Hello Poole, Dare I say it but we are fast approaching that festive time of year… Indeed we are looking forward to taking our Hayden to see Father Christmas at Paultons Park for his Birthday this year. As he will be 9 I reckon this is my last chance! Imagine my surprise a few weeks ago when I got a phone call from Father Christmas - it turned out to be a lovely local man who has played the part every season for over 60 years! I am sure I had that same ‘trip of the heart’ when he said who he was. Do we ever really grow up? As you might be thinking of opening your doors to the family… or perhaps escaping to other parts… perhaps a few things need doing around the house or garden? If you are anything like us, ‘spare’ time seems to be getting less and less. Why not let someone else do the work for you? You will find The Poole Directory full of local tradespeople who are more than willing to give you a hand to make this year’s special season a great success. PANTO TIME: SLEEPING BEAUTY BOURNEMOUTH PAVILION THEATRE SAT 8 DECEMBER 2012 – SUN 6 JANUARY 2013
Pantomime season returns to the Bournemouth Pavilion from Saturday 8 December as we welcome Sleeping Beauty. This year’s offering is once again brought to you by UK Productions following a record-breaking production of Jack and the Beanstalk last year. Returning to once again write, direct and star is venue favourite and Bournemouth resident Chris Jarvis as Happy Harry, whose local gags, rapport with the audience and range of impressions always go down a storm with adults and children alike. We’re also delighted to welcome back o n e o f t he be s t P a n to v i l l a i n s Bournemouth has seen in recent years, Su Pollard – last with us for the 2009 Panto season – as Carabosse. Also returning from the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk is Wave 105 presenter Kate Weston as Good Fairy. However, our all-star cast doesn’t end there, as they’re joined by Asa Elliott from ITV’s Benidorm as the Prince and of course, no Panto would be complete without a dame, with Nurse Nelly to be played by Colin Baker of Doctor Who fame.

Lucy’s recipe corner Choccy coconut balls Crush up the biscuits in a food bag (you can bash them with a rolling pin) and pop into a mixing bowl. Add the cocoa and coconut and stir together. Pour in the condensed milk. Ingredients for 5 servings 250g digestive biscuits 45g desiccated coconut (plus a bit extra for rolling the balls in) 5 tablespoons cocoa powder 1 tin condensed milk (397g)

Scoop out a small handful of the mixture and roll into a ball then roll in the extra coconut. Keep making balls until all the mixture is gone then pop into the fridge for 30 minutes to set. Yum!
