arewell to 2025, our 32nd year publishing magazines for LeMans Corporation. Looking ahead, we’re kicking off 2026 as we have done for many years, with the first issue of the new year revealing all the details of the newest Drag Specialties FatBook cover bike.
The Gator Run
What we are seeing increasingly more often is the impact that Bagger Racing is having in the market for products originally created for competition and now packaged for street use. This year’s FatBook cover honors go to Kodlin USA for its stunning 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide dressed in (what else?) full Bagger Racing trim with an eye-catching paint scheme created specifically for the project in Austria. See the story that begins on page 32. The 19th annual Drag Specialties Dealer Ride, aka “The Gator Run,” was a big success. Nearly 175 Drag dealers, sales reps and vendors from coast to coast gathered in St. Augustine, Florida in late October. If you’ve been attending the Drag dealer rides, you know what great motorcycling experiences they are. If you have been missing out, now is the time to find out for yourself. Next year’s ride will be the 20th annual, so you know it will be extra-special. Talk to your Drag rep soon to get your plans in place to attend.
Dream Rides of Tennessee
Speaking of the Drag ride, one of the highlights of the final event dinners on the rides are the awards. Taking the Dealer of the Year award in St. Augustine were John & Jannine Jessup of Dream Rides of Tennessee. As it turns out, we’re got a story and photos of their successful business starting on page 72. Be sure to have a look. Lastly, January will find most of us together in Louisville for the Spring edition of the 2026 NVP Product Expo. Starting on page 36, be sure to check out the nine pages of previews of the new products you’ll see amid much more in Louisville. Looking forward to seeing you there! ■

In 2025, riders like Hayden Gillim were among those who cashed Drag Specialties checks as the company paid out 65 percent of its posted $75,000 program. MotoAmerica officials and Drag Specialties leadership both expressed excitement for another year of partnership. “King of the Baggers continues to be extremely competitive and a fan favorite,” said Paul Langley, Chairman/CEO of LeMans Corporation. “We’re thrilled to support the racers through our growing contingency program.” MotoAmerica Director of Sponsorship Lance Bryson added, “The series keeps gaining popularity, and 2026 is shaping up to be even better than 2025.” To qualify for contingency payouts, riders must meet branding requirements, including visible Drag Specialties logos, patches on rider leathers, and decals on the bike’s bodywork. ■

A
MA Pro Racing announced its 16-round schedule for the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season. The series is leaning into what made the 2025 campaign great and building upon that momentum via some spectacular additions, including new events, venues, classes and initiatives. The 2026 season will again launch with a string of five successive Short Tracks, delivering another fast, unpredictable opening to the championship. The run begins during Daytona Bike Week with the Royal Enfield Short Track at Daytona, back-to-back nights of AFT Nationals at Daytona International Speedway, with the opening round on Thursday, March 5. The action begins a day earlier with the launch of Road to AFT and the first of seven Mission Foods CTR Showcase Events, held in conjunction with select Progressive AFT Nationals. Operated by Cory Texter Race Promotions, these AMA-sanctioned races spotlight amateur flat track competition and strengthen the pathway from amateur to professional ranks.

“These additions are intended to realign the sport with the core principles that powered the growth of the Grand National Championship,” said AMA Pro Racing CEO Gene Crouch. He noted the renewed focus on the amateur-to-pro pipeline, along with the introduction of AFT StreetTrackers as a way to create new, measurable marketing opportunities for industry partners. otorcycle Industry Council members have voted for Teri Lynn to join the MIC Board of Directors and re-elected Robin Hartfiel, Editor of Dealernews, for another term. Jim Woodruff, CEO of National Powersport Auctions, will conclude his service on the board when his term ends in January.
“2025 has seen some unprecedented challenges to the industry with the threat of tariffs becoming a reality,” said Derek Brooks, MIC Board Chairman and Motorcycle Product Line Manager at Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA. Brooks said the challenges facing the industry are likely to continue into 2026 and beyond. Along with tariffs, the sector will experience significant changes in technology, market trends, and policy. He emphasized that the association remains focused on promoting and protecting motorcycling in the U.S., and he looks forward to the contributions that Teri and Robin will bring to the board. Teri Lynn, U.S. Sales Director at Troy Lee Designs, said being elected to the MIC Board is both a professional and personal milestone. “Being elected to the Motorcycle Industry Council Board of Directors is a tremendous honor and a deeply meaningful opportunity,” Lynn said. “This industry shaped my life long before it became my career, and serving on the MIC Board allows me to give back in a way that supports riders, retailers, and manufacturers.” In this role, she supports MIC by offering a field-informed perspective focused on the rider experience, a strong and profitable dealer network, and the industry’s adaptation to evolving technology, access, and consumer expectations. She is committed to collaboration and initiatives that keep motorcycling inclusive, vibrant, and economically strong. Returning board member Robin Hartfiel emphasized continuity and the work ahead. “Thanks to the vote of confidence from the Motorcycle Industry Council members, it will be an honor to serve on the board for another term,” Hartfiel said. “I have been affiliated with MIC since the early 1990s, when my friend and mentor Don Brown took me to my first Aftermarket Committee meeting. In all that time, MIC staff and leadership have done amazing work. From navigating COVID to getting out in front of PFAS, the challenges to our community continue to mount. Now is when the real work begins.” THE 2026 MIC BOARD INCLUDES REPRESENTATION FROM ACROSS THE POWERSPORTS INDUSTRY:

s a spot on Florida’s First Coast, the city of St. Augustine is well known for being the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the continental United States.
Spanish explorers founded the city in the year 1565, and 460 years later it remains a popular tourist destination due to is well-preserved landmarks like the Castillo de San Marcos fort and the St. Augustine Light Station lighthouse. Motorcyclists also flock to Florida’s coastal locales since they provide plenty of great year-round riding, even as other parts of the country start to settle into the chill of winter. For its 2025 Dealer Ride, Drag Specialties planted its flag at the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort in late October, kicking off the 19th year of running the event. The 2025 Gator Run featured all the hits that make the Drag Specialties Dealer Ride such a spectacular success that it books up solid as soon as it’s announced. times, camaraderie, and exploring and riding the Sunshine State’s fabled beaches and inland waterways. Like all Drag Specialties Dealer Rides, the Gator Run was an invitation-only ride open to Drag Specialties dealers who qualify through the company’s specific sales programs. For the ride’s dip into Florida, nearly 175 dealers, reps and vendors attended. Each one of the Drag Ride’s annual installments follows a time-tested format that includes a Performance Alley – here dubbed Gator Alley – where sponsoring vendors set up booths to offers dealers the opportunity to check out the latest V-Twin parts, accessories and apparel. This informal show also allows for plenty of face-time with Drag’s top vendor/product specialists, and lets attending dealers get their hands on the coveted swag for which the rides are well known. Because of the timing of the ride’s opening day – Halloween – Gator Alley also featured a costume contest that saw some well-known Drag Specialties figures fully decked out (some

where Master of Ceremonies Rob Buydos helped recap the festivities and announced the night’s awards ceremony.
With the first day’s festivities completed, it was time for the main reason for the event – riding motorcycles. For many of those working in the business side of powersports, riding motorcycles often gets back-burnered in the face of keeping things running. That’s why the Drag Ride is such a popular celebration of V-Twin two and three-wheeled fun!
Make no mistake, sitting in the audience during Buydos’ one-man show is a major highlight of the Ride, as is receiving one of the light-hearted honors such as the Pokey Award, the Breakdown Award or the Rode the Farthest Award. All are given out in good fun, with plenty of laughs to follow.
The Gator Run offered three incredible loops spread across two days of riding. The choices included the Amelia Island Loop, the Crescent Beach Loop, and the Ormond Beach Loop. All of them provided riders with miles of picturesque coastline and gorgeous Florida scenery. Each day’s ride concluded with a reception where riders could kick back, enjoy some refreshments and swap road stories before diving into a well-appointed buffet dinner. After the second (and last) day of riding, everyone gathered for the now-famous (infamous?) farewell reception banquet

