The Journal of Science Extension Research – Volume 5 celebrates the curiosity, creativity and scientific skill of NSW public school students who completed Science Extension in 2025. This fifth volume brings together an impressive collection of student research reports spanning biological and medical sciences, environmental and agricultural sciences, physical and chemical sciences, and engineering and technology. It also marks a special milestone: our first Science Extension Showcase, held in 2025, which recognised outstanding student researchers for the significance of their projects, quality of methodology, scientific understanding, creativity, innovation, and communication. Together, the journal and showcase highlight what students can achieve when they are supported to ask meaningful questions, conduct authentic scientific inquiry and share their findings with a wider audience.
