Australia’s Currency Crossroads!

Superbly presented, eminently historic and utterly complete, this impressive set comprises the LAST dated coins of the predecimal era and the FIRST dated coins of the decimal era!

The final dates of their denominations, the set includes the 1963 Sixpence, Shilling & Florin, and 1964 Halfpenny, Penny & Threepence. Bearing the first coinage portrait of Elizabeth II, by Mary Gillick, these ‘last issue’ dates

are united with the first decimal coins. This includes the 1966 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c & Silver Round 50c, each carrying Arnold Machin’s portrait of the Queen.

In Uncirculated condition, the twelve coins are housed within a sturdy, informative hardback portfolio.

A lasting keepsake of the greatest milestone in Australian currency history, this surprisingly affordable set comprises the LAST six predecimal coin types, united with the FIRST six decimal coin types!

Struck during the early years of the reign of Elizabeth II, from 1953 to 1964, the set includes the copper halfpenny & penny, plus silver threepence, sixpence, shilling & florin

– dates of our choice. The perfect partners, the set also includes the 1966 Silver Round 50c, united with the 1966-84 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c & 20c – dates of our choice.

Housed within an illustrated, informative presentation folder, the twelve coins grade from Very Fine to Uncirculated.

First dates in Gem Unc!

Such was the magnitude of the changeover to decimal currency, the RAM was assisted by the Perth Mint and Royal Mint to get the job done. A great opportunity to secure Australia’s first decimal dates in sensational quality, we have the Royal Mint 1966 10c & 20c and Perth Mint 1966 1c & 2c in Gem Uncirculated condition!

Struck at Royal Mint, London, as Britain assisted Australia in the decimal changeover, the 1966 Wavy ‘2’ 20c is one of Australia’s rarest issued decimal types.

Recognised by the obvious upward curve on top of baseline of the ‘2’ in ‘20’, this famous Variety is scarce in any grade, and rare in superior quality. With a small number of premium grade examples available, you must grasp this opportunity with both hands!

Struck at the Calcutta Mint in the last year of WWI, and featuring the Mint’s ‘I’ (India) mintmark below the scroll on the reverse, the 1918I Halfpenny is one of the key dates of the Australian 1910-64 Predecimal Series.

The second rarest Australian halfpenny, behind only the 1923, this crucial George V issue is scarce in any condition. Graded by leading independent coin verifiers PCGS as Cleaned Unc Detail, and distinguished by a full centre diamond and eight clear pearls upon the King’s crown, we have just one example available.

Predecimal Proofs from the

Prestigious, historic and rare, we are delighted to present every issue in the Perth Mint 1955-63 Predecimal Proof Series!

Magnificent to behold ‘in the flesh’, Perth Mint

Halfpenny & Penny Proofs are underpinned by a solid, entrancing orange hue, with flawless fields playing host razor-sharp designs. However, despite the fact that these are some of the finest coins ever created in Australia, the extreme rarity is perhaps the most defining characteristic of the series.

Perth Proofs were issued in tiny numbers. The lowest mintage (1955) is just 301, and even the highest (1957) is a mere 1,112! And, as the coins were offered in basic packaging, suffering exposure to air and unwanted handling, most are no longer ‘first quality’. Some estimate that as few as 30-40% remain in original, firstclass condition, as here.

An outstanding opportunity, we have every Perth Mint 1955-63 Proof issue in superb FDC quality! Limited stocks available!

Every set from 1953 to 1964!

The last chapter of Australia’s first national currency system, we are delighted to present every Queen Elizabeth II Predecimal Year Set from 1953 to 1964!

In 1953, the first coinage of Elizabeth II was unveiled. Bearing the portrait of the Queen by Mary Gillick, that coinage included the halfpenny & penny, united with the silver threepence, sixpence, shilling & florin. As fate would have it, these would be Australia’s final predecimal types – the very last coins issued before the changeover to the decimal system, exactly 60 years ago.

Whether as a memento of a major milestone in Australian history, or to celebrate an important year in your own life or that of someone special, Elizabeth II Predecimal Year Sets are perfect –especially given the splendid presentation! Comprising the coins struck in the particular year, each set is housed in an illustrated, informative, hardback portfolio.

While you can read about the history of Ancient Rome, and the tales of betrayal, murder and depravity, holding a genuine Roman coin is to hold that history in your very own hands! And, contrary to the belief of many, not all Roman coins are rare, and many are astonishingly affordable – as illustrated by the selection seen here.

Headlined by an impressive portrait type of Emperor Lucius Verus – who was cut down by the plague during Rome’s battle with a host of Germanic tribes in the Marcomannic War – we have a superb variety of authentic Ancient Roman coins available.