The biggie of the farewell banquet – and of the Ride in particular – is the Drag Ride Dealer of the Year award. This year it was awarded to John and Jannine Jessup of Dream Rides of Tennessee in Maryville, Tennessee. (Look for the feature story on the Jessups and their dealership on page 72 of this issue). 2026 FATBOOK COVER BIKE
RACE-READY ROAD GLIDE
2026 FATBOOK COVER BIKE
PURPOSE BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE
32
The 2026 FatBook Cover Bike is pure Performance Bagger stance and style, the exact type of bike your customers can build with the Drag catalogs.
O
ver the past few years, Bagger Racing has exploded into one of the most vibrant and unexpected movements in modern motorcycling. Road racetracks, once reserved for purpose-built Grand Prix bikes, now host big touring motorcycles pushing the limits of physics. Riders pitch these machines into corners at astonishing lean angles, squeeze the brakes hard enough to bottom out the front forks, and carry full-throttle wheelies down the straights. Ten years ago, no one would have believed it — today, Bagger Racing has become its own culture, complete with dedicated fans, builders and a rapidly growing aftermarket. But there’s another side to this world, one that’s far more accessible to everyday riders and dealerships – Performance Baggers, street-ready Touring motorcycles that borrow heavily from the parts, mindset and visual attitude of their race-track counterparts. Much of the performance hardware used by professional race programs are also found right in the FatBook, giving dealerships a direct path to serve performance-minded customers.
DRAG SPECIALTIES MAGAZINE
And when you peel away a racer’s number plates, sponsor decals and specialized equipment, what remains is something surprisingly familiar, the modern Custom Bagger. A bike that blends long-distance comfort, aggressive performance and attention-grabbing style. With the right mix of FatBook components, it becomes a machine that turns heads at any gas station, bike night or roadside stop. That philosophy guided the creation of Drag Specialties’ new 2026 FatBook cover bike – a 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide modified by Kodlin USA.
KODLIN: EUROPEAN LEGACY MEETS AMERICAN ROADS To understand the Kodlin-built FatBook cover bike, you first have to understand the builders. The Kodlin name has been influential in the custom-motorcycle world for more than four decades. The brand was founded in 1984 by Fred Kodlin in Germany, where he is widely regarded as one of Europe’s premier custom-motorcycle builders. Kodlin Motorcycles

creations have been showcased internationally and earned a reputation for pushing design boundaries with equal parts engineering skill and creative vision. Over the years Kodlin Motorcycles helped define European custom styling, particularly within the Harley-Davidson scene, and laid the foundation for the Kodlin brand as it is known today. That legacy continued into the next generation through Fred’s son Len Kodlin, who grew up in the workshop and began building, welding and designing bikes at a young age. Len inherited a creative eye that added something crucial for the current marketplace, an exceptional talent for product design. His ability to translate custom inspiration into scalable, premium aftermarket parts has become one of the keys to Kodlin USA’s success. In 2020, Len partnered with longtime industry executive Holger Mohr to launch Kodlin USA. The goal was clear, to

combine Len’s product vision and hands-on fabrication with Holger’s leadership and experience in sales, marketing, operations and manufacturing to create a brand built specifically for the American V-Twin market. Kodlin USA first opened its doors in California before recently relocating to New Braunfels, Texas, a move that placed the company in the heart of America. The Texas Hill Country, a region known for its deep German heritage, is a fitting home, too. Kodlin USA masterfully blends European design sensibilities with the performance and styling demands of American riders. “The way we design parts is a mix of where we come from and where we are now,” Len explains. “It’s German precision combined with the bold style and functionality that American riders want.”

too extreme. The goal was something dealers and riders could relate to.” One example of Len’s approach was the modification of Kodlin’s own NXL Redline Floorboards. Kodlin’s standard version includes red accents, but the color clashed with the direction of the bike’s paint scheme. So, Len stripped the red inserts and powder-coated them to match the Road Glide’s custom palette. This attention to detail carried through the entire build. As with most custom-bike projects, the final piece of the puzzle was paint, handled not in the U.S., but by Kodlin USA’s preferred painter, Marcus Pfeil of Pfeil Design in Ried, Austria.
INSIDE KODLIN USA
2026 FATBOOK COVER BIKE
Kodlin USA operates through a close partnership between Len and Holger, with Len driving product design while Holger oversees the U.S. operation to keep the business moving forward. Len is not only a skilled bike builder, he’s also a very talented one with broad-scoped skills. He welds, paints, machines parts, fabricates components, and builds complete motorcycles from the frame up. But crucially, he is also the brand’s lead product designer. Every contour, radius, and surface of a Kodlin part begins on Len’s workbench or in his design software. Holger manages the day-to-day operation of Kodlin USA. His focus includes sales strategy and dealer support, marketing and brand development, manufacturing oversight and supplier relationships, product planning and the expansion of the Kodlin USA product portfolio. Holger and Len make product decisions together, and nothing goes into production without both signing off on each product. “We challenge each other on every product,” Holger says. “It has to fit the bike beautifully, perform as promised, and look like something you can’t get anywhere else. Above all, we make no compromises on product quality.” Their collaboration is what gives Kodlin USA its distinct identity – modern, refined, performance-minded, and intentionally different from traditional American aftermarket styling.
BUILDING THE COVER BIKE Kodlin USA started with a 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide for Drag Specialties’ 2026 FatBook catalog cover bike, giving it the full performance-custom treatment. Even though many of the parts are direct bolt-ons from the FatBook, Len, as he often does, took the project much further. Holger explains, “The catalog cover bike is more than just a compilation of catalog parts. Len took the bike down to the frame for powder coating. He had his hands on every part; wiring, hardware, fabrication, everything. But we didn’t go
“We’ve done so many bikes together, Marcus was just the natural choice to get the job done,” explains Len. As you can see, the graphics blend multiple tones and styles, merging modern elements with classic custom work. The result amplifies the identity of the project – contemporary performance with artistic European influence. “We wanted to blend two styles,” Holger says. “Some chrome and a touch of Performance Bagger attitude.” “A bike people will look at 10 years from now, and still say, ‘This is cool,’” Len adds. Beyond Kodlin’s own contributions, the cover bike draws from a curated mix of premium components sourced from Drag Specialties’ leading vendors. Arlen Ness supplied brakes, wheels, a carbon fender and performance grips that reinforce the bike’s race-inspired stance. THRASHIN Supply’s triple tree sharpens steering response, while Legend Suspensions delivered updated front and rear suspension that transform chassis feedback and stability. The build also incorporates a Trask billet swingarm for added stiffness, complemented by Covington’s Customs axle hardware and Feuling’s engine fastener kit. A Hogtunes amplifier kit boosts in-fairing audio performance. Supporting components further emphasize the bike’s purpose-built performance character. Bassani’s *(EMIS Code 3) Short 2-1 Road Rage exhaust provides an authoritative tone and optimized flow, while a Custom Dynamics Shark Demon headlight and fog lights improve visibility and illumination. Klock Werks added aerodynamic refinement with a Kolor Flare windshield, and Metzeler Cruisetec tires deliver the grip needed for aggressive riding. Carbon-fiber pieces from Slyfox—including rear fender, side covers and saddlebag components—contribute to weight reduction. Together, the FatBook-listed components on the following build sheet show the breadth of what dealers and their

