‘HOW DOES THIS YEAR’S CLASS OF 2025 STAND OUT?’
SOUTHERN DOOR
“This year’s graduating class stands out for their exceptional talent in the arts, athletics, and academics. Their achievements in the classroom, on the stage, and on the field reflect a deep commitment to excellence and a strong sense of community. They have set a high standard and leave behind a legacy of dedication, creativity, and perseverance. We are proud of who they are and excited for all they will accomplish next.”
-Steve Bousley, Southern Door High School principal
STURGEON BAY
“The class of 2025 stands out in all the best ways. First, I started in my role at Sturgeon Bay 4 years ago and entered these same halls with them when they were freshman. What I’ve noticed about this class is that they’ve grown up through big changes: virtual learning, rapid technological evolutions, and a world that’s constantly shifting, and they’ve come out stronger. They’re not just tech-savvy; they’re thoughtful, creative, and care deeply about making a difference. They talk about mental health, equality, and the future like it matters, because to them, it does. They’re not waiting for permission to lead; they’re already doing it in small and big ways. This class isn’t just ready for the world, they’re ready to change it. That’s what makes them stand out.”
-Keith Nerby, Sturgeon Bay High School principal
SEVASTOPOL
“Celebrating the Sevastopol Class of 2025: Leading with Excellence and Heart. As the year ends, we proudly honor 40 exceptional seniors whose character, leadership, and service define them. With collegebound scholars, workforce-ready graduates, and one future service member, the class boasts an impressive average ACT score of 22.125. Valedictorian Eve Andreae and Salutatorian Naomi Rikkola lead a group that embodies our core values through efforts like “Seniors Helping Seniors” and community events. Their spirit, kindness, and commitment have left a lasting mark. Congratulations, Class of 2025, your Sevastopol family is proud, and the world awaits your impact.”
-Troy Schaefer, Sevastopol Middle and High School principal
Congratulations from the
GIBRALTAR
“Gibraltar’s seniors are ambitious and courageous, boldly forging a path that has our school and community excited for their future. They carry a strong sense of mission and purpose and take pride in their accomplishments—both individually and as a class. They have set a high standard of excellence throughout their time at Gibraltar that reflects their unique talents and the unwavering support of the incredible place they call home. They have given generously to our local community, and I can’t wait to see the impact they will have on the world. GO VIKINGS!”
-Jim DeBroux, Gibraltar Secondary principal
WASHINGTON ISLAND
“Congratulations to the Washington Island Class of 2025! You’re young men and women who stand out as a tight-knit group, something more akin to family than friends. Your sincere care, concern, and support for each other are remarkable. That happens when you’re a graduating class of five, especially when you’re as genuine and kind as you are, Bennet, Jocelyn, Fisher, Jaxin, and Madelyn. You’re five friends heading into very different futures, bound eternally by growing up together -and becoming adults- on Washington Island. Your futures are bright, and we look forward to your successes. The Island is proud of you!”
-Tim Verboomen, Washington Island School principal
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2025

