I am thrilled to welcome you to a brand-new season and share the fantastic lineup of festive autumn events our Parks and Recreation Department has planned for our community. Our team has crafted a fall calendar full of joy, tradition, and connection for residents and visitors alike.
We will kick off the festivities with our annual Halloween Carnival, a fun-filled evening featuring games, prizes, live music, and our popular costume contest. Following that, we invite you to gather at Dow Park for a vibrant and heartfelt Día de los Muertos celebration. This is a beautiful opportunity for families to come together to honor loved ones through traditional ofrendas, live music, delicious food, and cultural activities.
To round out our fall season, please mark your calendars for the Tree Lighting Spectacular at Patrick’s Cabin Christmas Town on November 20, 2026. This free, family-friendly evening features the lighting of our magnificent community tree, festive carolers, train rides, delicious treats, and a special visit from Santa Claus! This is the perfect way to transition into the holidays. With our new Dow Active Complex now open, we are incredibly excited about hosting even more enhanced Parks and Recreation events in the future. Our commitment to vibrant community activities shines brightest when we gather together. Deer Park Parks and Recreation frequently videotapes and photographs participants enjoying our programs, special events, parks and facilities. These images are used by Parks and Recreation and the City of Deer Park in publications, on the web, for television/cable promotions, or to use as is seen fit. The images are used at the Department’s discretion and become its sole property.
IF PROGRAM DOES NOT MAKE: Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a program does not meet the minimum, the program may be canceled and a refund or account credit will be issued.
IF A PATRON CANNOT MAKE A PROGRAM: Cancellations by customers made five (5) business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. If a cancellation is made after the five (5) business day deadline; a credit will be added to the patrons account in lieu of a refund. Refunds/credits will not be issued if the PARD office is not notified of withdrawal at least 24 hours or 1 business day (whichever is greater) before the start of the program. Refunds/credits will not be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance. Under special circumstances, refunds/credits may be issued outside of these guidelines. Patrons are asked to contact the PARD office in these circumstances in order to obtain refunds/credits.
HOW TO CANCEL: Cancellations can be requested in person, by phone or email to the Parks and Recreation Department office, however written cancellation via email is preferred. Please send cancellations to recreation@deerparktx.org or to the PARD staff member you are working with. To request a cancellation by phone or in person, please call or visit the PARD office Monday – Friday from 8am until 5pm. This advanced notice is required for all programs, regardless of the number of days they are held.
Deer Park Parks and Recreation will assess a $30 fee for any form of remittance returned unpaid, including but not limited to returned or dishonored checks and bank drafts. This fee is in place to recover the administrative and processing costs associated with handling non-sufficient funds (NSF) or other returned payments. Any individual or organization submitting payment that is later returned by the financial institution for any reason—such as insufficient funds, account closure, expired credit/debit cards, or stop payment—will be held responsible for the additional charge. Continued submission of returned payments may result in suspension of program participation, rentals or facility access until the balance is resolved in full.

Join us on October 24, 2026, at Dow Park for a vibrant Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) celebration! This special holiday honors the connection between the living and the departed, allowing loved ones who have passed to enjoy life’s pleasures once more. Families are invited to celebrate with music, food, and the creation of Ofrendas (offerings) to honor their departed. “I put a spell on you…” and now you’re invited to a magical Halloween Carnival inspired by Hocus Pocus on October 31st. Join us October 31st from 2pm–5pm for a family-friendly celebration full of spooky surprises and festive fun for all ages at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center. Join us for Pumpkin Town games, a costume contest, concessions, carnival rides, haunted maze, and more! Join the City of Deer Park Parks & Recreation and community partners for our Arbor Day Tree Giveaway! Residents can receive a free tree to plant at home, while supplies last and limited to one per household. Staff will also provide planting tips and tree care information. Tree species will be announced closer to the event. This year’s event will offer free, native tree saplings to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. By focusing on native species, the giveaway aims to support local biodiversity, attract pollinators, and ensure trees thrive in the region’s natural climate. By planting a tree, residents help cultivate a greener, healthier community for future generations. This Arbor Day, grab a sapling, dig a small hole, and plant the beginning of a big change. There’s no better way to begin the holiday season than at the City of Deer Park’s beloved Annual Tree Lighting Spectacular at Patrick’s Cabin