inFINity FIN Province's News & Trends
30 November—The Salesians of Don Bosco of the FIN Province gathered at Don Bosco Tarlac to celebrate their community day. What made the celebration more meaningful was the strong presence of the members of the Salesian Family, notably the Association of Salesian Cooperators, and also of the young people who are part of the Seekers group of DB Tarlac. The Holy Mass headlined the celebration with FIN Provincial Superior, Fr. Gerardo Martin SDB, as the main presider. In his homily, he remarked that the celebration of St. Andrew's feast invites us to pray for Christian unity as St. Andrew preached the Gospel as far as the Black Sea coast of what is now Ukraine. He is also the patron saint of Russia. He also acknowledged the Salesians who mark their jubilee of religious profession and priestly ordination (see the list on page 20). He noted that this milestone is not synonymous with retirement, but an invitation to a firm commitment for renewal.
"We are here because of Don Bosco."
— Fr. Alton
After the Mass, everyone gathered in the auditorium of the school for the program. The young people, as well as the confreres in the initial stage of formation rendered creative items. In between, there were games that wowed the participants. Fr. Alton Fernandez SDB who marks his 70th year as a Salesian this year shared in his speech that "the God who called Don Bosco gathered us today in love at Don Bosco Tarlac to celebrate the gift of brotherhood as one Province. We are here because of Don Bosco." Cl. Benjo Mangila SDB, the youngest Salesian in FIN, noted that the experience of attending the Province Day celebration is a reminder from the Lord that he belongs to a family "that walks together in leading the young to Jesus."
