaiden Durrer (Ship’s Pilot/Ensemble/Understudy Scuttle) Kaiden is returning to Sacred Heart High School for a fifth year. Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy: Debut. Other theatre: George Banks in Mary Poppins Jr, Jack Kelly in Newsies Jr, Beast in Beauty and the Beast Jr, The Little Mermaid Jr, Frozen Jr (Studio 410); Danny Zuko in Grease (SHHS production). Kaiden has spent several years dancing at KMSD. I am thrilled to be part of this show and am thankful to have such an amazing cast and crew. Nathan Fiscaletti (King Triton) Nathan recently graduated from Pickering College School and is taking a gap year to pursue his passion for musical theatre and performing. He is thrilled to be making his debut with Drayton Entertainment/Drayton Youth Academy and is excited to share the stage with this talented cast. Nathan has performed with Marquee Productions in Dear Evan Hansen (2026) as Evan, RENT (2026) as Roger, and Beetlejuice (2025) as Beetlejuice, among other productions. He is grateful for every opportunity to grow as an artist and performer. Mike Gilbrook (Flounder) Mike is a Grade 10 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School and is thrilled to be returning to Drayton Entertainment as Flounder in Disney’s The Little Mermaid! A competitive dancer with Star Performance Academy, Mike is always looking for his next opportunity to perform, learn, and grow. Favourite roles include Glenn Coco in Mean Girls (Drayton Entertainment); Marty in Madagascar, and the Lion in The Wizard of Oz (Star Performance Academy). Mike is grateful to his family for their endless love and encouragement, his vocal coach Ann Moore, and his amazing dance teachers. He can’t wait to bring a little Flounder energy to the stage!
Natalie Huang (Mersister/Princess/Understudy Flounder) Natalie is a grade 10 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School, and this is her second high school project with Drayton Entertainment. She has previously appeared as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls: High School Version, and ensemble in Dear Evan Hansen. A huge thanks to my family and friends for always supporting me!
Madeleine Iley (Ensemble/Understudy Mersister/Princess) Madeleine is a Grade 10 student at St. David Catholic Secondary School and is excited to make her debut with Drayton Entertainment in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Previous stage experience includes: Perfect (Dramafest 2026), school productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2025) and Shrek Jr. (2024), as well as several terms with Pop Nation Canada. Olivia Iley (Ensemble/Understudy Mersister/Princess) Olivia is a Grade 10 student at St. David Catholic Secondary School and is thrilled to be making her debut with Drayton Entertainment in this show. Penny Jamieson (Ensemble) Penny is a Grade 12 student at John F Ross CVI, and she is thrilled to be working with this amazing cast and crew. Brooklyn Kaufman (Ariel’s Guardian) Brooklyn is thrilled to be making her debut with Drayton Entertainment in Disney’s The Little Mermaid! She is a Grade 12 student at SJK, where she is studying Theatre as part of the IB Diploma Programme. Her love of dance began at a young age, and she has spent many years training in a variety of styles. She is a competitive dancer with Performance Dance Academy in Guelph. Most recently, Brooklyn performed in the dance ensemble in The Clockmaker’s Daughter (Singer’s Theatre) and also appeared in her high school’s production of The Crucible. She is incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity!
Kaeden Kim-Hart (Ensemble) Kaeden is a Grade 11 student at Waterloo Collegiate Institute: The Addams Family Musical, I Met a Gentle Soul, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, All I Could Be. He has been participating with Drayton Entertainment since the 2025 winter season: drama company, improv company, Rising Stars. Kaeden is excited to be able to show off this show to all his adoring fans.
Grace Kinsie (Ariel’s Guardian) Gracie is a graduate from Jacob Hespeler Secondary School. Drayton Entertainment: Rising Stars (2026), Dare To Dream Disney Jr (2026). Gracie has also just released her very first single to streaming platforms, titled Better Than Fine, available on Spotify, Apple Music, Prime and more! Thank you for all the support and guidance I’ve received from friends and family! Eden Krawetz (Ensemble) Eden is a Grade 10 student at Eastwood Collegiate Institute. Noah Kropf (Ensemble) Noah Kropf is a grade 9 student at Waterloo Oxford Secondary School and he is thrilled to be onstage with Drayton Entertainment for the first time. His favourite roles include Michael in Matilda and Peter Cratchit (TCP). He would like to dedicate this show to his supportive family.