Drag Specialties Seats’ Freedom Touring seat is available in the special solar-reflective leather, which helps keep the surface cool even on sunny days.
“Riders want a seat to be comfortable so they can enjoy the ride, but a lot are still focused on how it looks and will compromise the comfortable part to achieve that cool look,” says Garen Altman of Drag Specialties Seats. “With the Freedom Touring seat, they don’t have to compromise. They can have both.” That blend of both looks and comfort is possible thanks to the careful design of the Freedom Touring seat. “We achieved this by the shape of the seat; it’s curved and cupped in the right places to follow the body and give more support and contact,” Altman notes. “Plus, the formulation of our foam allowed us to go lower but not lose resilience or density.”

ince its inception in 2020, Bagger Racing has continued to gain competitors and fans around the globe at a pace few would ever associate with an American touring motorcycle. With race series such as MotoAmerica’s King of the Baggers, the Bagger Racing League, and now the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup, along with Performance Baggers emerging from nearly every major shop and even OEMs, attention is quickly turning to the true performance capabilities of V-Twin platforms. The Motul TWIN series offers a complete lubrication system specifically engineered to meet the unique stresses placed on American V-twin engines. Each product is formulated to match the demands of its specific application, delivering optimal cooling, smoother clutch feel, and durable gear protection. Together, they provide balanced, highperformance protection across the entire powertrain.
Motul performance oils and fluids are engineered on the track, resulting in reliable, high-quality products trusted by race teams and riders alike.
The 100 percent synthetic base stock and exceptional thermal resistance of Motul TWIN 20W50 Motor Oil help prevent oil breakdown under extreme heat, torque, and sustained loads, keeping engines protected and running smoothly. This triple-synthetic Ester-based formula features molecular bonding technology that allows the oil to cling to metal surfaces for enhanced start-up protection. It also incorporates extreme-pressure additives, including elevated protective ZDDP levels, and offers excellent resistance to high-temperature deposits and oxidation. of M8, Twin Cam, and Evo engines, Motul’s TWIN Primary Chaincase and Gear Oil and TWIN 75W90 Heavy Duty Gear Oil provide additional advantages. These include improved clutch disengagement and engagement in the primary drive, along with superior shock absorption and load resistance in the gearbox. With the increased demands placed on modern Performance Baggers – particularly in engines, suspension and braking systems – lubricants capable of withstanding higher temperatures, pressures and loads are more critical than ever. “Heat and drag rob your engine of power,” says Jonathan Vnuk, Motul Product Manager - Powersports. “A quality, high-performance synthetic oil can reduce friction and lower engine temperatures. A Motul TWIN three-hole oil change is one of the least expensive performance upgrades you can do for your motorcycle.”
Those same high-quality Motul lubricants used by Bagger Racing League and King of the Baggers competitors are available to your customers. They’re engineered for performance under demanding conditions.

As the Official Lubricant of the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series, and through partnerships with championship-contending teams such as Vance & Hines Racing, Saddlemen Racing Development, Roland Sands Design and ARCH Racing, Motul continues to test and refine a superior V-twin engine oil – giving riders confidence whether they’re pushing limits on the track or cruising on the open road. ■

When Kodlin USA was building the 2026 FatBook cover bike, they wanted rubber with great grip, stability and performance – the Metzeler Cruisetec tires fit the bill.
Several recent Kodlin USA builds have featured Metzeler tires. Holger Mohr, who is a Co-Founder of Kodlin USA along with Len Kodlin, notes that the Cruisetecs strike the right balance for this Road Glide. “Our parts have a bold, modern aesthetic, and we always want the performance to match the style,” Mohr said. “The Cruisetec gives this Road Glide the kind of predictable grip and stability you want from a performance-minded V-Twin tire, without sacrificing comfort on the road.” Since the Road Glide features parts that can be purchased inside the FatBook catalog it graces, the goal was to build a bike that was as functional as it was beautiful. Customers can get inspiration from the way all the parts came together on the cover bike, then work with their local dealer to create their own look. “This bike is built to be a showstopper on the cover, but it also has to work in the real world,” said Len Kodlin. “We paired Metzeler Cruisetec tires with Arlen Ness rims and brake calipers along with Legend Suspensions. In all, when a V-Twin rider chooses Cruisetec tires, they get predictability and performance, whether that’s on a highway or a twisty mountain road. To make it even better, they get it all without sacrificing V-Twin styling. “Riders shouldn’t have to choose between style and performance, and the masterpiece that the Kodlin USA team created proves it,” said Joseph Lee, Metzeler Marketing Manager. “This Road Glide turns heads with its bold design, while the Cruisetec tires give it the confidence and performance to back up those looks on any road. For dealers, this FatBook cover bike is the perfect conversation starter. It shows customers how the right tire can elevate their entire riding experience while staying true to V-Twin character.” ■

