LETTER FROM THE FOUNDERS

SERNEHOLT ESTATE TURNS TEN WITH A FRESH NEW LOOK!

We’ve launched a new website and identity—modern, clear, and designed to give you the best experience.

OUR JOURNEY

The idea of Serneholt Estate was born in late 2015, and by February 2016 we were up and running. We had no idea where it would take us. Almost ten years later, it has exceeded every expectation.

Before moving to Spain, both of us worked in real estate in Sweden. Starting our own brand was never planned, yet today we are nearly a decade in with more than 60 colleagues across Spain and Cyprus, helping clients find their dream homes.

Even in tough times, like 2020 and Covid, we grew, stayed strong, and enjoyed the ride.

As 2025 begins, we felt it was time to upgrade our website and make it easier than ever to find us—whether buying, selling, renting, or browsing.

We also embraced a full rebrand. With help from Johan Pihl, we created a bold, modern identity that reflects who we are today and where we’re heading. Johan is among the best in his field, with years of experience, and above all, he is family.

Read more in our interview with him on page 36.

THE NEW SYMBOL

Changing to a bird after 10 years may seem odd, but it’s a tribute to our work: moving people from cold, dark climates to a bright, sunny lifestyle, just like the bird moves.

Our new branding holds more details we’ll be proud to fill with stories in the next decade. Look closely and you’ll see what we see.

LICENSED AGENTS

The first 10 years were only the beginning. Now we’re setting a new standard.

In much of Spain, licenses were not required, but that is changing. We welcome it. A professional agent makes all the difference, and clients shouldn’t rely on unqualified people for life-changing deals. The industry needs regulation to ensure quality.

One by one, we are taking our Spanish real estate licenses to secure the most educated and experienced team in Europe.

DRÖMSÖKARNA

And if you haven’t seen Drömsökarna yet, check it out on YouTube. It’s a fun show about buying property in Spain. Let us know if you like it and watch out for new seasons.

No dream is too small or too big—if you can dream it.

YACHTING AND MARINA LIFESTYLE SPAIN’S TOP COASTAL HUBS

Spain’s coastline must be one of Europe’s most sought-after yachting destinations. Its blend of world-class marinas, stunning cruising routes, and year-round warm Mediterranean climate offer the ideal combination of luxury, adventure, and convenience.

From the cosmopolitan ports of the Costa del Sol to the island retreats of Mallorca and volcanic landscapes of the Canary Islands, Spain’s marinas cater to every kind of sailor, whether it’s for leisurely coastal cruising, competitive regattas, or long-distance voyages.

COSTA DEL SOL

The Costa del Sol is home to some of Spain’s most exclusive marinas, attracting a mix of superyacht voyagers, weekend sailors, and those who appreciate the finer side of waterfront living.

Puerto Banús, just west of Marbella, is probably the most famous. It was developed in 1970 by José Banús, a Spanish property developer who envisioned an exclusive marina and leisure complex inspired by the glamour of the French Riviera. Created as a luxury destination, it quickly became a hotspot for high-end yachting, designer shopping, and celebrity visitors, solidifying a reputation as one of the most prestigious marinas in the Mediterranean.

It’s a thriving hub of couture boutiques and gourmet restaurants with a vibrant nightlife, making it as much about the social experience as the sailing. The marina is well-equipped for luxury yachts, with 915 berths accommodating vessels up to 50 metres.

Further along the coast, Sotogrande Marina offers a more relaxed yet equally prestigious atmosphere. It’s known for its excellent sailing conditions and is home to one of Europe’s top polo clubs. The marina is also a

gateway to Gibraltar and the Strait, making it an ideal starting point for serious sailors heading towards the Atlantic.

For a quieter, family-friendly option, Puerto de la Duquesa provides a charming mix of traditional Andalucian character and modern amenities. Smaller in scale but with a good selection of facilities, it’s a great base for those looking to explore the coastline with a more laid-back pace.

COSTA BLANCA

The Costa Blanca’s marinas are well-suited for sailors looking for a balance between adventure and comfort. With milder winter temperatures than the Balearics and fewer crowds than the Costa del Sol, it has become a popular choice for those seeking a relaxed yachting lifestyle.

Marina de Dénia stands out as one of the best-equipped on the coast. Situated at the gateway to the Balearic Islands, it’s a popular departure point for crossings to Ibiza and Mallorca. With excellent facilities, a lively waterfront, and a growing reputation as a gourmet destination, it’s a favourite for both short-term visitors and long-term moorings.