Celebrate –You Earned It, Graduates
by ELEANOR
CORBIN, Graduation special editor eleanor@ppulse.com
My time in high school ended five years ago exactly, not with a bang but with a whimper as I watched my name announced in a virtual graduation ceremony after losing the last quarter of my senior year.
While not having my cap and gown moment in high school never diminished the accomplishments of my four years, I did miss the chance to truly commemorate the years behind and the years ahead with my classmates and friends.
My advice to all of you: don’t forget to celebrate. It’s not a day to be humble. Amidst the excitement of graduating from high school, moving on to the next stage of life, and becoming an adult, moments like getting your diploma are made for celebration.
Graduates have donned caps and gowns for this rite of passage since the 12th century, before heading out into the world. It’s an amazing, horrifying, wonderful, loving, scary place out there, and you all are about to be face to face with it. I know that experience can be equally electrifying and terrifying.
You’ll have plenty of decisions to make in the next few years, some more important than others. Cherish your new autonomy, even when it’s a pain.
This freedom was certainly my favorite part of becoming an adult – the feeling that I was now in charge of myself. Use it wisely, to make the world a better place, to be kinder to others, and to explore.
As life gets more complicated, it becomes easier to fold in on oneself, to try to simplify. I discourage this. Lean into nuance, challenge yourself and talk to new people.
You’ll find, little by little, day by day, you are growing.
Some of my closest friends are people I would not have gotten along with in high school.
But for now, don’t worry about what next year holds. Celebrate. Throw your cap in the air, cheer for your friends as they walk across the stage, and savor the moment.
I encourage you to find personal importance in your graduation ceremony. Use it to firmly tie a bow around your high school experience. Enjoy time with your friends as some stay in Door County and others move to other parts of the state and the country.
And for goodness’ sake – celebrate!
You earned a chance to pat yourself on the back and accept the praise of those around you. After 13 plus years of schooling, you are officially high school graduates.
This special graduation section is produced, printed and distributed free by the Peninsula Pulse to recognize the students of Door County’s five school districts. The Pulse thanks each of our local schools for their help putting this section together, and for guiding these students to their graduation day. Congratulations to these students, their families and all the teachers and mentors who helped them along the way.

Confident, outgoing, curious, loyal, industrious.
WHAT EXCITES YOUR GENERATION/CLASS ABOUT THE FUTURE?
My class is excited to enter this new chapter. With more independence comes new opportunities and friendships. Rather than futuristic technologies or inventions, we are most enthusiastic about small, meaningful moments with new friends and family. We are eager to embrace life fully.
WHAT SCARES YOU?
New experiences also bring uncertainty – moving to a new city, making new friends, or finding a job. Change is challenging, but I’m confident we will mature and rise to the challenges.

WHICH FIVE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR GRADUATING CLASS?
Hardworking, Supportive, Resilient, Curious, Determined.
WHAT EXCITES YOUR GENERATION/CLASS ABOUT THE FUTURE?
Coming from a smaller, rural town, my class and I are excited to spread our wings and apply what we’ve learned in high school to the real world. We’re looking forward to new experiences, independence, and the chance to grow beyond what we’ve known.
WHAT SCARES YOU?
There’s fear in leaving behind what’s familiar and facing uncertainty, but we’ve built a strong foundation, and we’re ready to take that next step.

WHICH FIVE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR GRADUATING CLASS?
Independent, Diverse, Resilient, Driven, and Optimistic.
WHAT EXCITES YOUR GENERATION/ CLASS ABOUT THE FUTURE? WHAT SCARES YOU?
Sturgeon Bay is a beautiful place to live, and its relative isolation creates a tightknit community at school. As graduates, many of us will leave behind the people we know and find a new community. While facing that uncertainty is intimidating, my graduating class is excited for the chance to explore opportunities outside Door County, including meeting new friends and finding fulfilling careers.
SALUTATORIAN: Tre Wienke
WHICH FIVE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR GRADUATING CLASS?
The five words that best describe my graduating class are determined, fun, friendly, proud, and hardworking.
WHAT EXCITES YOUR GENERATION/CLASS ABOUT THE FUTURE?
A few thoughts about the future that excite my class are being independent, starting a new chapter with new responsibilities, completing school, moving away, meeting new people, and experiencing new challenges.
WHAT SCARES YOU?
Some thoughts about the future that scare my class are leaving home, leaving friendships, and adulting, and the new responsibilities that come with it, like taxes and bills.

OUR STUDENTS ARE OUR FUTURE.
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2025!
Destination Door County is committed to supporting our youth throughout the County. We established the Carole Counard Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors in the belief that by investing in our youth through education, we strengthen our community and build Door County’s future. Learning what these students have overcome personally, learning who they admired most, what they are most proud of and what they
want to do with the rest of their lives gives us another reason to be proud of where we live and the children we raise.
It is so inspiring to be able to award (6) $1,000 scholarships to these students for not only their academic successes, but their leadership and dedication to becoming the best version of themselves. Our students are the future of Door County.