he Trask *(EMIS Code 2) Big Papi high-flow air cleaner takes your customers’ Harley-Davidson M8 Touring or Softail models to the next level. It combines aggressive style with proven performance, giving the bike sharper throttle response, improved airflow and a commanding presence on the road. This is a complete upgrade that riders notice the moment they crack the throttle.
The Big Papi is designed as a direct stock replacement for M8 Touring and Softail models. The billet aluminum backing plate features a concealed breather recirculation system for a clean, integrated installation. A rain sock protects the filter in wet conditions without restricting airflow. Installation is straightforward and requires no modification, making it an easy upgrade for your service techs or your DIY customers.
At the core of the Big Papi is a high-capacity, reusable filter paired with an internal velocity stack. This combination moves air efficiently into the engine, improving throttle response and overall engine performance.
The Big Papi is as striking as it is functional. Its exposed filter and billet backing plate create an aggressive, commanding look, while the clear window on the front lets riders see inside the high-capacity filter for a unique Trask-style detail, similar to the popular Assault Charge air cleaner.
Dyno-tested for maximum airflow and system efficiency, the Big Papi delivers consistent, reliable performance under real-world conditions. Riders feel improved throttle response and a more engaging ride – upgrades that are sure to put a smile on your customers’ faces. Every component is engineered to work together, ensuring durability and long-term reliability. “The Big Papi came from a simple need – a larger air cleaner that actually works. Big engines demand volume, proper flow, and real filtration, not thin elements you can see daylight through,” said company founder Nick Trask. “We pushed the design forward on the bike for better fit and rider comfort, and built it with the quality and performance we expect from all of our parts.”
The internal velocity stack keeps airflow smooth while reinforcing the clean, engineered lines that Trask is known for. This is a premium upgrade that enhances both the appearance and function of the bike. It’s available in black or chrome. The Trask Big Papi High Flow Air Cleaner is more than just an upgrade. It improves airflow, sharpens throttle response, and adds bold, aggressive style in a single, complete package. With a reusable filter, dyno-tested performance, and a distinctive visual design, the Big Papi is built for riders who demand more. Every ride feels more alive, and every glance at the bike makes a statement. ■

Art on the Go
Keeping Custom Choppers Rolling
When it comes to the custom Choppers built by Paul Cox, everything rolls on Avon Tyres rubber. Cox builds bikes meant to be ridden, and Avon’s tires provide great performance and handling while looking the part.
I
t feels almost unnecessary to give an introduction for Paul Cox. If you don’t know his name already, chances are good you’ve seen one of his custom choppers. His distinct style blends his love of motorcycles and art, as well as his drive to make sure every client of his has fun on the finished product. And, since the 1990s, Cox has been relying on Avon Tyres to help bring his visions to life. Cox first fell in love with choppers while growing up in the 1970s. Once he got into the scene as an up-and-coming builder, he worked on a lot of BSAs and Triumphs at Sixth Street Specials in New York City. Avon Tyres was a natural choice, since they offered styles that fit those vintage bikes. “It was appropriate to the machines, but a modern tire so that you could hammer on the bikes in the city,” Cox recalls. “Always sticky, and always great for unpredictable New York City streets.” Those early days turned Cox into a huge Avon fan, and when he transitioned to building Harley-Davidsons, that didn’t change. These days, Paul Cox Industries uses Avon Tyres exclusively. “As a builder and as somebody that wants a client to be safe and happy in the long run, I only work with companies that create products that are 100 percent reliable,” Cox says. “Whether it’s my transmissions or the paint that I use, I only use companies I can rely on, and Avon is one that’s at the top of the list.”
58
DRAG SPECIALTIES MAGAZINE
Around 2002, Cox built a chopper dubbed Berserker. He wanted a different, more aggressive aesthetic, and he ultimately chose now-retired Avon Gripster dual-sport tires to complete the look. “Nobody was even thinking of that at the time. It was either vintage stuff or modern tread patterns on choppers,” Cox remembers, adding that dual-sport tires were great for the city, handling everything from dirty alleys to discarded trash with ease. “But it became this thing that people really latched onto when they thought about that motorcycle. That aggressive profile really suited the rest of the bike.” These days, Cox often uses a dual-sport Avon Trekrider tire for builds, though he also uses the Avon Cobra Chrome and RoadRider MkII tires. Getting the right look for a chopper blends Cox’s love for art with his building skills. “The challenge even up to today of building these motorcycles in general is finding that fine line between beauty and performance to create something unique that still does a job and serves a purpose. That’s the beauty in the challenge,” Cox says. And, when it comes to tires, “I’m not going to put something on that isn’t going to be safe and fun in the end.” No matter what bike is coming out next from Cox, it will be on Avon Tyres. ■

or more than five decades, Arlen Ness has helped define what custom motorcycles are supposed to look like. Long before carbon fiber became a performance benchmark, some of the very first Arlen Ness products introduced in 1970 were custom fiberglass fenders – lightweight, sculpted pieces that broke away from factory convention.
The carbon fiber rear fender for Touring models offers a stylish, weight-saving OE upgrade.
Arlen Ness carbon fiber components are engineered to deliver a distinct custom appearance while maintaining factory-like fitment. Each part is constructed from premium prepreg 3K carbon fiber, chosen for its strengthto-weight ratio, uniform weave, and refined appearance. “We are proud to offer our carbon fiber collection through our longtime friend and partner Drag Specialties,” says company Vice President Zach Ness. “Each fender or cover is carefully thought out to add custom style, and install like a factory piece. We use advanced manufacturing processes and rigorous quality control to ensure a quality part that is made to last.” Fitment accuracy is achieved through CNC-machined billet aluminum molds, ensuring every fender and side cover maintains precise contours and mounting locations. This process eliminates guesswork during installation and allows builders to achieve a clean, OEM-level fit while dramatically upgrading the visual impact of the motorcycle. Every component is finished with a high-gloss,

Paired with matching carbon fiber side covers, the rear of the bike gains a seamless, flowing look that ties the saddlebags, fender and chassis together into a unified custom statement. Up front, Arlen Ness offers multiple carbon fiber front fender designs to match different build styles. The Pro Sport Front Fender delivers a performance-inspired look with clean edges and aggressive clearance, while the Café Front Fender leans into classic race-influenced styling with a lighter visual footprint. Full wrapper fenders and wide 18 inch, 19 inch and 21 inch sizes are also available. With more than 55 years of experience in the custom motorcycle industry, Arlen Ness continues to set the standard for premium fit, finish and innovation. These carbon fiber front fenders, rear fenders, and side covers make it easier than ever for riders and builders to bring race-bred materials and timeless custom styling to modern V-Twin machines. ■

Fog Light Kits with Off-Road Style
Custom Dynamics new Shark Demon LED Fog Lights provide popular edgy, off-road styling and brilliant illumination for your Harley-Davidson customers. They provide plug-and-play installation with multiple mounting options.

hen off-road style headlights first started popping up in the V-Twin scene, the look was great, but the functionality was not. Custom Dynamics solved that problem by introducing the Shark Demon LED headlights. The headlights had the aggressive, off-road style V-Twin riders were looking for, but they were designed specifically for Harley-Davidson fitments. The Shark Demon line now includes the new Shark Demon LED Fog Lights. These high-performance fog lights maintain that offroad styling, including a gloss-black aluminum housing designed with fins and exposed screws for an edgy, industrial look. Each fog light kit is available with a choice of a white/clear or selective yellow lens. The white light provides a beam that lights the road ahead as if it were daylight. The selective yellow light is the ideal choice for riding in fog, rain, snow or dusty conditions. Each set of lights has a strong 4140 raw lumens (2080 effective lumens), providing the brilliance riders expect from a Custom Dynamics lighting product. Those lights are safe and sound behind the durable polycarbonate lens and waterproof housing. And, once the lights are mounted, the beam angles can be fine-tuned to shine the light exactly where it’s needed. “Our growing Shark Demon lighting lineup gives riders the aggressive style they crave and the quality they can trust,” says Custom Dynamics Chief Sales Officer Rob