Marina Alicante is a well-equipped, modern marina located in the heart of the city, offering over 740 berths with easy access to both urban amenities and prime sailing routes. Its facilities include a full-service boatyard, 24-hour security, and a variety of nautical services, making it a convenient base for both short stays and long-term moorings. Positioned along Alicante’s bustling waterfront, it provides a dynamic setting for sailors, with a strong community atmosphere and a range of water-based activities.

Further south, Marina Torrevieja is one of Spain’s largest yacht club environments, offering extensive berthing, a sailing school, and a strong boating community. Club Náutico Marina Internacional has over 800 berths, multilingual staff, and affordable winter rates, with the Tourist Information Bureau conveniently located nearby. Along the pier, Puerto Deportivo Marina Salinas provides modern facilities, a well-equipped boatyard, and 24-hour

services, along with a fun social scene. Both marinas also offer a range of water sports and activities, making them a dynamic hub for sailors and visitors alike.

TENERIFE & GRAN CANARIA:

The Canary Islands are a major stopover for transatlantic crossings, but they also have a thriving local yachting scene. Thanks to their steady trade winds and diverse sailing routes, Tenerife and Gran Canaria are two of the most popular choices for sailors in the archipelago.

Marina Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the island’s main hub, offering excellent facilities for long-haul sailors. The marina’s location in the capital provides access to international connections while still being close to Tenerife’s rugged coastal scenery and volcanic landscapes.

It’s centrally located with 300 berths, accommodating boats from 8 to 80 metres. Known as a key stopover for transatlantic crossings, it regularly hosts regattas and rallies, attracting a diverse sailing community. The marina is continually improving its facilities, aiming to be one of the most welcoming ports in the Canary Islands

On Gran Canaria, Puerto de Mogán offers a completely different experience. Often called the ”Venice of the Canaries,” thanks to the canals that lead from the marina to the fishing harbour, it is smaller but incredibly picturesque, with colourful buildings, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent seafood restaurants lining the quayside. It’s a favourite among sailors looking for a peaceful retreat after crossing from the mainland.

For those preparing for longer voyages, Marina de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is one of the most important yachting hubs in the Atlantic, offering over 1,250 berths and a full range of services for both local sailors and long-distance cruisers. Strategically located in the island’s capital, it serves as a major stopover for transatlantic crossings, most notably as the starting point for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), which attracts sailors from around the world.

The marina is well-equipped with repair facilities, fuel stations, and 24-hour security, making it a practical and safe choice for those preparing for ocean voyages. Its city-centre location provides easy access to shops, restaurants, and marine supply stores, ensuring visitors have everything they need before setting sail. With a vibrant yachting community and a reputation as one of the best-equipped marinas in the Canary Islands, Marina de Las Palmas remains a key gateway between Europe and the Americas.

MALLORCA

Mallorca has long been at the heart of Mediterranean yachting, attracting everyone from serious sailors to holidaymakers on luxury yachts. The island’s strategic location, modern and well-equipped marinas, and thriving nautical industry make it a key destination for both cruising and maintenance.

Port de Palma is one of the most prestigious marinas in Spain, hosting some of the world’s preeminent regattas, including the annual Palma International Boat Show. With over 2,000 berths, it accommodates everything from small sailboats to some of the largest superyachts in the world. The marina is also surrounded

by ship-yards and service providers, making it a vital stop for yacht refits and maintenance.

On the island’s west coast, Port d’Andratx is a stylish and well-maintained alternative offering 450 berths. Tucked into a natural harbour, this marina combines an exclusive atmosphere with a relaxed charm. Its waterfront is lined with stylish restaurants, making it a favourite for those who prefer a scenic yet sophisticated setting.

Further north, Port de Pollença caters to sailors looking for a quieter escape. Known for its stunning bay and reliable winds, it’s a favourite for both cruising and water sports enthusiasts. Its proximity to the Tramuntana mountains

also makes it a great base for combining sailing with inland exploration.

A LIFESTYLE CENTRED AROUND THE SEA

Spain’s marinas are more than just docking points; they’re bustling hubs of activity, luxury, and social life. With year-round sailing conditions, exceptional facilities, and a culture that embraces the sea, the country remains one of Europe’s top destinations for yachting enthusiasts. Whether it’s the high-energy glamour of Puerto Banús, the refined sailing culture of Palma, or the Atlantic adventures of the Canary Islands, Spain offers a yachting lifestyle that is as varied as its coastline.

