Nestled on the historic riverfront, Marquart’s Landing is not just a restaurant and bar, but also an integral part of Washington’s illustrious history. With its prime location offering the best view of the Missouri River, Marquart’s Landing invites you to experience its excellence in drink making, extensive food menu, and unwavering commitment to service and hospitality.
Stepping into Marquart’s Landing is like taking a journey back in time. Originally built in 1855, the establishment was known as the Pacific House, a name derived from the new railroad line. The purpose behind its construction was to meet the needs of the growing population flocking to the area due to the Pacific Railroad. In its early days, many guests were employees of the railroad, seeking refuge and sustenance after a long day of work. Throughout the years, the building has consistently served as a tavern and hotel, preserving its historical significance. At present, Rick and Karen Marquart proudly continue the tradition of their predecessors, honoring Washington’s rich heritage.
Directly across from the Amtrak station, Marquart’s Landing offers a full menu that caters to every palate. From savory soups and refreshing salads to mouthwatering sandwiches and their legendary pizzas, the options are boundless. Their weekly specials are undeniably a must-try, showcasing the culinary creativity of the chefs.
One of the Landing’s standout features is its amazing drink selection. With three fully stocked bars, visitors can choose to unwind indoors, find shelter in the covered Patio Bar, or bask in the open and spacious outdoor patio. The mixologists at Marquart’s Landing are truly skilled artisans who craft specialty drinks that
delight the senses. Additionally, the bar offers a wide range of draft beers and a tempting array of bottled beverages. To elevate the dining experience, patrons can complement their drinks with tantalizing appetizers such as hot wings, cheese balls, toasted ravioli, and the highly acclaimed French Onion soup.
Marquart’s Landing has been bestowed with numerous accolades, and perhaps one of the most notable is their recognition as the fourth best “Missouri Restaurant with The Most Amazing Outdoor Patio You’ll Love to Lounge On” by Only in Your State. And it’s not difficult to see why. The enchanting outdoor patio with its illuminated trees creates an ambiance that is nothing short of magical. Adding to the charm are the projected sports events displayed on large outdoor walls, ensuring that patrons never miss a moment of their favorite games. Complete with a bandstand for local musicians to showcase their talent, evenings at Marquart’s Landing come alive with live music. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Missouri River to the North and the grandeur of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church to the south, the atmosphere transcends beyond lively, becoming truly breathtaking.
Marquart’s Landing artfully combines the charm and nostalgia of the past with all the modern-day pleasures one could desire. While indulging in the sumptuous offerings on the patio, train enthusiasts can relish the sight of trains passing by or eagerly await their own Amtrak journey. Whether seated inside or outside, sports fans can catch the hottest sporting events, broadcast live for an immersive experience. Visit Marquart’s Landing to experience good food, great drinks, and much-needed relaxation!

A stroll through the Gallery will give you an appreciation of the various towns and ports along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers during the 1800s.
Prior to his untimely death this past November, Gary Lucy had spent over 53 years working at his easel. He was incredibly successful with his artwork and has left behind a tremendous legacy, including several wildlife murals. Washington’s go-to Drive-Thru for fresh-roasted coffee, clean ingredients, and house-made organic syrups—now with eight locations across the region and two right here in town.
Exit 11 Coffee has become a local standout for people who want more than a basic cup of coffee. With every bean roasted fresh in small batches at the Washington, Missouri Roastery and every syrup crafted in-house using clean, organic ingredients, Exit 11 delivers a level of quality rarely found in a drive-thru setting. In fact, Exit 11 is the only drive-thru coffee company in Missouri serving house-made organic syrups, setting a new standard for what fast, exceptional coffee can be.
The menu reflects the same commitment to freshness and care. Guests will find gluten-free and dairy-free options, along with Exit 11’s #1 customer favorite: a hearty breakfast burrito made with nitrate-free chorizo, local eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Pair that with a handcrafted latte, cold brew made with coffee ice cubes, or a specialty drink using one of their organic syrups, and you’ll understand why Exit 11 has earned its reputation as a must-stop for locals and visitors alike.
Behind the speed and efficiency of the double-sided drivethrus is a team known for being fast, friendly, and genuinely professional—greeting regulars by name and welcoming newcomers with the warmth that has become the signature Exit 11 experience. Their “happy hustle” approach has contributed to the company receiving multiple entrepreneurial and coffee

industry awards in just seven short years, celebrating both the brand’s leadership and its high-quality products.
But the roots of Exit 11 stretch back even further. The company’s story began in 2015 when founder Angela Garland opened Exit 11 Workspace, a coworking center built to foster collaboration, creativity, and connection in the Washington community. The unique blend of workspace and great coffee quickly became a local hub, eventually sparking the idea for a dedicated drive-thru coffee concept. While the drive-thrus have grown across the region, the coworking center continues to operate today, serving professionals, small businesses, and remote workers.
Exit 11 remains deeply committed to Washington and the surrounding area, regularly supporting schools, nonprofits, clubs, teams, and community organizations. The mission is simple: cultivate real connections through stellar service, a happy hustle, and carefully crafted coffee.
Whether you’re visiting Downtown Washington, staying in a local vacation rental, or discovering the region for the first time, Exit 11 Coffee offers a memorable taste of the community— locally roasted, thoughtfully crafted, and served with purpose. Washington is home to two convenient drive-thru locations: 1403 Jefferson Street and 1900 Phoenix Drive. Stop by and experience why Exit 11 Coffee continues to grow, one cup at a time.

Patrons of the Arts: Supporting Creativity at East Central College
Over the course of a semester at East Central College, the campus fills in different ways. A performance takes shape on stage. A discussion unfolds in a classroom. An art exhibition draws a crowd to hear from the featured artist.
Much of that work is supported through the Patrons of the Arts program, supported by the East Central College Foundation. The Patrons of the Arts is a way for community members to support the creative, academic, and cultural activity that happens across campus throughout the year. Over time, that support has helped fund hundreds of performances, exhibitions, films, lectures, and events.
Membership also includes early ticket access, free tickets, invitations to special events, and an annual kickoff each June that marks the start of the new season.
The following programs are supported through the Patrons of the Arts program:
Film and Lecture – The Film and Lecture Series brings films, authors, scholars, journalists, and poets to campus throughout the year. The events are designed to complement coursework while giving audiences the chance to engage with ideas, ask questions, and take part in discussion.
Art – The East Central College Art Gallery functions as both a learning space and a public gallery. Exhibitions support art and design students while also serving faculty, staff, and community visitors giving viewers an opportunity to reflect and engage with visual work in a meaningful way.
Music – ECC’s music program combines academic instruction with regular performance opportunities. Students take part in solo and ensemble concerts, festivals, workshops, and guest artist performances throughout the year. The program is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music and contributes consistently to the cultural life of campus and the surrounding community.
Theatre – The department produces 5 mainstage shows each year, offering students experience both on stage and behind the scenes. For audiences, the productions provide access to engaging live theatre close to home.
Social Sciences – The Social Sciences programs regularly host lectures, forums, and discussions that connect academic study with real-world issues. These programs create space for conversation and help place current issues within a broader historical and social context.
Culinary Arts – In the Culinary Arts program, learning happens in a working restaurant. Through The Restaurant at Prairie Dell, students rotate through every aspect of food service, from the kitchen to the dining room. The experience gives students a practical understanding of the industry while allowing guests to see the educational process in action.
Membership support helps sustain the programs and events that continue to shape campus life and provide learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.
Additional information about becoming a Patron is available at eastcentral.edu or by contacting the ECC Foundation at 636-584-6506 or foundation@eastcentral.edu.
