Hopeyou all enjoyed a great Summer and are now enjoying Fall, whether with less scorching weather here in Florida or with colorful Autumn leaves in northern parts of the country.
This Spring I was once again invited to spectacular Türkiye to attend the 6th edition of TYBA Yacht Charter Show and then cruise along the gorgeous Turkish Riviera. I was impressed by the warm Mediterranean hospitality of the Turkish people.
Türkiye is a great cruising and charter mecca, one definitely worth considering. Please read my article featuring three stunning Turkish charter yachts to start dreaming.
During that same trip, I briefly attended MEDYS Mediterranean Yacht Show in Nafplio, a beautiful coastal town in the Peloponnese, Greece. I also visited the island of Paros, one of the several lovely Cyclades, and fell in love with it. Don’t miss my article, showcasing a few glimpses of a slice of heaven on earth.
YTM will be attending the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) this Fall, the world’s biggest boat show. See you there!
Espero que hayan pasado un verano estupendo y que ahora estén disfrutando del otoño, ya sea con un clima menos abrasador aquí en Florida o con coloridas hojas otoñales en el norte del país.
Esta primavera me invitaron de nuevo a la espectacular Turquía para asistir a la sexta edición del TYBA Yacht Charter Show y luego navegar por la preciosa Riviera Turca. Me impresionó gratamente la cálida hospitalidad mediterránea de su gente. Turquía es una gran meca para cruceros y chárters, una que sin duda vale la pena considerar. A Perfect Start to Summer Despite Stormy Forecast

The iconic Figawi Race once again drew hundreds of sailors to the waters between Hyannis, MA, and Nantucket Island for its annual 25-mile regatta, a tradition that kicks off the summer season on Cape Cod and Nantucket each Memorial Day weekend. For over five decades, this spirited
event has combined competitive sailing with a festive atmosphere, and this year was no exception.
The 2025 edition featured a full lineup of activities, including the high school invitational Crawford Cup, an awards ceremony, and a series of social gatherings and parties that brought the sailing community together. Heading into the weekend, forecasts called for a potentially dangerous Northeaster with gusts over 60 knots, prompting anxious discussions and revised race strategies among competitors. But in a welcome twist, the weather shifted dramatically. As if on cue, race day dawned with winds of 10–14 knots out of the west-southwest, offering ideal sailing conditions for the 108 boats that crossed the starting line.
The race was a reminder of the unpredictable nature of sailing—and of the magic that can happen when the weather turns just right.

Morningfog clings to the surface of the Atlantic as Carl LoBue steers a small research vessel into open water. A pod of dolphins arc through the waves, and the misty spout of a humpback whale erupts like a signal flare.
For LoBue, marine scientist and New York oceans director at The Nature Conservancy, these moments are more than breathtaking—they’re signs of a recovery decades in the making. Thanks to stronger protections for forage fish like Atlantic menhaden supported by baymen, fishermen, scientists and wildlife advocates, whales are returning to New York’s coastal waters in numbers not seen for generations.
But with recovery comes risk. The same waters now teem with

To help boaters navigate this new reality, The Nature Conservancy worked with state agencies, educators and other marine experts to create Eyes on the Water: Boating with Whales, a free online course that simulates a journey through New York’s iconic waterways. Participants learn to spot whales, recognize their behavior, avoid collisions and report sightings.
“It’s not just about avoiding collisions,” LoBue explains. “It’s about building a community of people who understand the ocean and want to protect it. You’re not just steering a boat—you’re entering someone else’s home. Every ripple, every sound, every movement matters.”
LoBue and his team designed the course for easy integration into New York’s boating safety programs. It’s part of The Nature Conservancy’s broader strategy to protect marine life and coastal communities—from restoring shellfish reefs, eelgrass meadows and salt marshes, to tracking seabirds and reducing nitrogen pollution. Back on the water, LoBue’s radio crackles to life. A whale-watching boat is looking for confirmed sightings. “We’ve got a mom humpback with a calf in 50 feet of water off the roundhouse,” he replies.
LoBue stows his gear and turns toward shore. “They’re here,” he says. “Now we just have to keep it that way.”