CYCLING & ACTIVE LIVING IN SPAIN A PARADISE FOR CYCLISTS

From the world-famous La Vuelta a España to everyday cycle paths winding alongside the seashore and through towns, Spain is a nation obsessed with life on two wheels. Beyond its sun-drenched beaches, historic cities, and mouth-watering cuisine, it offers the perfect setting for those after a healthy, active lifestyle in the great outdoors. With its diverse landscapes, impeccably maintained roads, and year-round favourable climate, Spain is nothing short of a paradise for cyclists.

From the rolling hills of Costa del Sol to the dramatic volcanic ascents of Tenerife, Spain offers a playground for both amateur and professional riders. With cycling culture deeply ingrained in its DNA, the country has become a premier destination for those seeking an exhilarating ride through stunning scenery.

Spain’s passion for cycling is woven into the very fabric of its landscape, and few places capture this spirit better than Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Mallorca, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria. These regions offer an irresistible blend of breathtaking scenery and physical challenge, making them a dream for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The beauty of cycling is that you get to explore an area up close, not just whizzing by in a car, while these destinations promise routes to inspire, challenge, and captivate.

COSTA DEL SOL

One such route is the Senda Litoral Málaga Coastal Path, which connects various sections of the coastline between these towns. This gentle ride allows cyclists to traverse beaches, promenades, and marinas, all while enjoying the Mediterranean breeze. However, be aware that some segments of the Senda Litoral may be incomplete or challenging to navigate, so planning ahead is advisable.

For those seeking inland adventures, the ride from Marbella to Coín presents a rewarding challenge. The 62km round trip takes cyclists through diverse terrains, offering a mix of ascents and descents that showcase the region’s natural beauty. Additionally, the Marbella to Istán route is a challenging 22 km journey that ascends into the mountains, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

Beyond cycling, the Costa del Sol offers a plethora of activities to keep enthusiasts engaged. Paddleboarding on the tranquil waters of the Mediterranean or hiking in the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park near Marbella provides the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. This stretch of southern Spain is heaven for those who thrive on exercise and exploration.

COSTA BLANCA

Alicante’s Costa Blanca boasts over 200 kms of coastline and a dramatic inland landscape shaped by limestone peaks and deep valleys. The region is known for its ideal cycling conditions—mild winters, well-maintained roads, and challenging climbs that attract professional teams for off-season training.

The Port d’Ebo & Coll de Rates loop is a favourite amongst serious cyclists. This 116km ride offers breathtaking panoramas as it winds through hairpin bends and lush valleys, making it one of the most iconic routes in Spain. Another rewarding journey takes riders through the Sierra Mariola Natural Park, where historic villages such as Bocairent dot the landscape, adding cultural interest to the ride.

For those who prefer a mix of activities, Costa Blanca is just as famous for its hiking trails, golf courses, and water sports, offering a natural diversity that makes it a dream destination for those who want to combine cycling with other forms of outdoor activities.

MALLORCA

No discussion of cycling in Spain would be complete without Mallorca. The island is a magnet for professional cyclists, drawing elite teams year after year. But Mallorca is not just for the pros; its diverse network of routes caters to all levels, from casual riders to seasoned competitors.

Perhaps the most famous climb in Mallorca is Sa Calobra, a winding road that rises spectacularly, featuring a 26-hairpin ascent with gradients reaching up to 7%. Not only is it a physical challenge, but the sheer beauty of the landscape makes every pedal stroke worth the effort. Equally impressive is the ride to Cap de Formentor, a stunning 40 km round trip that hugs the coastline, finishing at a lighthouse with sweeping views over the Mediterranean.

Away from the bike, Mallorca is a haven for hikers, swimmers, and wellness seekers. The island’s rolling hills, famously beautiful beaches, and tranquil countryside provide endless opportunities for those who wish to immerse themselves in nature.

TENERIFE

The Canary Islands offer some of the most dramatic cycling terrain in Europe, and Tenerife is at the heart of it all. Dominated by Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak at 3,718m, the island is a playground for serious cyclists looking for an unforgettable challenge.