Bluma. “With rugged construction and customizable options, these products let riders personalize their builds without sacrificing durability or performance.” To make it even easier for a rider to personalize their ride, each Shark Demon LED Fog Light kit comes with two LED lights equipped with an 82-inch wire lead plus a plugand-play wire harness. The Harley fitments range from 1994 to 2025 models, and each kit allows the harnesses to plug into the bike’s main cable underneath the seat. And, if plug-and-play installation isn’t an option for a bike, there’s a universal fitment that will suit any 12VDC system. Another feature that makes these fog lights versatile is the variety of mounting options. There’s a P-clamp style mounting kit, which makes it easy to add the fog lights to engine guards with a 1¼-inch inside diameter. The caliper mounting kit is compatible with dual front brake calipers, allowing the lights to be positioned low, where they show the way through corners. For 2023-25 Street Glide models, there’s a special mounting kit to mount the fog lamps to the wind deflector mounting points on the front forks. All of this means a customer just needs to select their bike model and desired mounting location, then order the fog light bundle that matches. It’s an easy solution for dealer and rider alike. ■

he throttle response and lever feel riders want – actually, demand – from their bikes’ twist grip or clutch pull? Yeah, there’s a lot involved there on the power end, but it all starts on the rider end, with cables. Sounds simple, but Barnett Clutches & Cables has devoted more than 75 years to making these simple components bring a motorcycle’s full power to life. With the right wires, friction-reducers and component hardware, Barnett designs and manufactures control cables for smooth operation, low friction and high performance. “This next generation of control cables represents decades of craftsmanship, continual improvement, and direct feedback from riders and racers worldwide,” said Chris Taylor, marketing director for Barnett.
Barnett also offers plug-and-play throttle-by-wire extensions for customers installing taller handlebars on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles. These extensions are available in four lengths up to 20 inches and are designed for a clean, quick installation.
Barnett control cables use stainless steel wire rope with longitudinally wound – what it calls long lay – casing to eliminate flex. The manufacturer adds an inner liner of either Teflon, nylon, or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to smooth the performance and extend the life. For 1987 and later Harley-Davidson models, Barnett clutch cables come standard with its high-efficiency (HE) inner wire, which Barnett introduced to deliver smooth cable action, improved life and the right lever feel. These HE cables use a nylon-coated inner wire that’s prelubed with silicone. There is a style element in the design, too. Along with a classic stainless-steel braid, Barnett produces cables in Platinum Series bright silver, Stealth Series all black and traditional black vinyl finishes. On the Stealth cables, Barnett finishes with black chrome elbows and hardware. For others, Barnett polishes elbows and hardware and adds chrome plating where applicable.
With the right wires, friction-reducers and component hardware, Barnett designs and manufactures control cables for smooth operation, low friction and high performance. And, they come in a variety of finishes too, all of which provide plenty of style points.
Barnett also has a solution for your customers installing taller handlebars on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The manufacturer’s throttle-by-wire extensions install with plug-and-play ease. That means no modifications or soldering. These extensions are available in four lengths up to 20 inches and each extension features a bare end for routing through sharp handlebar bends. Labor of Love
A ’25 Street Bob Dressed in ’70s Style
L
ance Coury’s THRASHIN Supply Company passion is on full display in the 2025 Harley-Davidson Street Bob, dubbed the De-Raked Tough Guy Chopper. Built with co-worker Juan Arceo for the Harley-Davidson YouTube Biker Build-Off, the pair pushed creativity and craftsmanship to deliver a ’70s-inspired chopper under intense time pressure. “When Kruesi from Kruesi Originals called to challenge us, the competition was three months out and I thought, awesome, let’s do this,” says Lance. “The problem is, we had Sturgis during that time, and we had a trip to Virginia City planned, as well as other obligations.” That’s on top of the normal, elastic timeline of any custom build. Even with a compressed schedule, the guys build an amazing bike. So amazing, in fact, that it won the competition!
THRASHIN’s adjustable foot controls were a solid upgrade and aesthetic choice for the ’70s-inspired Chopper. They provide an improved lean angle over stock and great period vibes.
What started as a standard chunky Harley Street Bob got slimmed down, stripped, stylized, and fully chrome plated. That includes the frame, calipers, Feuling intake, primary cover, foot controls, and more. Starting at the front, there’s a 21-inch wheel shod with Skinny Dunlop rubber, supported by slim 39mm forks. Juan designed a custom triple tree, and the frame’s headstock was steepened and raised, hence the “De-Raked” in the bike’s name. “We went with a 26-degree head angle and raised the front about an inch and a half, so it handles like the kind of chopper we like,” says Lance. THRASHIN’s own 10-inch Hole Shot risers support a barebones bar. The Street Bob’s stock controls are chunky and cumbersome, but the Tough Guy has an ultra-clean cockpit. Key to that is a slim single-cable throttle that operates the OEM ride-by-wire sensor that’s been relocated down in the frame. Those unsightly stock switches? They got disassembled and flush-mounted in the frame behind the headstock. “You won’t see them unless you look for them,” says Juan.
An FXR style headlight bucket and brow, FXR tank, custom Saddlemen Chopper seat, and cut-down 1990 FXR rear fender complete the profile. A mind-bending paint job on the tank and fender really set things off. “It’s vivid black with gold leaf, so it has this wild oil-and-water look to it,” explains Lance. A modern Milwaukee Eight 117 has heaps more power than a ’70s 80-inch Shovel, but Lance and Juan still wanted to up the performance. Feuling built a one-off air cleaner, and the bike is using Feuling *(EMIS Code 3) 521 cams and a billet cam chest. The exhaust is a custom x-pipe setup that Lance and Juan made in house. “It was such an intense build,” says Lance, “but I’m so proud of what Juan and I and everyone that helped with this build was able to pull off, and I’m absolutely in love with this bike.” ■

dvancements in engine technology bring a lot of upside to riders and the market overall, but one of the few downsides is the sheer complexity of modern machines. Fortunately, general maintenance tasks like oil changes can remain simple with Maxima’s V-Twin oil change kits. No matter if it’s a modern Milwaukee-Eight or a classic Evolution engine, Maxima oil change kits take the guesswork out of oil changes. Available in full change, quick change or both depending on the application, neither convenience nor quality are sacrificed with this oil change in a box. “Developing our V-Twin kits wasn’t about making another product— it was about taking care of the riders who rely on their bikes every single day,” commented Trevor Reis, Brand Manager for Maxima. “We put our [high-quality] formulas forward because we know every mile matters.” Each kit not only provides the engine oil to get the job done right, but the oil formula and weight included is preselected for each specific engine platform. For example, Evolution kits include mineral 20W-50 engine oil while M8 and Twin Cam kits include synthetic 20W-50. plug O-ring. This is truly a time and hassle saver, removing the need to look up the volume of oil required for each portion of the engine and what the correct oil filter is. Plus, new O-rings should always be part of proper maintenance, but are often overlooked. Quick oil change kits make things simple for those engine oil drain and fill jobs done in between the major fluid changes. These kits include as many quarts as each application needs of the proper weight of engine oil paired with a new ProFilter oil filter and O-ring. Style never stops in the V-Twin world, which is why Maxima includes every detail in its oil change kits, including the option for black or chrome oil filters for most applications. This level of thoroughness – combining convenience and style – will have your customers coming back for repeat purchases. Maxima’s V-Twin oil change kits cover a broad range of applications, including Evolution powered bikes from 1989-1999, M8 powered bikes from 2017-2025, Sportsters from 1999-2022 and Twin Cam powered bikes from 1999-2017. ■

