Uniform Policy 2023-2024
DRESS CODE The way we dress is a form of “rhetoric” and communicates a message. Firm Foundations Academy Northwest requires students to wear uniforms from an approved list. Our uniform standards reflect the conviction that no activity, even dress, is a neutral endeavor. All conduct, including how we dress, should be done to the glory of God, as loving service to our neighbor, reflecting His goodness, truth and beauty. The principles behind our school uniform standards include: We aim to model that dress matters and can promote excellence. The uniform helps create an orderly academic workplace so students are better able to concentrate on their studies. The uniform allows godly authority to set modest and appropriate dress standards. The uniform reminds us that we are part of a larger community, committed to common goals.
UNIFORM SELECTIONS Students must wear uniforms selected from French Toast and/or Land’s End. Please consult the French Toast and/or Land’s End Firm Foundations Academy webpages for particular approved styles before ordering from a third party provider (aka amazon, JCPenney). This can be found on our website under our parent portal and at the links below. Boys should select uniforms only from the boys selections and girls should select only from the girls selection. Logos on uniforms are encouraged, but only required on sweatshirts, sweaters and vests. One polo with a logo is required.

French Toast
Uniform Guidelines
Shoes
Shoes must be solid black. Toes and heels of shoes must be closed. Snow or rain boots may be worn outside during cold, wet weather, but students must change back into their school shoes upon re-entry into the classroom. PE shoes can be brought to school and worn during PE, but students must change back into their school shoes upon re-entry into the classroom.
Socks
Socks must be matching and a solid color, black, navy or white. Girls may wear solid black, white, red or navy tights. Leggings or footless tights under skirts are okay if they are worn with matching socks.
Outerwear
When students are in class, they may only wear sweaters or sweatshirts from our French Toast or Land’s End Selections. Indoor sweaters and sweatshirts must have school logo. Outerwear for outside must be a zip up coat/jacket/sweater that is hung up when they enter the classroom. No hoodies. No scary or inappropriate graphics on jackets (i.e. skulls, words, etc.)
Accessories
Ties should be from uniform selections. Plain leather or cloth belts may be worn with pants. Simple hair accessories complementary to the uniform may be worn. All jewelry must be modest and complementary to the uniform. No other body piercings are permitted. Hats/caps/hoods are not permitted in the classrooms. No bright/distracting hair dyes.
Dress Neatly Casual Day Uniform Trestle Days
Clothing must be appropriately sized. Pants must fit well, with pant legs covering socks when student is standing. A generally tidy appearance is required, such as shoes tied and clothing in good condition.
Jeans without holes and a uniform shirt Casual days will be pre-announced.

We have laid out above the principles of why we have chosen to have this uniform policy. This is not a policy that was dreamed up by one of our teachers or administrators. It has been carefully thought out and approved by our board. We acknowledge that there are differing views on uniforms. For the sake of your children and our staff, please encourage them to follow our policy joyfully and completely. The attitudes of ourselves as parents are reflected in those of our children.