Quinley Kurczak (Ensemble) Quinley is a Grade 9 student at Grand River Collegiate. Drayton Entertainment: Susan Waverly in White Christmas, Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof, Marta in The Sound of Music, Chorus in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Aelish Lewis (Ensemble) Aelish is a grade 11 student at John F. Ross CVI. She has been onstage with Drayton Entertainment for eight shows, the most recent being Dear Evan Hansen, Cinderella: The Panto, and A Christmas Carol: The Panto. In the summer of 2026, Aelish was a Future Leader supporting Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy summer camps. In her free time she plays guitar and piano and is a member of Pop Nation Canada. Aelish is thrilled to be taking part in her first ever Youth Academy High School Project and would like to thank the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy for everything that they do.
Michaela Mathurin (Ursula) Michaela is in Grade 12 at Glendale Secondary. She is excited for her debut at Drayton Entertainment. At other theatres, Michaela has played Benjamin Coffin in RENT, Mrs. Andrews and Miss Corry in Mary Poppins, Eddie in Mamma Mia! (Glendale Secondary Program of the Arts); Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors (Big Hearts Little Theatre); The Sound of Music, Ursula in The Little Mermaid, and The Drowsy Chaperone (Theatre Ancaster); Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (Curtain Call Production Company). Zack McCall (Ensemble/Understudy Grimsby) Zack is a grade 12 student at Laurel Heights Secondary School and is thrilled to be taking part in his second high school intensive project. Julia McCloskey (Tentacle) Julia is a grade 9 student at Bluevale Collegiate Institute. She is thrilled to be a part of Disney’s The Little Mermaid which is her first production with Drayton Entertainment. She has performed on stage many times in the past few years through Pop Nation Canada and competitive dance. She’s super grateful for all the support from her voice teachers and dance teachers that helped her get to this place in her performance journey.
Sean Mendes (Grimsby/Understudy Prince Eric) Sean is a Grade 12 student and Student Council Co-President at St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener. Drayton Entertainment: Children’s ensemble in Sleeping Beauty: The Panto, The Wizard of Oz: The Panto, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Grace Morton (Tentacle) Grace is a Grade 11 student at St. John’s College. Grace made her Drayton Entertainment debut in Disney’s Dare to Dream (2025) followed by Rising Stars (2026). She has been taking vocal and piano lessons for over 10 years. Grace would like to thank everyone who contributed to this experience and all those who have supported her along the way.
Erica Mota (Ensemble) Erica is a Grade 11 student at H.B. Beal. She made her Drayton Entertainment debut in 2018 as part of the Children’s Chorus in The Little Mermaid and is thrilled to return to Drayton for the High School Project - The Little Mermaid! Other theatre: Matilda (2024) and Newsies (2025) at the Grand Theatre. Erica trains at Needham School of Dance and Youth Performing Arts and recently represented Team Canada at the Dance World Cup in Dublin with World Performers Canada. Tijesuni Olayinka (Mersister/Princess) Tijesuni is a Grade 11 student at St. Mary’s High School. This year, she is making her Drayton Entertainment debut. Tijesuni has participated in NTS DramaFest (2025 & 2026); A Charlie Brown Christmas (St. Mary’s High School), and is the choreographer for her school’s HipHop dance team. Dashiel Pearson (Jetsam) Dash is a grade 12 student at Waterloo Collegiate Institute. He is so happy to be making his return to the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge after being in the company of Mean Girls: High School Edition last year! Sam Sahadeo (Sebastian) Sam is a Grade 12 student at the French high school P.R.D.G. This is Sam’s second performance with Drayton Entertainment, his first being Kevin G. in Mean Girls. Off the stage, you might find him playing volleyball, tennis, golf, or playing music with friends. Sam is so grateful for everyone who helped make this possible, and especially to his parents for always being so supportive.
Lucy Schmitt (Tentacle) Lucy is a Grade 11 student at Southwood Secondary School. She made her Drayton Entertainment debut with Dear Evan Hansen in 2026. She was previously Eurydice in her school’s production of Hadestown, and Jane in an original one act play. She would like to thank her family for all their support and love.
Fiona Short (Mersister/Princess/Understudy Ariel) Fiona Short is a Grade 9 student at St. André Bessette Catholic Secondary School and is excited to be appearing in her sixth production with Drayton Entertainment. She is a member of Pop Nation Canada, a two-time Canada’s Teen Jam finalist, and completed her first musical web series, PHONE, in 2025. Fiona is incredibly grateful for the love and support of her family and friends.
Fiona Smith (Ensemble) Fiona is a Grade 9 student at Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario, with a passion for musical theatre. She has performed in Grand Bend and Waterloo, with Drayton Entertainment in Snow White: The Panto, Dear Evan Hansen, and more. Her Drayton Youth Academy experience includes the Junior Triple Threat Intensive, Dare to Dream – Senior Company, Senior Advanced Acting Company, and more. Fiona thanks David Connolly for opening the door to theatre, and many more mentors. She is deeply grateful to her grandparents and especially to her mom, her biggest cheerleader, for always believing in her dreams.
