Managers’ Message I would like to extend a warm welcome to Liam and everyone associated with Cambrian FC to The Orange Llama Stadium. We hope you enjoy your visit and that we are treated to a competitive and entertaining match between two strong sides. We come into today’s fixture on the back of a narrow 2–1 defeat, a result that was particularly tough to take given the performance the players produced. I felt we were excellent for large parts of the game and more than matched our opponents, only to be undone by a late penalty in injury time. These moments are part of football’s harsh reality, but they also serve as important learning experiences. The character and spirit shown by the group in response has been first class, and I have no doubt we will bounce back stronger because of it. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Harri Edwards and Myles Corson, who have both now moved on to pastures new. They have been fantastic servants to the club and played a big role in our journey. On behalf of everyone at Cardiff Draconians, I wish them nothing but success in the next chapter of their careers. We are pleased to welcome four new players into the squad who will strengthen us for the challenges ahead. Ollie Wylie joins from Pentyrch and is a solid, dependable defender who is equally comfortable at centre-back or full-back. Craig Wilcox arrives from Baglan, bringing with him a wealth of experience and versatility. He is a player I have admired for a long time and I am delighted to finally have him at the club. We also welcome Jack Cooper from Cambrian FC. Jack is a no-nonsense defender with real quality on the ball and I am confident he will prove to be a valuable addition. Finally, Haben Samson joins us from Trethomas. I have known Haben since he was 17 and seen his development first-hand. He is a very talented player with huge potential, and I am excited to see what he can bring to this team. Today we face one of the strongest sides in the league. Cambrian are experienced, well organised and possess a formidable squad, which is why they sit at the top. These are exactly the games we relish. A chance to test ourselves against the very best. Match Report Cardiff Draconians 2-0 Llantwit Major Orange Llama Stadium – 1st November 2025 – Attendance: 220 Match report by Josh Thomas. Goals from Sam Cawley and Oscar Raisbeck ensured Cardiff Draconians ended 2025 with a 2-0 victory after a superb display at the Orange Llama Stadium on Boxing Day. The Dracs started brightly, and, after Dylan Amin’s shot went for a corner, the hosts grabbed a well-deserved opener in the 17th minute. Cawley’s delivery from a corner flew straight in, despite the best attempts of visiting goalkeeper Ryley Allen and Thomas Lillico on the front post. The goal boosted the home side’s confidence, and the hosts nearly made it two from Jacob Benford. The defender’s close-range header was excellently kept out by Allen before Thomas Walbeoff was able to clear the danger away from Dan Bowen as Cardiff Draconians went into half-time with a 1-0 lead. The Dracs sealed the game in style after they grabbed their second nine minutes after the break. Raisbeck, starting his first game since July’s 1-0 defeat with Ammanford, was able to get on the end of Cawley’s corner to head home his first goal of the season and spark jubilant scenes from all corners of the pitch to help the Dracs pick up all three priceless points. Caerau 2-1 Cardiff Draconians Cwrt Yr Alla – 2nd January 2026 Attendance: 307 Match report by Josh Thomas. Former Cardiff Draconians Afc captain Tom McLean scored with a late penalty to help Caerau Ely claim a 2-1 victory in the local Derby at Cwrt-Yr-Ala. On Friday night (January 2).