Ascending Mount Teide is an experience like no other. Starting from sea level, the climb takes cyclists through an otherworldly volcanic landscape, where the air becomes thinner and the views more spectacular with every kilometre gained. The 2,400m ascent is a test of endurance and strength, but the sense of achievement at the top is unparalleled.

Tenerife’s appeal extends beyond the bike. The island’s natural beauty is equally suited to hiking, paragliding, and scuba diving. Its unique blend of coastal roads and mountainous terrain ensures that every day brings a new adventure.

GRAN CANARIA

Often described as a “miniature continent” due to its diverse climates and landscapes, Gran Canaria offers an incredible variety of cycling routes. From golden sand dunes to dense pine forests, the island delivers a cycling experience unlike any other.

One of the most picturesque rides is the Maspalomas to Ayagaures Loop, a journey that takes riders from the coastal town of Maspalomas into the island’s interior, where rolling hills and rugged canyons provide a dynamic ride. For a more demanding challenge, the GC60 and GC65 loop climbs from Maspalomas through the heart of the island, offering dramatic scenery and thrilling descents.

Beyond the bike, Gran Canaria’s rich ecosystem makes it a paradise for outdoor lovers. Surfing, trekking, and yoga retreats are just a few of the many activities that contribute to its reputation as one of Spain’s most active destinations.

A CYCLIST’S DREAM DESTINATION

Spain’s diversity makes it an unrivalled destination for those seeking an active lifestyle, particularly cyclists. Thanks to its unparalleled scenery, world-class infrastructure, and a deep cultural appreciation for outdoor pursuits, Spain continues to solidify its reputation as one of the finest cycling destinations in the world.

From the Andalucian coast to the Canary Islands, Spain’s beach clubs offer something for every kind of sun-seeker. Whether you’re lounging with a cocktail, diving into a saltwater pool or dancing as the sun sets, these clubs capture the essence of Mediterranean and island luxury.

OUTDOOR LIVING BRINGING THE INDOOR OUT

In our wonderful Mediterranean locations, outdoor spaces are more than just an afterthought. Thanks to the wonderful temperate climate enjoyed throughout these areas, they’re a year-round way of life. With temperatures that invite daily alfresco living, terraces, porches, and patios become natural extensions of the home. Offering the perfect spot for a morning coffee in the sun, a long, leisurely lunch, or an evening under the stars, a well-designed outdoor space makes every moment feel effortless.

CREATING A VERSATILE SPACE

To maximise the utility of your outdoor area, make it as flexible as possible. A covered terrace provides muchneeded shade in the summer while offering shelter on cooler nights. Retractable pergolas, stylish awnings, and ‘glass curtains’ create adaptable spaces that work in all seasons without blocking light or views.

Outdoor kitchens, built-in seating, and fire pits add functionality, ensuring the space is just as inviting as any indoor lounge or dining room.

Furniture should be both stylish and durable. If you are close to the beach, bear in mind the corrosive properties of salt water. Woven rattan, teak, and powder-coated aluminium are ideal for the coastal climate, resisting sun and seawater exposure while maintaining a timeless aesthetic. Modular seating arrangements allow for customisation depending on the occasion, whether it’s a quiet family evening or a lively gathering entertaining friends. Soft fur-

nishings such as outdoor rugs, cushions, and throws add warmth and texture, making the space feel every bit as comfortable as an interior living room, and can be changed easily to freshen up the space.

ENHANCE WITH LIGHT AND PLANTING

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood. Lanterns, LED strips, or hanging pendant lights provide a soft glow after sunset, creating an inviting atmosphere. Solarpowered options are an energy-efficient way to illuminate pathways or highlight architectural features and consider solar-powered candles or even tiki torches in larger spaces to add a cosy touch.

Greenery brings life to terraces and patios, adding shade, and privacy. Olive trees, lavender, and succulents thrive in Spain’s climate, requiring minimal upkeep while enhancing the natural surroundings. Vertical gardens or climbing vines soften walls and pergolas, making even compact spaces feel lush and inviting. A small water feature, such as a fountain or plunge pool, introduces movement and a sense of tranquillity, while also helping to cool the air on warm days.

A well-thought-out outdoor space is about more than just aesthetics. It’s about enjoying the enviable outdoor lifestyle to the full. With the right design, terraces and patios become the heart of the home, offering a perfect setting for relaxation, socialising, and embracing the Mediterranean lifestyle all year round.