our customers can fill their engines with the highest quality oil available, but if the oil pump isn’t doing its job, it won’t matter. Oiling issues are a known problem for 1999-2006 Big Twins, and later models aren’t exactly perfect, so it’s a good thing that S&S Cycle offers fully optimized TC3 Oil Pump and Cam Plate Kits for early and late Big Twins as well as 2017-and-up Milwaukee-Eight engines. The TC3 is an answer to a noted problem for the early Big Twins. The 1999-2006 (except the 2006 Dyna with its special cam plate) models are notorious for inadequate

oil pressure and pumps that are vulnerable to scoring, as well as imprecise oil passages. The TC3 fixes those issues and piles on plenty of benefits. It is highly recommended with a cam installation and a must-do upgrade if an engine has had any issues with internal debris. The TC3 has a three-stage oil pump for consistent oil pressure and reliable scavenging, with separate scavenge sections for the flywheel cavity and cam chest. “The additional pressure and scavenging are paramount in order to keep the engine well lubricated and to prevent unwanted oil in the flywheel and camchest cavities which can create drag and additional heat,” says Justin Bramstedt, Director of Core Product Development at S&S. S&S also has a TC3 for the new-style setup on the 2006 Dyna and 2007-2017 Big Twins (except 2017 touring models) that offers all the same benefits. The three-stage pump boosts flow by 20 percent on the supply side and 52 percent on the scavenge side, moving a lot more oil through the engine for improved cooling and lubrication. or any bearings getting side loaded. The TC3 is precision machined and helps bring tolerances into spec for reliable operation. Harley kept improving things with the 2017-and-later Milwaukee-Eight Touring Models, but they still didn’t dial things in as well as S&S. “This oil pump has 44 percent more flow on the pressure side and 58 percent more flow on the scavenge side,” says Bramstedt. ocated in Maryville, Tennessee and less than 30 miles north of the 11-mile, 318-turn roadway famously known as the Tail of the Dragon, Dream Rides of Tennessee is an independent V-Twin retailer. The Drag Specialties dealer located 20 miles south of metro Knoxville is known regionally for its stellar customer relations, its quality selection of pre-owned Harley-Davidson models, its attention to detail in servicing bikes, and its dialed-in custom builds. John Jessup is co-owner of Dream Rides of Tennessee along with his brother-in-law and business partner James Sanborn. The two originally opened and still operate a sister business, Team Dream Rides in Stockton, California. How did motorcycles become a part of John’s life? “Like many people, my father taught me how to ride motorcycles,” John says. “Once I rode a motorcycle, I fell in love with it.
“Around Christmas time 2000, I had just turned 21 and went out and bought a 2000 Fat Boy. Nights, I was waiting tables at a steakhouse and making pretty good money, but not the money I needed to have someone else servicing and modifying my motorcycle. So, I went and got a job in the parts department at the local Harley-Davidson dealership, working there during the day while still waiting tables at night. The first few years I worked at the dealership, I spent more money on my bike than I made.

“After a few years working there I opened my first shop called Delta Bike Works with a partner. I was about 23 years old and thought I was smart enough to open my own shop, but it quickly taught me a lot of life lessons about being humble.” Delta Bike Works lasted a couple of years until John and his business partner at the time decided to split. Then, in 2004, he and Sanborn formed Dream Rides in Stockton, California. Flash forward to 2019 and John found himself in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, attending the East Coast FXR Jam. “Like most shop owners, I could never find time to get out of the shop,” John recalls. “But there was a large Facebook group that was into FXRs, and I had been interacting with these people for probably close to a decade, so we decided to come out to the East Coast for our first time and immediately fell in love with the Smoky Mountains.”
Upon returning to California, John reached out to his Drag Specialties representative, Sharon Murphy, and asked her to give him the contact for the Drag rep in eastern Tennessee. “I wanted to be on the Tennessee side because there’s no state income taxes,” he adds. Murphy hooked John up with Drag Specialties sales rep Blake Melton. A few months later John and Blake met at the NVP show in Madison, Wisconsin, and talked in person. They met again at the Louisville NVP show in early 2020 and continued discussions.

“After that meeting I went home still thinking that opening a shop in Tennessee was a pipe dream and something I thought would be a few years out,” John explains.
SOUTHEASTERN EXPANSION In June 2020 John, his wife Jannine, and his business partner Sanborn flew back to Tennessee, spent 10 days looking at buildings that would fit their needs, and ultimately made an offer on a building in Maryville, Tennessee, that came as a recommendation from Melton. They took possession of the property in January 2021 and opened Dream Rides of Tennessee in March 2021. Dream Rides of Tennessee is located in a 7,500 square foot building that consists of 3,000 square feet of showroom, 1,000 square feet of office, and 3,500 square feet of service department and parts storage. They’ve also constructed a 1,200 square-foot out-building, set up four shipping containers for additional motorcycle storage, and have plans to add another 3,500 square feet to the building in the next couple of years.
Check out that mural! As a nod to the nearby legendary 11-mile, 318-curve Tail of the Dragon, Dream Rides had one painted on the side of the building.
The dealership runs on eight employees, including a sales manager, a general manager, two parts specialists, a shippingand-receiving specialist and three technicians who share 10 lifts. “We need every one of those lifts for when you have a big motor build that you’re doing, but then a tire change request comes through the door,” John says. “If you tell that tire job that you’re

Now, if you’re not actively marketing on social media, you’re really missing out. So, we do a lot of social media in addition to the busines we garner via word-of-mouth.

– is really important to me,” John says. “Also, obviously since we can’t afford to stock everything, having the ability to order parts and have them here the next day enables us to better do our business.
“We also just gave away a 2018 Harley Road Glide. Every year we do a bicycle drive, where you get a raffle ticket for donating a kid’s bicycle. So, we’ll take a motorcycle from an auction and contact all of the wonderful companies in the industry and see if they can donate some items to build a custom bike that we can give away.
“And, Blake is definitely a great rep,” he adds. “In addition to helping us out at the very beginning, he really makes sure that we know about all of the programs, the specials, that Drag Specialties offers to really maximize our inventory spend.”
“The number one reason we do that is because we feel blessed to be a part of the community, but it’s also good business strategy to actively take part in and try to improve the larger community.” John’s community engagement appears to be working - the dealership has a 4.8 Google rating with 195 reviews. “What we really just try to do is knock it out of the park with service and really take care of the customers so that they want to come back,” he says. “So, while the primary reason we’re in business is to support ourselves, that can’t be the end goal in this passion-driven industry.”

