Dollar Academy Annual 1 XI v FPs st Match

Welcome from The Rector, Mr Ian Munro

There is something rather special about occasions such as this.

This Friday’s fixture brings together two groups who, while separated by time, are united by a shared experience of representing Dollar Academy’s hockey teams. On one side, our current pupils - full of energy, ambition, and the excitement of writing their own chapter. On the other, a distinguished group of former pupils, whose own contributions to the school’s hockey tradition continue to resonate long after their final match.

Sport has always been a powerful thread in the fabric of Dollar Academy. It teaches commitment, resilience, teamwork, and humility in both victory and defeat Fixtures like this remind us that these values endure well beyond school years; they become part of who we are

For our current players, this is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the contributions of those who have laid the foundations of our incredibly successful hockey programme

For our former pupils, it is, I hope, a chance to reconnect - with each other, with the Academy, and with the joy of pulling on the Dollar colours once more

Most importantly, today is a celebration: of continuity, of community, and of the lifelong connectio Dollar Academy

My thank l players for taking pa match.

I wish bo

Welcome from The Head of Hockey, Callum McLeod

To all our former pupils, It is a genuine pleasure to welcome you back. Whether you were part of the unforgettable Scottish Cup–winning squads of 2016, 2017 2018, 2019, and 2024, or contributed to the programme in other years, each of you has played a part in shaping the legacy of hockey at our school.

Your energy, commitment, and pride in representing the school have inspired younger players, strengthened the spirit of the programme, and created memories that staff, pupils, and supporters still speak about today. While you gave so much to the school, I hope school hockey gave something back to you too. The early mornings, the running and weights sessions, the friendships formed in the changing rooms, the resilience built through challenge, and the confidence found in shared achievement these are experiences that last long after the final whistle. Hockey at Dollar Academy has a wonderful way of teaching teamwork, leadership, humility, and ambition, and it’s clear that each of you has carried those qualities forward into life beyond school.

As we look to the future of hockey at Dollar, we are committed to ensuring that there is continued investment in the pupils, programmes and facilities. To achieve this, we are beginning a focused effort to raise funds for the replacement of the main school pitch This investment will support the continued growth of the programme and provide a high-quality environment for pupils for many years to come. Thank you for everything you contributed during your time here, and thank you for playing in this inaugural FPs match.