DREAMING

BIG ON SCREEN

LINDA SERNEHOLT TALKS ABOUT BRINGING PROPERTY DREAMS TO LIFE

THROUGH HER

NEW TV SERIES, DRÖMSÖKARNA

Helping people find their dream homes is at the heart of what we do. But what happens when those dreams are shared with a national audience? In this issue, we catch up with Linda Serneholt to talk about Drömsökarna, the Swedish television series that blends the appeal of international property hunting with the fascinating, and sometimes moving, personal stories behind every move.

Hi Linda. To start with, what exactly is Drömsökarna?

It’s a Swedish version of A Place in the Sun, but with a slightly more modern tone. We’re working with a wider range of buyers and search criteria, which allows us to feature not just traditional holiday home hunters, but also families, solo buyers and people investing in a future life abroad. It’s about more than just sunshine – it’s about life transitions.

How did the idea for the show first come about?

We were approached by a Swedish production company who wanted to create a programme focused on buying property in Spain. They had explored other formats, including some more drama-based concepts, but when they floated the idea of a documentary-style series with real clients and real searches, it immediately felt like the right fit.

What was it that made you want to get involved personally?

It all started with a pilot two years ago. After that, the production team asked if I would like to host the series, and it just grew from there. I had never imagined myself in this kind of role, but it felt natural. I’ve got extensive experience of the Spanish real estate world, it was a great opportunity to show it from a different perspective.

Who is the show really for?

It’s aimed at anyone who has ever dreamed of living abroad or owning a home in a warmer climate. We focus on Spain at the moment, but the idea is broader. It speaks to people looking to create a lifestyle change, whether that’s for retirement, remote work, family life or investment.

Tell us about the types of people we meet on the show.

It’s a great mix. We follow friends buying together, single parents looking for a fresh start, retirees, digital nomads, people of all ages and from very different backgrounds. The variety of stories is one of the show’s strengths and it really reflects how diverse today’s international buyers are.

Is the focus more on property, or is lifestyle a big part of it too?

The property search is central, of course, but we make a big effort to show the areas and the lifestyle. We want viewers to feel what it might be like to actually live there. So the landscapes, the cafés, the local markets and normal daily of life all play a role.

Where is the show filmed and how do you decide on the locations?

So far, we’ve filmed in Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, which are both regions we know extremely well. Next season, we’re looking at the islands, including the Canaries and the Balearics. We already have offices there, so we can provide genuine local insight and support.

What’s your role as host? Are you hands-on with the buyers?

Yes, very much so. I meet with each client before the viewings to talk about their hopes and expectations. Afterwards, we sit down to reflect on how they felt about the properties they’ve seen. There´s also a bonus episode coming up at the end of the season with a famous swedish tv-personality that will talk about investments in Spain to give some inspiration for buyers.

Do you have a favourite memory from filming?

Honestly, every shoot has had its own charm. But what’s been especially fun is being on the other side of the process. I’m used to working as the broker, so watching it all unfold without being directly involved in the transaction has given me a whole new point of view.

What do you hope people take away from watching?

I want them to feel that this is possible. That it’s not just a dream for the few. There’s something for everyone and if you’re willing to explore, you can find the right fit.We also want to show just how beautiful Spain really is.

Has filming changed how you see your own life or goals?

It hasn’t changed anything drastically, but it has definitely made me appreciate where I live even more. Seeing things through our clients’ eyes has reminded me how lucky I am to call this home. And there is something incredibly rewarding in watching people step into a dream they’ve held for so long.

What can we expect from future seasons?

You’ll see new areas, both familiar and surprising. We want to keep discovering and showing places that people may not have considered. Above all, you’ll see more of that sense of joy and possibility that comes with imagining a different kind of life.

Is Dream Seekers available to watch internationally?

At the moment, it’s broadcast in Swedish, but it’s also available on YouTube. If we notice a strong interest from other countries, we’re open to adding subtitles in different languages.

Where can people watch or follow the show?

Right now it’s on Tele2 Play and Tvodster, both Swedish platforms, and also on YouTube. And who knows, it may end up reaching a wider audience soon…

MARKET OVERVIEW AND TRENDS: STRONG FUNDAMENTALS SUPPORT CONTINUED GROWTH

As we move through the height of summer 2025, the Spanish property market is not only holding firm, but outperforming expectations in key regions. What began as a cautiously optimistic year has evolved into one of broad-based confidence, with transaction volumes, buyer diversity and price growth all reinforcing Spain’s reputation as one of Europe’s most resilient and appealing destinations for real estate investment.