In November, John and Jannine and the dealership was named Dealer of the Year at the 2025 Drag Specialties Dealer Ride Gator Run in St. Augustine, Florida. “It was a complete shock to me and just a huge honor. I never dreamed that I would be a Dealer of the Year,” John says. “I’m so thankful for my family and for all of our employees because it takes all of those people to make something like this happen.” His rep Blake was right there along for the ride, and the Dealer of the Year honors. “I was so excited to hear John’s name announced as Dealer of the Year at this year’s 2025 Gator Run in Saint Augustine!” says Blake. “John is an amazing human and one of the most passionate I know when it comes to all-things motorcycles. A real down-to-earth gentleman who will speak to anyone from the young guy on a clapped out Dyna to the 60-year-old Hog member on an Ultra CVO. “Dream Rides of Tennessee is the complete package, and John’s team has established the reputation as the go-to independent V-Twin dealership in the area.” ■
Dream Rides of Tennessee has three technicians and 10 lifts in its service department, and counts its service and custom work as major aspects of the business. Technician Dan Silcox is part of the crew that keeps those customers’ bike running.

Oil Appreciation
All Synthetic, All the Time
S
ynthetic oil is often recognized for its consistency and engineered performance under demanding conditions. That mindset guides Red Line Synthetic Oil’s approach to V-Twin applications. The brand focuses exclusively on synthetic formulations, developing premium lubricants with an eye toward performance-minded riders and long-term durability. For over 40 years, Red Line has exclusively used a unique blend of high-performance polyalphaolefins (PAO) and ester-based oil combinations. “We focus on one thing,” says Eric Christianson, Senior Account Manager at Red Line Synthetic Oil, “and that’s the production of highquality synthetic oil.” The Houston-based company got its start in racing, where engines producing as much as 11,000 horsepower reveal an oil’s weakness in mere seconds. Working with such demanding equipment, Red Line quickly learned what formulas could go the distance, and has carried that knowledge over to its V-Twin products.
Oils fall into one of five groups, and technically, synthetic oil is anything from Group III or higher. Even so, Red Line Synthetic Oil only uses Group IV PAO oils and high-performance Group V ester oils. Both lubricants are chemically synthesized, which makes them especially pure, uniform and stable. However, Group IV and Group V oils have different strengths and advantages, so Red Line blends them to achieve the right performance for each application. PAO oils are synthesized from smaller hydrocarbon molecules, and offer a number of key benefits. They have excellent thermal stability, which helps them resist breaking down at high temperatures, like those experienced in air-cooled V-Twin applications. PAOs also have low volatility, making them less likely to burn off. The uniform structure of PAOs also helps them flow well at low temperatures, ensuring proper oil coverage in cold temps, and the molecules are oxidatively stable to provide a long service life. With these strong benefits, PAO oils tend to make up the bulk of the base oil in Red Line’s lineup, but the

Evolution engines, and Twin Cam engines. It’s also suitable for aftermarket options like Baker, JIMS and S&S.
Esters are made by reacting acids with alcohols, and the result is strongly polar molecules that cling to metal. That means the oil stays put on high-speed parts like transmission gears, cam faces and piston skirts to ensure adequate lubrication, even at maximum rpm. Hand-in-hand with that highly desirable surface adhesion, esters have incredible film strength that protects under extreme loads. Add to that very high temperature tolerance and detergent characteristics that help keep engine parts clean, and it’s obvious why esters are such an effective performance enhancer and so common in high-quality oils.
For the primary on 1984-to-present Harley engines including Milwaukee-Eight, Evolution, Twin Cam and aftermarket engines of similar design, Red Line has its V-Twin Primary Case Oil. This lubricant improves clutch operation while reducing wear and temperature for consistent clutch feel. And while some synthetics can be too slippery for proper clutch function, this friction-balanced formula helps transmit torque, even on highly modified and powerful engines.
And high-quality is all Red Line Synthetic Oil does, whether it’s their V-Twin Transmission Oil, V-Twin Primary Case Oil, 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil, or any number of other lubes, fluids, or chemicals your customers might need. Red Line’s V-Twin Transmission Oil with ShockProof is a fully synthetic heavy weight oil with a unique damping capability that reduces the notorious shifting clunk common with Harley gearboxes. This oil provides a thick oil film between gear teeth, resists throw-off, and helps reduce transmission temperatures. performance package wouldn’t be complete without the champion of the synthetic world, esters.
When it comes to the crankshaft, pistons, and valvetrain, Red Line’s 20W-50 Motor Oil is a workhorse. This engine oil harnesses all the potential of PAO and ester chemistry to provide outstanding protection for critical parts. Your customers also get extended drain intervals thanks to the high-quality base stock and excellent dispersants. Going Dark
A Tailored Collection for Performance Cruisers
P
erformance V-Twin riders need more than just aftermarket parts to amp up their bike’s speed and style. They also need gear that sets them apart as riders. The ICON Dark Collection is the new uniform for riders who view cruisers as performance bikes. This collection of blacked-out helmets and gear blends ICON’s irreverent attitude with the high-tech features and armor this type of V-twin rider demands. The ICON Dark Collection is carefully tailored to appeal to the cruiser lifestyle. Instead of ICON’s typical bold graphics and in-your-face color schemes, the Dark Collection focuses more on a blacked-out look paired with performance features and quality construction. “For the performance cruiser segment, which is growing fast, this collection has turned into a reliable and instantly recognizable choice. These are people who tour at speed and expect their gear to keep up, and that is exactly who we built this line for,” says ICON Senior Designer John Whitaker. The helmet range included in the Dark Collection is a perfect example of this blend of features. The Airflite Dark and Airform Dark are both ECE 22.06 certified. Add to that fog-free optics and an internal Dropshield for easy day-to-night riding, and it’s easy to see why these helmets are performance options wrapped in a dark aesthetic. For cruiser riders who want a more aggressive style, the high-end Ultraflite Carbon and AFP Carbon 4Tress helmets have carbon fiber construction and a fit inspired by racing helmets. By combining the Chamonix Vest and Fallblock Flannel, riders get an iconic cruiser look crafted from Cordura denim with leather reinforcements and a D3O Viper back protector. The CE-certified Fallblock has low-profile Ghost armor for a casual look that’s tough against the asphalt. The ICON Dark Collection also includes more classic ICON pieces, like the NeoDaytona, Upstate Canvas and Upstate Mesh jackets. And, for riders who want to be prepared for rainy weather, the PDX3 raingear can be stashed in a saddlebag or tail bag. The jacket and overpants do more than guard against the weather: they’re also built with armor and abrasion-resistant materials.

