Immanuel Classical School (OR) - Uniform Policy AYE 2027

Page 1

Immanuel Classical School’s Uniform Policy is founded in a desire to cultivate a professional culture that is neat, orderly, and honors God in our attire. We recognize that humans are both physical and spiritual beings made in the image of God, and the way we dress is an expression of stewardship of our bodies and regard for others.

Our uniform policy exists to foster: A Respectful and Focused Learning Environment

Humility and Modesty, Making Appropriate Gendered Distinction

Reduction of Peer Pressure and Social Stratification

Sense of Identity and Unity

The school administration will determine if there is a violation of the Uniform Policy, either in fact or attitude. Non-compliant students will be expected to correct their appearance quickly

Apparel:

Formal Days will be announced through ClassReach. Formal Day attire is listed on pages 4-7

Students’ clothing must be clean, free of holes or tears, and be appropriately sized.

No visible undergarments

Hair & Accessories:

Students will keep their hair clean and well-groomed

No visible tattoos are allowed

Watches are allowed; they cannot make noise, have smart technology, or be cumbersome to wear. If watches becomes a distraction the teacher has the discretion to request it be removed

UniformRequirements

General Uniform Requirements apply to all students Gender-specific uniform requirements follow:

Gentlemen

Hair must be kept in a traditional boys haircut, above collar and neatly groomed.

No unnatural hair coloring.

No makeup, nail polish, earrings, body piercing jewelry or visible tattoos

Shirts must be tucked in.

Belt must be worn.

Ladies

Hair must be a natural color and feminine.

Hair accessories must be fitting to the style of the uniform, which is modest and conservative.

Modesty is required; bike shorts are strongly suggested under jumpers. Primary students: no makeup or artificial nails.

Nail polish color must be classy and fitting to the uniform, and manicured to a natural length and shape.

Earrings are allowed and must be classy and fitting to the uniform; no body piercing jewelry

If hair accessories or jewelry become a distraction, the teacher and adminstration have the discretion to request they be removed.

We hope that our uniforms can save families both and time and money. By de-emphasizing the social impact of dress, the uniform helps focus the students on character and academic issues. It strives to level the playing field for every student, regardless of economic context