Nationally, home sales have risen by over 11% year-on-year in January alone, with the pace remaining steady through spring. Regions such as the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, and Balearic Islands continue to lead, driven by strong international demand and a maturing domestic market. Coastal prices are increasing faster than the national average, with Tinsa reporting a 14% annual rise for second homes in southern hotspots like Marbella and Estepona. At Serneholt Estate, this translates into real demand from motivated buyers, particularly for ready-to-move-in homes and quality new developments. We’re seeing strong interest up to the €600,000 mark, with many clients arriving well-informed and keen to act. In parallel, the luxury market is evolving, with branded residences setting new benchmarks for design, quality and global appeal. The

pace at which these projects are selling, often before completion, is evidence of the market’s strength at the top end.

One of the most notable developments this year has been the growing presence of American buyers, a segment that now accounts for one of the fastest-growing areas in the market. Alongside continued demand from Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Belgium, this is adding new layers of dynamism to Spain’s international appeal. Across the most sought-after coastal areas, a significant share of foreign buyers are purchasing without financing, particularly in the higher-end market, where an estimated 60% of transactions are completed in cash.

Looking ahead, the fundamentals remain strong. With interest rates stabilising and inflation easing, we expect sustained activity well into the autumn. Inventory remains tight in the more popular coastal areas, creating opportunities for sellers, while developers with the right product and price point are well-positioned to capture demand.

Spain’s property market continues to offer something few others can: lifestyle, security and long-term value in one of the most desirable destinations in Europe.

A CLIENT’S EXPERIENCE

SELLING AND BUYING PROPERTY WITH SERNEHOLT ESTATE

Embarking on the mission of buying or selling property abroad can be a daunting task without the proper guidance, filled with uncertainties and complexities. However, the experience of these Swedish clients of Serneholt Estate’s Manilva office underscores how choosing the appropriate real estate agency can transform this journey into a seamless and reassuring process.

MAKING THE MOVE

Originally from Southern Sweden, the couple enjoyed full lives, with children, grandchildren and successful construction and nursery businesses. Following a move to the pretty coastal town of Nybrostrand in 2023, they undertook a total renovation of their home that was both time-consuming and demanding. It was at this point in their busy entrepreneurial and home life that they realised they needed to find a retreat, somewhere where they could switch off, relax and take a break from their various responsibilities.

The search for the perfect location led them to the Manilva area, focussing eventually on Sabinillas. “We loved this area as it is less bustling than much of the Costa del Sol and offers attractive pricing, meaning we got more for our money”, they explain. While investment potential wasn’t the foremost motive for buying property, it certainly helped in their ultimate decision to buy an apartment here.

Despite purchasing their first apartment through another agency, their encounter with Christian and Eva from Serneholt Estate was a turning point. The couple explain, “We were introduced to them through mutual friends, and we just clicked right away.”

Their connection was immediate, and it was their trust in this relationship that was pivotal in their decision to engage Serneholt for their subsequent real estate needs.

When the time came to sell their property, it was Christian and Eva they turned to, and they credit Christian with finding their dream home in La Duquesa Port, with the deal tied up within 24 hours!

What set Serneholt Estate apart for them was the personal connection they had formed and the professional expertise and local market knowledge they brought to the table.

Christian’s successful background in real estate in Sweden meant that he was very familiar with the differences and similarities between the Swedish and Spanish processes for home-buying, which combined with his deep knowledge of the Spanish market, provided the couple with the confidence and security they sought in navigating the foreign property landscape. The ease of communication, facilitated by a common language, further enhanced their comfort level.

Throughout the buying and selling process, the couple felt well-informed and supported. Christian and Eva guided them through each step with clarity, ensuring any questions were promptly and accurately addressed. This level of proactive engagement is crucial in foreign property transactions, where clients may feel out of their depth with local regulations and procedures.

When asked to describe Serneholt’s service in three words, the couple chose ‘professional,’ ‘knowledgeable,’ and ‘respectful.’ These attributes reflect the essence of what clients seek in a real estate agency, especially in the context of international transactions. Professionalism ensures a reliable and ethical service; knowledge provides the necessary insights into the market and processes; and humility fosters a respectful and understanding client-agent relationship. It just goes to show that Serneholt Estate can make the daunting task of buying or selling property abroad a reassuringly smooth experience.

