V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women. Over the past 16 years, V-Day activists from more than 140 countries have worked tirelessly on a grassroots level to demand an end to all forms of violence against women and girls. In the face of resistance, and at the intersection of art and activism, they have come together around life-saving safe houses, productions of award winning playwright Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues and other works curated by V-Day. V-Day organizers have saved lives, raised consciousness, changed laws to protect women and girls, funded rape crisis centers and domestic violence shelters (often times these much needed funds kept them from closing), educated their communities, and raised over $100 million in urgently needed funds for groups doing the essential work of ending violence and serving survivors and their families. V-Day’s work is grounded in 4 core beliefs:

1. Art has the power to transform thinking and inspire people to act;

2. Lasting social and cultural change is spread by ordinary people doing extraordinary things;

3. Local women best know what their communities need and can become unstoppable leaders;

4. One must look at the intersection of race, class, and gender to understand violence against women.

V-Day’s most recent global campaign, ONE BILLION RISING, galvanized over one billion women and men on a global day of action towards ending violence against women and girls.

In 2014 activists escalated their efforts by focusing on ending impunity and connecting social justice issues with violence against women.

V-Day has received numerous acknowledgements and awards and is, one of the TopRated organizations on both Charity Navigator and Guidestar.

Eve Ensler is a Tony award winning playwright, performer and ac vist. She is the author of interna onal phenomenon, The Vagina Monologues, which won an Obie and has been published in 48 languages and performed in over 140 countries. Eve wrote the New York Times Bestseller, I Am An Emo onal Creature: The Secret Life Of Girls Around The World. She then adapted it as a play which ran successfully in South Africa, Paris, Berkeley and Off-Broadway. She is the founder of V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls, which has raised over 100 million dollars for grassroots organiza ons around the world. On V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, it launched it’s most ambi ous campaign One Billion Rising which inspired one billion people in 207 countries to Strike Dance and Rise on February 14, 2013 for the freedom, safety and equality of women. With the women of Congo, V-Day opened and supports City of Joy In Bukavu, Congo, a revolu onary center where survivors of gender violence Turn Their Pain to Power. Eve starred in the HBO version of The Vagina Monologues. Her play Here was filmed live by Sky Television in London, UK. She co-produced the documentary What I Want My Words to You which won the Freedom of Expression Award at Sundance. Her other plays include Necessary Targets, The Treatment and The Good Body, which she performed on Broadway, followed by a na onal tour. In 2006, Eve released her book, Insecure At Last: A Poli cal Memoir, and co-edited A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and a Prayer. My name is Keyona Young. My hobbies are wri ng, poetry, dancing, reading romance novels, ac ng, and modeling. I graduated from Southport High school in 2008. I have a 4 year old daughter named Anniyah and she’s my world. I performed the lead role in Rosa Parks and an orphan in Annie at Southport High school. I played an African American Women in the musical Rag me at Perry Meridian High School. I also was in a Church play called Judgement Day, playing a young gang member who gave her life to God before it was too late.

Director, Introduc on, The Li le Coochi Snorcher That Could, & My Revolu on Begins In The Body

This is my fourth year par cipa ng. I started because I was asked to do a favor by one of my favorite people. I keep coming back because the messages are so very real for women of all walks of life. My vagina would totally dress up in five inch heels. I would say… Listen.

Empowered Living Owner

Indirectly I have been involved with V-Day for 3 years. I wanted to be a Forensic Scien st, but realized seeing the death of children would be too much. Another interes ng fact is I am a crea ve being, I like to draw and paint. If my vagina could talk, it would say, “Take the me to get to know me, so then you can sa sfy me.” If my vagina got dressed, it wouldn’t.

Empowered Living Owner

I’ve been involved with V-Day for four years. I originally started my advance studies to be a nurse, un l I found out that I was too squeamish. I was an aerobics teacher for about 8 years. If my vagina could talk, it would say, “Reciprocate my love.” If my vagina got dressed it would wear something sophis cated sexy.

