A CHICK LIT STORY

Before school even started, I had already made up my mind: done with love. Coming fresh from a breakup and proudly proclaiming to anyone who’d listen, “From now on it's just me and my studies first,” I dared my closest friend, Amaya, for ₱500 just to prove that I wasn’t going to fall in love again. It took her a while to stop laughing - because as always, there's me and my long history of dramatic crushes, but eventually she took me seriously and bought into my act. I was focused, glowing, and totally unbothered. In other words, it worked... but only for a month, as I eventually developed a secret crush that no one knew about - the eye contact, the interactions, and the secret glances- and all of a sudden, I forgot the rules I had set for myself.

I tried fighting it, I really did. I avoided my friends' teasing, forced myself to like other people, and pretended I never noticed every time he laughed at my jokes. But one day, he borrowed my notes, smiled at me, and my heart melted. That was it - contract broken! We started dating, and I fell hard for his eyes, his hair, and the way his laugh made everything feel lighter. I hid everything from Amaya because I was terrified she’d find out I lost the bet and my dignity at the same time. But plot twist: we broke up. And when that happened, I ran straight back to my best friend, crying and ranting for days. Funny thing? She never even brought up the ₱500. Maybe she forgot. Or maybe she just knew I needed her more than I needed to pay my debt.

At the very end, I took away one thing with me: falling in love didn't make me any weaker; it only taught me another valuable lesson. I was still single, still healing, and still learning to choose myself. And honestly? That felt like a win, even without the ₱500.

Playing video games has always been one of my favorite ways to relax after a busy day at school. I started playing games out of curiosity when i was a kid, but over time, it became a hobby that I truly enjoy everytime. Gaming allows me to explore different game environments and momentarily forget about stress and pressure.

What makes gaming special for me is the challenge and creativity involved in every game. Some games test my strategic thinking, while others focus on teamwork and communication, especially when playing with friends and people i meet online. It makes me socialize and do more active things online. Gaming is a good way for people to meet each other through shared interest in the same genre of games.

In conclusion, playing video games is more than just a pastime for me; it is a meaningful way to relax, learn, and connect with others. Through gaming, I am able to challenge myself, express creativity, and develop skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and communication. It also helps me relieve stress after school while allowing me to socialize with people who share the same interests. Overall, gaming has become a positive and enjoyable part of my life that supports both personal growth and social interaction.

Reading manga and manhwa is my favorite hobby because it provides an effective way to relax and temporarily escape from daily academic pressures. Through digital platforms, I am able to access vast range of stories that introduce imaginative worlds and compelling narratives. This hobby allows me to use my free time productively while enjoying meaningful and engaging content.

One of the main reasons I appreciate manga and manhwa is the strong combination of storytelling and visual presentation. The illustrations enhance the narrative by clearly expressing emotions, actions, and atmosphere. As I read, I develop better focus, critical thinking, and imagination while also learning valuable lessons related to perseverance, responsibility, and personal growth.

Reading manga and manhwa digitally makes this hobby convenient and accessible at any time. I can read using my phone or other devices, which allows me to continue reading during breaks or quiet moments. Overall, this hobby is not only a form of entertainment but also a beneficial activity that supports relaxation, learning, and appreciation for well-crafted stories.

The wrong door appeared in Marina’s hallway, a thin slice of darkness where the coat closet should be. It smelled of ozone and wet soil. She opened it.

Beyond waited a long, dark, and twisting, like a narrow passage that doesn’t follow normal space. It felt alive and unsettling, Clockwork butterflies ticked overhead. A violet cat covered in star-like markings. placed a tiny key between its teeth.

“This opens the important things,” it whispered.

The cat vanished, and the world warped as the ground twisted beneath her feet into a wavy path of oversized piano keys that rose and dipped as she moved forward.

It carried her straight into a vast chessboard forest, where a man with a distorted face suddenly appeared before her. “Come float,” he chimed softly. “You’ll never be late again.”

Marina paused. In the distance, she heard the faint winding of a silent music box, and the key she took from the cat softened in her hand, melting into a smooth pebble. “I have my own things to open,” she said.