Pero la recuperación conlleva riesgos. Chartering a yacht in the Mediterranean is always a joy. Ancient history and archaeological ruins abound everywhere, as well as charming fishing villages and quaint old towns offering delicious local cuisine in waterfront restaurants and tavernas, chic little shops featuring handmade clothing and ceramics, pretty churches and interesting museums everywhere, nice coves to anchor, and superb vistas of different gorgeous blue water hues from every walk, hill or cliff overlooking the Med.
Türkiye is no exception to all this, with the added appeal of not being yet as busy and popular as other Mediterranean countries, and still maintaining a relaxed old-world charm and a warm Turkish hospitality. Home of ancient civilizations, it boasts a magnificent coastline that stretches some 5,000 miles. A true gem waiting to be discovered.

This past May, Yachting Times was invited to take part in the 6th edition of the TYBA Yacht Charter Show, one of the most prestigious yachting events in the east Mediterranean. For the last three years, the Show was held in D-Marin at the lovely seaside town of Göcek, in a secluded bay surrounded by green mountains in the back, charming coves and beaches on both sides, and protected from the sea by several scattered islands. Built before the 15th century at 7,973 feet above sea level in the Andes mountain range, this ancient Incan city is considered a masterpiece of engineering and architecture.
This is the story of my return to Machu Picchu—and how it reminded me about what meaningful travel really feels like.
Into the Mountains: An Intimate Introduction to the Inca Trail
We could have flown over the valley. Taken the direct route. Skipped the trek.
But true luxury is time well spent, not corners cut. That’s why I chose the One-Day Inca Trail hike—a seamless blend of soft adventure and scenic immersion.
Our experience began in the Sacred Valley, where I boarded the Vistadome train to KM 104. With glass domes revealing the soft morning light over the Andes, the journey was calm and immersive—live music, thoughtful service, and nature rolling by in cinematic views.
From the trailhead, I hiked the Short Inca Trail, a beautiful 5-mile path through cloud forests and history. We passed the archaeological site of Chachabamba, crossed narrow stone bridges, and paused at the terraces of Wiñaywayna, where ancient walls seemed to emerge from the earth itself.
But nothing compared to that moment at Intipunku—the Sun Gate. As Machu Picchu emerged through the mist, I understood why so many call it a spiritual experience. It’s not just the view—it’s the energy.

Huayna Picchu: Above It All
Climbing Huayna Picchu was the highlight of my visit. The trail winds steeply upward, with stone steps clinging to the mountainside and tunnels carved into the rock.
Huayna Picchu is not for everyone. The path is steep and carved into rock—but with private guiding and the right timing, the climb becomes an empowering moment rather than a stressful one.
At the top, Machu Picchu stretches out below like a blueprint of time. It’s one thing to see the citadel from within; it’s another to view it from above, in stillness, with the wind brushing your face and the mountains all around.
Inside the Citadel: Harmony in Every Detail
Later, as we explored the core of the site, I was struck not just by the architecture, but by how intentionally everything had been built. Terraces, temples, ritual stones—they all echo the surrounding landscape.
We visited the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb, and Intihuatana, the sacred solar clock. But what stayed with me most was the feeling that nothing here was random. It was all part of a larger vision—one we’re only beginning to comprehend.
Huayna Picchu: Por encima de todo