SPISA A SCANDINAVIAN SANCTUARY BY THE SEA

Amid the sunlit streets and palm-lined avenues of Marbella, SPISA stands out as a thoughtfully curated space where Scandinavian culture meets Mediterranean living. With its heart in Sweden and its roots now firmly planted in the Costa del Sol, SPISA offers a familiar, welcoming environment. It’s becoming an essential part of everyday life for expat Scandinavians, part café, part grocery and part community hub.

Launched in February 2023, SPISA was created to become a natural meeting place for Swedes and other Scandinavians living in or visiting Marbella. What began as a vision quickly became a community. “We didn’t just want to sell food,” the team explains. “We wanted to represent Swedish culture in a way that felt authentic and to create a place that could be part of people’s everyday lives.”

MORE THAN A SHOP

Step inside and you immediately sense that this is more than just a shop. SPISA has become a kind of living room for the Scandinavian community. It’s somewhere to pick up groceries, yes, but also to connect, relax and enjoy the comforting feel of home. The store is known for its carefully curated range of Swedish and select Spanish products, from fresh cinnamon and cardamom buns baked daily, to Marabou chocolate, Nocco and Celsius energy drinks, and classic pick-andmix lösgodis that’s hard to find elsewhere in Spain and of course, the iconic Swedish meatballs, both fresh and frozen. The atmosphere is deliberately casual, combining Scandinavian design principles with the easy-going Mediterranean rhythm.

The sense of belonging extends beyond the shelves. Many customers come in not just to shop, but to work remotely, meet friends, or spend a quiet moment in familiar surroundings. “We’ve always believed that it’s the mix of practicality and community that makes SPISA special,” they explain. “We want people to feel that this is their place.”

FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY

SPISA’s team also places a strong emphasis on sustainability, with practical measures in place across the business. Waste is minimal, with leftover food donated to charities via a local church and transport logistics are shared with other companies to reduce emissions. Additionally, a growing number of eco-certified and recyclable products can be found in-store, alongside familiar favourites from Sweden and locally appreciated Spanish staples.

The store’s appeal has also grown among Marbella’s health-conscious residents. Gym-goers and fitness enthusiasts are a regular part of the customer base, so SPISA keeps pace by stocking popular wellness brands and training-focused snacks and drinks. It’s a reflection of the shop’s flexible, open-minded philosophy: rooted in tradition, but always looking forward.

As for what’s next, the vision is expansive and focused. Over the next decade, SPISA plans to extend its presence along the Costa del Sol and into Mallorca and the Canary

Islands. “We see this as the beginning of something longterm,” they say. “There’s a real appetite for what we do and a need for spaces that feel both personal and purposeful.”

At a time when connection, culture and quality matter more than ever, SPISA is proving that the most enduring lifestyle concepts are the ones built with heart.

MEET THE DESIGNER BEHIND SERNEHOLT ESTATE’S NEW IDENTITY

As Serneholt Estate marks its tenth anniversary next year, we felt now was a good time to reassess and refresh our company’s image. Over the past decade, Serneholt has evolved from a small family venture into an international real estate agency with offices across Spain and further afield. This new identity celebrates that transformation with a bold and contemporary look, while remaining true to the enduring trust and family spirit that have defined the company from the very beginning.

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY

Johan Pihl, the brother-in-law of founders Fredrik and Linda, is the designer behind the Serneholt Estate brand. As a distinguished art director with considerable international experience, he brings his valuable expertise and a high level of professionalism to the team. “When Fredrik and Linda first asked me to help shape the brand, it felt like a natural fit,” Johan recalls. “It wasn’t a formal brief in the traditional sense – it was family. This meant we could throw thoughts back and forth, discussing ideas as they arose and I could get valuable feedback in real time.”

AN INTERNATIONAL EYE

Johan’s career had more than prepared him for the task. He studied in Hong Kong before moving to the United States, where he attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. His work later took him to New York and London, before returning full circle to Stockholm, where he now resides.

BRAND BEGINNINGS

“The first Serneholt logo was deliberately simple,” Johan explains. ”I wanted something clean and timeless, rooted in classical typography. For me, design is always about purpose. Its role is to solve a business problem.” At the time, the challenge was to give the new company an identity that looked professional but still had room to grow as the company expanded, including potential new, unknown business areas. That approach was evidently a success.