Empowered Living Owner

Ranada has been involved with V-Day for six years. Two interes ng facts about her are she is a Sex Therapist and in the process of becoming a Sunday school teacher. One of Ranada’s passions are assis ng women who have been sexually violated, to become healthy sexual adults that have a new apprecia on for themselves. If her vagina could talk, she would say, “Temporary closed…Due to beau fica on.” If she got dressed, it would be something super sexy, like “Black Ice Cream” (Raheem Devaughn) to celebrate her femininity.

The “Wear & Say” List, Not So Happy Fact, I Was There in the Room, My Revolu on Begins in the Body

I am Barbara A. Davis, a cast member for four years. If my vagina talked it would say “Remember, for years, I was treated as a ‘hush hush thing’ with limited freedom. Remember, when we ran in the wind; beau ful spring me breezes, whispering through your summer dresses; caressing ‘Me’; so precious to the future of mankind; yet never really embracing Me”. Dressing up, my vagina would wear beau ful bu erflies; soaring in the wind of freedom and fulfillment... ownership… no restraints. Why the play? Because women need to KNOW/FEEL/EMBRACE their Precious VAGINAS, all its quiet, lla ng pains...pleasures. PRICELESS.

The Vagina Workshop, They Beat The Girl Out My Boy, Or So They Tried, The Woman Who Loved To Make Vaginas Happy, & My Revolu on Begins In The Body

Jenni White is honored to be performing in V-DAY for the 17th me in 13 years! She says, “This show changed my life. It brought me my miracle son Zion, a er being deemed infer le. It gave me a connec on to and a passion for figh ng to end domes c violence, and where I work (Coburn Place). It helped me find my voice again.” Jenni is evergrateful for all the strong, powerful women in her life – Vagina Power! Halleluiah! Wear? Nada! Say? Call me! Theme Song? “Brave” by Sara Bareilles

Vagina Happy Fact, Vagina Happy Fact, My Revolu on Begins In The Body

My name is Sherriece Harris. This is my first year being involved with V-Day. An interes ng fact about me is that I’ve only been on a plane once because I’m terrified of being in the air. If my vagina could talk, it would probably say, “Things sure have changed around here in the last 13 years!” If my vagina got dressed, it would wear a pair of comfortable sweats, a hoodie and some Air Max’s!

They Beat the Girl out my Boy, or so they tried, A 6 Year Old Girl Was Asked, & My Revolu on Begins in the Body

This is my fourth year. If my vagina could talk it would say..respect and love me. What would it wear?? A red silk gown with hearts trimmed in fur. I love the story of the Vagina Monologues. It is a way of le ng all people be aware of what women really go through. Woman have been used and abused for too many years and have not been able to express their true feelings. The Vagina Monologues should be viewed by all human beings from all walks of life it can and will open your eyes to a whole new world of Vagina expression.

inneJ White

This is Ebony’s 1st year involved with V-Day, and she is thrilled to have this opportunity! Indianapolis resident by way of Chicago, Illinois, she finds poetry and music the most therapeu c. Ebony wants to thank her husband, for being the best support system EVER. If my vagina could talk, it would say “Don’t Forget, Front to Back!!” If my vagina wore clothes, it would wear a bright red tutu to celebrate being a vagina everyday!

In addi on to my work in sexuality educa on, I also have a sex and rela onship coaching business called Tell Kathleen Anything, check it out at www.tellkathleenanything.com If my vagina could talk she would say “My name is VULVA!” and she would be wearing a big smile – across all her lips!

The “Wear & Say” List, They Beat The Girl Out My Boy, Or So They Tried, Because He Liked To Look At It, My Revolu on Begins In The Body

This is my first year involved with V-Day. I majored in theater in high school. I am a singer/songwriter. My vagina would say… “I would like to come out of this ght shell.” My vagina would wear tribal carnival wear like a foreign na ve; with beau ful feathers right down the middle of the costume.