Located in the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea is a spectacular body of water bordered by Greece and Turkey, and home to over 1,000 islands. Ancient civilizations sailed its waters in pursuit of communication, trade, and war. On his way back from the Trojan War, Odysseus himself spent the first half of his journey here while trying to return to his wife Penelope’s side.
In its southern part, just north of the Sea of Crete, lie The Cyclades. These famous islands are peaks of a submerged mountainous region and a few of them, like Santorini and Milos, were formed by volcanic activity. The name Cyclades stems from the Greek word kúklos (circle) because they seem to extend like a circle around the sacred island of Delos, where the gods Apollo and Artemis were supposedly born. are well-known for their charming fishing villages, picturesque white-and-blue architecture, lovely beaches, relaxed atmosphere, traditional vibe, and ancient ruins. I had never been to the island of Paros before but heard it was a typical Cyclades, considered to be extremely beautiful and less touristy than neighboring Mykonos and Santorini. This past May, I boarded a modern ferry in Athens’ Pireus port and arrived in Parikia, Paros’ capital, some 2 ½ hours later. Parikia is a charming village with ocean-front bars and restaurants serving delicious local seafood, from where to watch spectacular sunsets. I loved visiting Naoussa, a picturesque fishing village only one hour away by bus. The mountain village of Lefkes is also worth a visit.

I felt happy just relaxing in Paros for a few days and visiting its lovely beaches. Its tiny sister island of Antiparos is a popular day trip destination, and I enjoyed the mere 10-minute ferry crossing from Pounda in Paros to neighboring slow-paced little Antiparos. Paradisiacal Paros truly captivated me, and I hope to be able to return soon to continue enjoying its many charms and laid-back atmosphere.

Ifirststumbled onto “breathwork” back in the ’90s during my Kundalini yoga teacher training.
Kundalini yoga offers a variety of kriyas which are specific sequences of breathwork, posture and movement designed to awaken and direct energy in different ways. The effect can be powerful and in my case life changing. Very often you come out of a yoga class feeling not just relaxed but very clear and alert. Sometimes you would also see someone come out of a session with a surprising emotional release, because the breath has a way of reaching into places where tension and old emotions get stored.
Fast-forward nearly 30 years, and I’m now certified by the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance. The breathwork I guide today goes far beyond calming rounds of box breathing or energizing breaths to shake off an afternoon slump. Those practices are wonderful, and I still teach them and use them myself daily. However transformational breathwork is something deeper — and again often surprising. When you practice intentional circular breathing for 30 to 60 minutes, your body and subconscious start to reveal things you may not even realize you’ve been carrying. People often arrive with one issue in mind, only to discover something completely different

Working through them with the breath is not only eye-opening, but often life-changing.

Crispy polenta discs with vegetables

Ingredients for 4 people
For the polenta
1 cup of Colavita Polenta
4 cups of water
Salt
For the vegetables
2 red onions
1 clove of garlic
4 tablespoons of Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3 zucchinis
1 eggplant
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 handful of basil leaves
Salt Pepper
1 tablespoon of Colavita Red Wine Vinegar
1 jar of Colavita Pesto
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan, season with salt and pour in the polenta, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Once cooked, pour it into an eight by eight inch baking pan lined with baking paper. Spread uniformly and let it cool until firm. Wash the vegetables and cut them into one-inch cubes.
Slice the onions and brown them with a whole clove of garlic in a large pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Add the eggplant cubes with a pinch of salt, stirring often. Add the peppers and zucchini and cook for about 15-20 minutes, adding a few ladles of water if necessary.
Near the end of cooking, add the black pepper and basil. Adjust the salt and add one or two teaspoons of red wine vinegar to taste. Using a pastry cutter, create discs of polenta about 2 inches in diameter and fry them in extra virgin olive oil until golden brown.
Serve the crispy polenta discs topped with the vegetables, a spoonful of pesto and fresh basil leaves.

Lave las verduras y córtelas en cubos de unos 2,5 cm.
Corte la cebolla en rodajas y dórelas con un diente de ajo entero en una sartén grande con un chorrito de aceite de oliva virgen extra. Añada los cubos de berenjena con una pizca de sal, removiendo con frecuencia.
Añada los pimientos y los calabacines.
Cocine durante unos 15-20 minutos, añadiendo unos cucharones de agua si es necesario.
Casi al final de la cocción, añada el pimiento y las hojas de albahaca. Rectifique la sal y añada una o dos cucharaditas de vinagre de vino tinto a gusto.