A decade later, Serneholt Estate is established as a recognised player in international real estate, yet it has remained true to its approachable, personal ethos. The brand Johan created provided a strong foundation, but now is the right moment to reimagine it for the future.

A BOLD REBRAND

“This time, the brief was very different,” Johan says. “The company is operating in multiple markets and competing on a much larger stage. The question was: do we make small adjustments to the existing design, or do we create something completely new? In the end, we decided on a full rebrand.” The result is a fresh identity that feels both strategic and personal. Johan began with a blank canvas, but the design still nods to the company’s origins. The original colours remain part of the palette, softened into a modern, versatile set of tones suited to both digital and print. At the centre of the new look sits a bold motif: a bird.

THE MEANING OF THE BIRD

“For Swedes, the migrating bird, like the swallow, is a strong cultural symbol,” Johan explains. “It represents movement towards warmth and light and the search for home. All of that connected beautifully with what Serneholt Estate does – guiding people to new places and new beginnings.” There is also a detail that makes the design uniquely Serneholt. Look closely and you will see the bird’s eye is shaped like a pin on a map. It’s subtle, but it symbolises finding a specific location, tying the idea of migration to the concept of finding a specific home. The choice of motif also carried an emotional resonance. During the design process, Fredrik and Linda noticed a bird perched on their window to the office every morning for a whole week. “We are not superstitious, but it nevertheless felt like a sign,” Johan remembers. “Sometimes a design process is influenced by unexpected and unlikely events that in turn influence creative thinking, and this was one of those moments.”

A BRAND IN MOTION

For Johan, the rebrand is not just about a new logo but about reflecting a company in motion. “A brand should never be limiting in its design. It must allow for growth, adapting to new challenges and opportunities while responding to both current and future business needs.

The new Serneholt Estate identity builds on the past ten years, but more importantly, it is designed to carry the brand forward into its next chapter.” The refreshed brand now represents an agency that is international in scope yet still grounded in the same values, ambitious in its outlook but approachable at heart. Thanks to Johan’s vision, Serneholt Estate enters its second decade with a clear identity, honouring its origins while confidently embracing the challenges to come.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM SCAMMERS BY USING AN FX COMPANY SUCH AS LUMON PAY

It’s a sad fact of modern life that we are all at risk of scammers, no matter how knowledgeable we think we are. The challenge is that in an increasingly digital world, financial scammers are refining their tactics to stay one step ahead, becoming more sophisticated and difficult to detect.

At Lumon Pay, we help individuals and businesses move money across borders securely every day, staying right up to date with methods to thwart scammers and stay vigilant in the face of these threats.

Their methods vary, however, scammers exploit technology and psychology in equal measure. From impersonation fraud to phishing emails and fake investment schemes, criminals are becoming more adept at exploiting trust and urgency. The consequences can be severe, not just financially, but emotionally.

VERIFY THE LEGITIMACY OF THE COMPANY:

Check regulatory status: Make sure Lumon Pay (or any FX company) is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK or a similar authority in your jurisdiction.

You can check this via the FCA Register https://www. fca.org.uk/

KNOW THE SIGNS

Many scams begin with an unsolicited call, email or message. It might appear to come from a bank, a delivery service, or even a colleague. The common thread is pressure: the fraudster creates a sense of urgency, not allowing you time to properly reflect on what they are asking you to do. They might ask you to verify a payment, click a link, or provide confidential details. A genuine financial institution will never pressure you into immediate action. If you are being pressured into acting, make sure you stop and give yourself time to take a moment and think.

• Scammers may pose as Lumon Pay using lookalike emails or websites.

• Check email addresses carefully (e.g., @lumonpay. com vs @lumonpays.com)

• Never click links in unsolicited emails. Visit the website directly by typing the address.

GUARD YOUR DETAILS

Never share passwords or one-time passcodes, even if the request appears to come from someone you trust. Criminals can spoof phone numbers, email addresses and websites to make their communication look convincing. If in doubt, contact the company directly using a known and trusted method.

SECURE YOUR DEVICES

Ensure that your software, operating systems and antivirus protection are always up to date. Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible. Cybersecurity begins with the basics and consistent habits make a real difference.

Our dedicated teams monitor for suspicious activity and guide clients through secure transactions with complete transparency.

Scammers are sophisticated, but with the right precautions and professionals guiding the way, you can stay a step ahead. Stay alert, stay informed and don’t let fraudsters compromise your financial future.