Christmas Town on November 19th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This cherished community tradition welcomes thousands of families each year — more than 4,100 attendees celebrated with us last year — and has become one of Deer Park’s most treasured holiday events. Step back in time and experience Christmas as Deer Park’s earliest settlers might have imagined it. Set against the backdrop of the historic Patrick’s Cabin, known as the Birthplace of Texas, this magical evening combines holiday wonder, family traditions, and local history into one unforgettable celebration. Families can enjoy tours of historic Patrick’s Cabin, train rides through Christmas Town, warm apple cider at the Simeon West Campfire while listening to the classic story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, Santa’s Workshop Craft Station, cookies at Mrs. Claus’ Bake Shoppe, visits to the North Pole Post Office, a petting zoo for children of all ages, and Christmas on the Texas Frontier — a Living History Village with interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities presented by the San Jacinto Historical Commission, showcasing the trades, crafts, and daily life of Deer Park’s early settlers. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment, artisan vendors, holiday shopping, festive characters, and countless opportunities to create lasting family memories. The highlight of the evening is the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00 p.m., held in front of the Municipal Court and Theatre Building at 1302 Center Street. Join this year’s Youth Basketball League for an exciting season filled with fun, teamwork, and friendly competition! The league offers boys’ and girls’ divisions for ages 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, and 13–14. Make a splash this holiday season with Santa at the DAC Indoor Pool! Bring the whole family for a magical afternoon filled with festive fun as kids swim alongside Santa, snap memorable holiday photos, create Christmas crafts, play holiday games, and warm up with delicious cookies and hot cocoa while cheerful holiday music fills the air. Every registered child will receive a special gift from Santa to make the day even more memorable. Choose from one of three one-hour sessions beginning at 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM, or 2:30 PM. FACILITY RENTAL POLICIES — Apply to all rentals. The authorized contact person agrees to these policies and is responsible for all guests.
RESERVATIONS: Must be 21+ with valid driver’s license or state ID. Book in person at the Parks & Recreation office; all changes and correspondence go through the authorized contact person. 2-hour minimum. Reserve 1 week–6 months ahead (JBAC: 1 year). Changes require 1 week’s notice.
PAYMENT: Deposit and fees due at booking. No personal checks.
DURING YOUR RENTAL: Authorized contact person must be present the entire rental and is responsible for violations or damage. Rental hours include set-up and cleanup; renter provides tablecloths. Facilities open 15 minutes before start time; staff will not wait more than 15 minutes after. Place all trash in designated receptacles. Inflatables require proof of liability insurance by 5:30 PM the business day before.
PROHIBITED: Smoking/vaping; wall decorations (décor must be free-standing and removed); alcohol (except JBAC). Indoor facilities: outside tables/chairs, glitter, confetti, powder dust, poppers, open flames.
CANCELLATIONS: Fees non-refundable without 1 week’s notice in person or in writing. Weather cancellations (outdoor) may be rescheduled; no refunds. Deposit refunds: 1–2 weeks by credit card, 3–4 weeks by check; credited to account after 2 weeks of no correspondence. The department may reassign rooms or buildings for programming or emergencies.
Service animals welcome.
In the Maxwell Adult Center and the Claude Burgess Center the floors must be swept and spot-mopped at end of rental; tables and chairs must be put away.
SPORTS-RELATED ACTIVITIES ONLY. Proper attire required at all times: shirts, shorts, and non-marking gym shoes. Bare feet, flip flops, sandals, and dress shoes are prohibited.
Food and drinks are prohibited in the gym. Profanity or vulgar language is not allowed.
Stationary objects (strollers, chairs, car seats, etc.) are not allowed in the gym. Indoor track and fitness areas are NOT included in gym rental. No wall decorations — must be free-standing and removed after event.
Pool will not open earlier than 15 minutes before start time. Appropriate swimwear is required at all times — guests without proper swim attire will not be allowed in the pool. State Health Code requires all guests to shower before entering the pool.
Children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. Only US Coast Guard approved flotation devices allowed. Food and drinks are prohibited in the pool area. Tables and chairs must be left set-up as-is at the end of the event. No wall or ceiling decorations (free-standing only).
OUTDOOR-SPECIFIC RULES: Inflatables require proof of liability insurance by 5:30 PM the business day before the event. Water inflatables, petting zoos, and children’s riding trains are prohibited. Backyard BBQ pits are allowed on concrete only, 15+ feet from the pavilion; dispose of coals properly before leaving. No vehicle- or trailer-mounted BBQ pits. No vehicles on grass or sidewalks. Keep music at a moderate level. Decorations must be free-standing and removed after the event. Place all trash in designated receptacles. Weather cancellations may be rescheduled (no refunds).