The hosts had the first chance of the contest after 14 minutes through a well-taken free-kick by Charlie Lewis, which looked to be heading in but Harry Johnson superbly raced across his line and pushed the midfielder’s effort over the bar. The Young Guns went even closer two minutes later when Tim Parker struck the post. The Dracs slowly grew into the game and had their first opportunity through Sam Cawley, who could only direct his shoot wide, before Dan Bowen found himself clean through but he could only shoot into the grateful arms of Exauce Dimonekene. Cawley then fired a free-kick wide before Bowen got to the ball first ahead of Dimonekene, but the ball trickled the wrong side of the post. Just as it looked the half would be ending goalless Caerau Ely broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Oscar Raisbeck was adjudged to have caught Tim Parker and McLean stepped up to send Johnson the wrong way from 12-yards to give the hosts a narrow 1-0 lead at half-time.The Dracs levelled the scores in the 81st minute when they were awarded a penalty after Bowen was brought down by Dimonekene inside the box. The forward stepped up to send Dimonekene the wrong way and put the Dracs on course for a crucial point. But after Johnson had produced a superb double-save from Lewis and Matthew Kimmins, Raisbeck was adjudged to have fouled Oliver Redhead two minutes into stoppage time. McLean stepped up and made no mistake to give Caerau Ely all three points and break Dracs hearts. Interview with Oscar Sometimes in football there are some magical yet poignant moments. There certainly was one on Boxing Day between Cardiff Draconians and Llantwit Major. Oscar Raisbeck, who was playing his first Dracs game since July after losing his father Andrew, in September, grabbed the second goal of a 2-0 win at the Orange Llama Stadium. In front of his family, including his mother Louise Raisbeck and brother Archie, the defender moved his finger to the sky in tribute before he was engulfed by his Dracs teammates in a showcase of solidarity and togetherness. Raisbeck shares his thoughts on returning to action, his goal against the Major, looking back on 2025 and facing Cymru South leaders Cambrian United this afternoon. JT: Oscar, thank you for joining me. It was your first game in six months, how great is to be back in the action? OR: I love being back. I love being around the boys. You know, they’re such a great group. It’s like, I never left and it’s just nice to be back out there playing too much to just enjoy it so much that, yeah, it’s good to be back out there. JT: I heard it’s been a hard time for you, but I know your dad passed away, has it had a massive impact? OR: Big impact. He passed away late September. He was quite a big, big advocate for my football. He came to a lot of games, loved kind of watching me play always very kind of supportive in that sense. So nice to be able today to kind of get a goal for him, especially with my family, my brother (Archie) and my mum (Louise) in attendance as well, which is really, really nice. JT: About that goal it was quite emotional wasn’t it? OR: It was an emotional moment for me, being able to tribute that to him. Especially my celebration as well, it was massive for me. I came in thinking I really wanted to score for him especially, and so to be able to do that is really, really nice. JT: You mentioned your mum and your brother were here what did that mean to you? OR: It means everything. They’re just as supportive and to be able to kind of give them that moment where we all kind of come together a little bit and in that kind of small moment to really kind of think about him it’s really, really nice. So, having them here today was perfect for me, it gave me a bit more drive as well. JT: A great way to end a year with that win. 2025 has been a great year for the Dracs. Winning the Ardal Southern South West title, going above expectations. When you look back at 2025 what does this year mean to you?
OR: It’s amazing for the club what they’ve achieved getting the promotion is so big for them. It’s where, I feel, the club belongs in terms of the support, what they have got going on behind the scenes is so impressive. It’s what they deserve and now that we’re at this level, we’re kind of proving the fact that they deserve to be here and they should be here for a long time. JT: Could 2026 just be as good? OR: I think so. We have the players to do it. We have shown so far in the 2025/26 season that we’re here to compete, and taking that into 2026 would be massive and just really keep pushing and keep working hard, because that’s what we do. JT: Last Friday night with Caerau Ely was a bitter one to take, wasn’t it? OR: A tough one to take. Disappointing to concede two penalties. One that could have been preventable I think. Just unlucky with both of them, could have gone either way in terms of the referee making decisions and stuff, but just disappointing at the end of the day, really. JT: I bet it is. To push them all the way and get that equaliser nine minutes from the end it’s a bitter pill to swallow, especially in a local Derby like that? OR: Especially later on, it felt like a good tackle from myself, many mentioned saying the same thing. But the referee didn’t see it that way, unfortunately. We just kind of have to take it on the chin, I guess, and move on really, try to forget about it a little bit. It’s done now. Try to move on to the next game. JT: Up next is Cambrian, a big home game. Those 3 spaces at the end of the season, it looks like they’re going to be up there, it’s going to be a tough game isn’t it?
OR: Really tough. They’re a really good outfit. They are well organised. They’ve got good players as well. So, it’s always going to be tough. These boys have worked really hard, and we’re in a good place to go and challenge them I think. I don’t think it’s a right off at all, we’re in a good place. JT: We lost 5-2 early on in the season, where our nine-game unbeaten run came to an end, however, it just shows how far the club were before with that run, and then we bounced back and get those wins over Christmas. Just how important is it to keep showing that balance back mentality? OR: It almost motivates us like on nights like tonight where you come out at the wrong end and you want to put it right. So, you know, it’s a bit of a fire for the boys to come back and get the win, especially against such a good side where, you know, you’re kind of going into the game being underdogs and nothing to lose really. So, I think it suits us more. As much as today is painful I think it kind of fires us up for that game and puts us in a really good position to go and really challenge the title contenders.