Engineering the Next Generation Performance Pistons for M8s
KB Motorcycle pistons for Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight engines are designed for the higher demands of modern Harley performance. They are built for longterm reliability and to deliver real-world horsepower gains.
C
elebrating a long and successful history while keeping a focus on the future is a hallmark of United Engine & Machine Co. (UEM Pistons). The company has been building pistons since 1922, but longevity alone isn’t what defines the company today. What continues to set UEM apart is a culture built around innovation and agility, the willingness to evaluate new technologies early and the ability to stay closely connected to customers throughout development. That combination allows UEM to move quickly, shorten development cycles and deliver purpose-built solutions for modern engines with its KB Performance pistons. That philosophy is clearly reflected in the development of the KB Performance Motorcycle Milwaukee-Eight (M8) Harley-Davidson piston line. Modern M8 engines present a very different challenge than previous Twin Cam platforms. Bore sizes continue to increase, reducing available skirt area and increasing the risk of instability and wear. “In the Twin Cam world, you had the same bore size for years,” said UEM’s Marko Glush. “But the M8s are evolving really fast, so we have to keep coming up with new pistons almost every year to accommodate the bigger bore sizes.” At the same time, ring packs are getting smaller and tighter to reduce friction, placing greater demands on piston structure and heat control. Compression ratios are also significantly higher than in earlier Harley engines, which has led to early cracking and durability issues in many factory piston designs. UEM approached these challenges directly. KB Motorcycle M8 pistons are designed with thicker top lands and

DRAG SPECIALTIES MAGAZINE
more robust skirt sections to better manage the higher combustion pressures seen in today’s builds. Advanced skirt coatings are used to mitigate wear as skirt surface area decreases, helping maintain durability even in large-bore configurations. Ring pack geometry is carefully engineered to balance sealing, thermal control and long-term reliability. In many applications, compression ratios are intentionally raised slightly above stock, not for marketing claims, but to deliver the real-world horsepower gains riders are looking for, while preserving the durability engine builders expect. Currently, the KB Performance Motorcycle lineup offers 4.125˝ and 4.250˝ bore pistons for the M8 107, 114 and 117 platforms. This program is driven by more than engineering theory. United Engine has Harley enthusiasts in-house and maintains close ties to the Harley community through its inside sales and technical teams. That connection ensures the company is constantly tracking how the market is evolving and how these engines are being built, ridden and pushed. As the M8 platform continues to advance, UEM’s KB Performance Piston Line remains focused on delivering pistons engineered for the realities of modern Harley performance, backed by a century of experience, but firmly aimed at what’s next. ■

istory will be on display at the Louisville NVP. UEM Pistons will be showcasing the full breadth of its KB Performance Motorcycle piston lineup, highlighting decades in American V-Twin engine design.
From the earliest Panhead, Knucklehead and Shovelhead engines through the Evo and Twin Cam platforms, and all the way to the latest Milwaukee-Eight offerings, KB Performance Motorcycle pistons are engineered to meet the demands of both classic restorations and modern high-performance builds. Each piston reflects UEM’s long history of applying proven engineering principles to real-world engines that must deliver durability, consistency and performance. “Visitors will be able to see how piston design has evolved alongside changes in combustion, materials and manufacturing processes, while still maintaining the reliability builders expect from KB Performance Motorcycle products,” said UEM’s Marko Glush. “Whether the goal is longevity in a street build or improved performance in a high-output application, KB’s lineup is designed with specific engine architectures and use cases in mind.”
Dealers at the Louisville NVP should stop in with KB Pistons and get the full scoop on the company’s history with high-performance V-Twin pistons.
Be sure to ask about the available piston coatings and the benefits they offer. From reduced friction and improved scuff resistance to enhanced thermal control, coatings play an important role in optimizing piston performance and engine life. New Brake Pad Tech for Improved Reliability

nconsistency can be unnerving and intimidating, especially when it comes to motorcycle brakes. Out of all the parts and systems on a bike, riders want to know their bike is going to stop when they pull that lever or stomp that pedal. That’s why GBrakes has brought more innovative design to the V-Twin world. Complementing its VTWIN rotors, GBrakes latest brake pad technology uses bonding steel hooks to create a robust one-piece pad assembly. Referred to as NUCAPS (Non-Uniform Composite Advanced Pad System) with NRS (Nano-Reinforced Steel), this system integrates hooks into the backing plate for the pad material to latch onto. “[Some] motorcycle brakes use an adhesive bonding, which creates a weak point that can delaminate the pads under extreme heat and stress and can lead to inconsistent braking and reduced pad life,” says Sandro Milesi of GBrakes. “With GBrakes NUCAPS NRS pads, the risk of delamination is [reduced] thanks to the mechanical integration of the friction compound into the backing plate.”
The NUCAPS NRS system on GBrakes’ brake pads integrates steel hooks into the backing plate for the pad material to latch onto, creating a robust bonding.
GBrakes’ friction material is formulated for optimal friction balance and minimal dust, making them ideal companions to the GBrakes rotors. Paired with NUCAPS technology, these pads deliver maximized reliability, consistent performance and smooth engagement for miles. Whether customers are upgrading stock components or building a performance-minded machine, GBrakes VTWIN rotors and NUCAPS-equipped pads offer the confidenceinspiring stopping performance every rider deserves. ■

Feuling’s *(EMIS Code 3) BA Air Cleaner Slim ushers loads of air into the engine while being more than half an inch shorter than the standard BA Air Cleaner. “The BA Slim has the same features and benefits as the original BA Air Cleaner, just in a shorter package,” says Feuling owner Luke Leatherman. While the standard BA Air Cleaner is 3-inches tall, the Slim is 2.4 inches. That slimmer profile gives the motorcycle a more streamlined look and offers a little more room for your customers’ legs. At the heart of the Slim is a high-flow air filter and aluminum velocity stack that work together to get a lot more air into the intake ports. “The velocity stack extends the intake runner, which helps across the rev range,” says Leatherman. Software Updates for a Module Upgrade
T
here is a good reason for Harley-Davidson service providers to update their Moto Pro, Moto Mini Pro or Moto Mini American to the latest software. Thanks to a new feature, these diagnostic tools from Can-Do International now enable the module replacement procedure for the SMART TSM (Turn Signal Module) from Custom Dynamics. By upgrading the Moto Pro, Moto Mini Pro or Moto Mini American to software version 33.18, the module swap is easy. Harley no longer makes the stock module for many older models, but the aftermarket one needs a scan tool to connect it to the BCM and ECM. A Can-Do diagnostic tool is that necessary middleman. The OEM TSM is an older design that is increasingly hard to find, while the SMART TSM from Custom Dynamics is modern and convenient. When installed using the Moto Pro, Moto Mini Pro or Moto Mini American, it means older Harleys can now be easily serviced, and there’s no need to search for old parts.
With the latest software update, CanDo’s popular diagnostic tools can help dealers upgrade their customers’ bikes to the SMART TSM from Custom Dynamics.
“This is a big advantage for dealers and repair shops since now they have another option – albeit a much easier to use and affordable one – for marrying a Custom Dynamics TSM/TSSM module to ECMs,” notes Can-Do International’s Victor Rivilla. “Now, with our Moto Pro, Moto Mini American and Moto Mini Pro, repair shops have the most efficient and cost-effective method of getting bikes back on the road.” ■