Nate Snell (Chef Louis/Ensemble) Nate is a grade 10 student at Glendale Secondary School’s Audition-Based Program of the Arts in Hamilton. Previous highlights include: Dear Evan Hansen (Youth ensemble), Adolpho in Drowsy Chaperone, Bert in Mary Poppins, and Major General in Pirates of Penzance. Nate is grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented cast and crew on this production. Julianna Sunga (Ensemble) Julianna is a Grade 10 student at St. David CSS. She made her Drayton Entertainment debut with Dear Evan Hansen (2026). Other theatre: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (SDCSS, 2025). Julianna has trained and performed with KW Glee/Pop Nation Canada for 15+ terms. Violet Sutton (Ariel’s Guardian) Violet is in Grade 12 at St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener. She made her Drayton Entertainment debut with The Wizard of Oz: The Panto in 2023, and is now a Future Leader at DEYA. She has performed in past shows, and is currently directing and co-writing the show for the National Theatre School Festival. She also trains as a competitive dancer at Unity Dance Collective. Jacob Elkins (Fly Operator) Jacob is a new graduate from Kitchener Waterloo Collegiate. He made his Drayton Entertainment debut last year with Mean Girls: High School Version. Jacob enjoyed the privilege of being his school’s predominant sound tech before he graduated, running sound for Legally Blonde: The Musical (2026) and Limelight, KCI’s yearly variety show for three years (2023-2025). Jacob hopes to attend post-secondary school for technical theatre after a gap year and eventually make a career for himself in the theatre industry. She has been seen onstage several times, including Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition (actOUT! KW) and Pop Nation Canada/KW Glee. She has an intense love for the performing arts, but she wanted to gain a more behind-the-scenes perspective and is on the running crew for Drayton Entertainment’s Disney’s The Little Mermaid. the authors Alan Menken (Music) Legendary composer Alan Menken has created some of the most beloved songs and musical scores of our time. His unique voice, as a composer, a lyricist and a musical theater dramatist has captured the imaginations of audiences for over 35 years. Alan’s stage musicals include God Bless You Mr. Rosewater, Patch Patch Patch, Atina: Evil Queen of the Galaxy, Real Life Funnies, Little Shop of Horrors, The Dream on Royal Street, Kicks, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, Beauty and the Beast, A Christmas Carol, Weird Romance, King David, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid, Sister Act, Leap of Faith, and Newsies. He has also contributed to such revues as Personals, Diamonds, and On the Record. Howard Ashman (Lyrics) Best known as a pivotal creative mind behind the renaissance of Disney animation and his work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast (which is dedicated to, “Our friend, Howard Ashman, who gave a Mermaid her voice and a Beast his soul...”) Ashman’s first love was theater. Ashman was a founder of off off Broadway’s renowned WPA Theater, where he conceived, wrote and directed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, as well as the classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors (both music by Alan Menken). In 1986, he wrote and directed the Broadway musical Smile (music by Marvin Hamlisch). Lamented as a lost treasure of the 1980’s theater scene, Smile remains popular on High School and College campuses throughout the country. Howard Ashman died in 1991 from complications of AIDS. Glenn Slater (Lyrics) Glenn Slater (Lyrics) co-created Disney’s 2010 worldwide smash Tangled (2011 Grammy Winner, 2010 Oscar and Golden Globe nominee), as well as the Broadway and international hit musicals Sister Act (2011 Tony nominee - Best Score) and The Little Mermaid (2008 Tony nominee - Best Score, Grammy nominee Best Cast Album), and, most recently School of Rock (2015). With longtime collaborator Alan Menken, he is Executive Producer and Lyricist for the ABC-TV musical comedy series Galavant, and has also written songs for the Disney animated film Home On The Range (2004) and the Broadway musical Leap of Faith (Tony nominee Best Musical, 2012). In the West End, Glenn provided both book and lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies (2010 Olivier nominee - Best Musical), the sequel to Phantom of the Opera. Doug Wright (Book) GLAAD Media Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Drama League Award and a Lucille Lortel Award for I Am My Own Wife. His screen adaptation of Quills was named Best Picture by the National Board of Review and nominated for three Academy Awards. Doug was cited by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and awarded the Tolerance Prize from the Kulturforum Europa. Currently, he serves on the board of the New York Theatre Workshop and serves as Secretary on the Dramatists Guild Council. MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre, and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences. MTI’s Broadway Junior® shows are 30- and 60-minute musicals for performance by elementary and middle school-aged performers, while MTI’s School Editions are musicals annotated for performance by high school students.
