A Note From Lynsey Allan Director of Sport
As we move into the final few weeks of term, it is hard to believe just how much has been packed into the last month of sport at Dollar Academy. It has been an incredibly busy period, with pupils representing the school across a wide range of sports and achieving success at local, regional and national level. Their commitment, enthusiasm and determination continue to make us proud, and this newsletter celebrates many of those outstanding achievements.
While there is much to reflect on, there is still plenty to look forward to before the summer break. Sports Weekend promises to be another fantastic showcase of school sport, while the Celebration of Sport will provide an opportunity to recognise and applaud the efforts and accomplishments of our athletes throughout the year. We also have the Aquathon and the challenging Dollar Academy Hill Race still to come, ensuring an exciting end to the sporting calendar.
All that remains is for us to hope that the sunshine makes a welcome return and provides the perfect backdrop for these final events. We look forward to seeing pupils continue to embrace every opportunity and finish the term with the same energy and enthusiasm they have shown throughout the year.
1st XI Hockey win Midland Knock-out Cup
Congratulations to the 1st XI Hockey squad — winner of the Morrison’s 7's. They had three wins in the pool stage: High School of Dundee, The Glasgow Academy and St Aloysius. They won 1-0 in the final against Strathallan.
U15 Hockey Selection
15 Dollar Academy Players were selected to represent their district in the recent U15 District Championships.
Congratulations to Benjamin, Penny, Pippa, Maddie, Anuska, Anna, Libby (Form III) Eilidh, Mia, Alise, Ailie, Vaila, Holly and Murrin (Form II) and Isla (Form I)
U16 Caledonian Rugby Selection
Congratulations to Cameron, Murray, Malcolm, Josh, Ronan and George (All Form III) on being selected for the Caledonia U16 Programme.
Primary SSAA Cross Country
Our Junior 1 & 2 runners competed in the Primary SSAA Cross Country at Kirkcaldy High School. Well done to all our competitors. Our Junior 2 Girls team, Annie, Ivy, Erin and Matilda secured an impressive 2nd place finish!
Emily Norval (FP 2024) Rugby Success
Well done to Emily Norval, who was selected to play against France in the Women's U21 Six Nations!
Abi | Dressage
Well done to Abi (Form III), who has been selected to ride for the UK at the Pony Club International Alliance Virtual Dressage Competition!
Alexander | Sailing
Alexander (Form II) and his helm, Morven, came 12th at the Eric Twiname Championships (in the two-handed RS Feva). 30 boats took part alongside various other classes, and Team Scotland was well represented across the board.
It was a light-air event which suited them both well; they managed enough races to get 2 discards. They were the 2nd Scottish boat, which tracks with their recent performance at Loch Venachar.
Rugby 7’s – Melrose
Our 1st VII competed at Melrose 7’s for the Jim Telfer Cup. They progressed to the semi-final with wins against Melrose, Stewarts Melville College and Stockholm Exiles. Lost in the semi-final to Newcastle Red Bull. Fantastic way for the Form VI boys to finish their Dollar rugby career.
Hugh & Evan | Orienteering
Congratulations to Evan (Prep 5) and Hugh (Junior 2) on their excellent performances at the Scottish Individual Orienteering Championships! Hugh was crowned Scottish Champion after winning gold in his age group, while Evan secured silver.
Harriet | Gymnastics
Congratulations to Harriet (Form III), who won the Scottish Gymnastics National Development Grade 3 Competition in April. She placed first overall, including 1st on beam, 6th on bars, 5th on vault, 5th on floor and 4th on range & conditioning!
Lucy | Cycling
Congratulations to Lucy (Form IV), who represented Scotland at the Tour of Flanders, and placed 65 out of 120 riders! This was a huge opportunity to race against some of the best cyclists in the world. She also recently competed in the Scottish Track Championships, picking up a Bronze medal in the Scratch.
Magnus | Triathlon
Well done to Magnus (Form III), who won the Open Novice section of the East Fife Triathlon!
Alec & Callum Grant | Cricket
Congratulations to Alec (Form VI) and coach Callum Grant, who have been selected to their respective squads for the upcoming 2026 Men's Regional Super Series!
Annina | Equestrian
Congratulations to Annina on her recent achievements:
Strathallan Schools Competition:
Annina won her dressage section, helping the school team come first and qualifying for the NESA dressage finals in October 2025.
Scotland Pony Club Winter Spring Festival Championship:
Annina was crowned Pony Club Scottish Novice Dressage Champion and asked to compete at the Royal International Windsor Horse Show 2026)
Pony Club Area1 Qualifier:
Annina won trophies for Pony Club Novice dressage Winner, Team Novice Dressage, Pony Club Eventing 90cm Winner and Team Eventing 90cm.
Pony Club Championships:
Annina was the Pony Club Eventing 90cm winner, in a competition of 54 children!
British Eventing Scottish Grassroots Championships at 90cm at Scone: Annina placed 2 , qualifying for Badminton Grassroots 2026. nd
Scottish British Eventing Awards:
Annina won a trophy for most points in Scotland in the U18 90cm and a trophy for the highest Junior placing at the Scottish Grassroots Championships at Scone!
Annina was also selected for the Regional Scotland U18 Scotland BE 90cm Eventing Team for the second year and for Scotland at Dressage Novice level down at The Royal Windsor International Horse Show 2026!
Ben Salmon (FP 2021)
Well done to Ben Salmon (FP 2021), who was chosen to represent GB7s in the HSBC Sevens World Championships!
Success at Mini Ryder Cup
Congratulations to our golf team, who secured victory over The High School of Glasgow in this year ’ s mini-Ryder Cup!
The win marks back-to-back titles for the team. The mini-Ryder Cup sees players take on all Ryder Cup formats in a single day. A fantastic start to what promises to be a busy few weeks of golf!
Rai (Form IV) | Ice Hockey
Well done to Rai (Form IV) on an outstanding ice hockey season. After transferring to Fife Flames (U16) and being drafted to the Fife Falcons (U19), he helped secure both the Scottish U16 and U19 League titles before completing a historic quadruple with victories in the U16 and U19 Scottish Cups, scoring his first goals for both teams along the way!
We wish him every success as he prepares to join the Kirkcaldy Kestrels alongside the Fife Falcons next season!
U18 Tennis Success
Congratulations to our U18 Girls Tennis Team, who beat Strathallan in the National Championship 6-0. The team was Anna, Eilidh, Holly and Libby. Well done, girls!
Cricket Success
Congratulations to our Form III (U15) cricket team, who won the Glenalmond 6s tournament last week! They won four out of four games, with wins against Glenalmond, High School of Glasgow, Loretto School and Robert Gordon's College.
Aiden & Katherine | Basketball
Well done to Aiden (Form III), who has been selected for the U15 Men's Scotland Squad.
He has been training with the Scotland squad since Dec 2025, and he is looking forward to competing for Scotland at the U15 Aspire Tournament in Manchester, which will take place from 10 - 12 July.
Congratulations to Katherine (Form II), who is a reserve for the U14 Women's Scotland Squad!
Leon, Matthew & Alexander | Football
Congratulations to Matthew and Alexander (Form IV), who both played for Kinross Colts U16s and won the AFYFC Kingdom Cup!
In addition to winning the divisional cup last month, Leon’s (Form I) team: Wasps Golds 2013s have won their league and will move up a division next season!
Leon plays as a goalkeeper, and this season, he has conceded the least amount of goals in his league of 12 teams.

Hockey & Rugby Preseason | 10 - 15 August
