Situated in a dense area of Paris beside Le Bon Marché, Square Boucicaut is an inclusive green retreat featuring landscapes, a carousel, sculptures, and amenities for all ages.

Inspired by Parisian passageways—narrow transitional corridors that spark curiosity and offer refuge from urban life—the project reintroduces this architectural element to the Left Bank of the Seine.

Titled Tracing Passages, the project is an experiential journey through ten galleries (nine plus one

2. OCCUPIED SECTIONS

“Occupied Sections” is a project consisting of three buildings: a shoin (study hall), an onsen (hot spring bathhouse), and a tea house. The agnostic site is defined by multiple terracing levels with 5–10 feet of elevation change and a 30-degree slope on the second-highest level. The experiential sequence begins at the highest point, leading visitors through a rock garden. The shoin occupies two terrace levels before the path continues to the onsen on the lowest level and finally the tea house on the 3rd level. Traditional Japanese architectural elements such as tatami mats, engawa and refined joinery are integrated throughout the project.

PROGRAMS

1. Shoin: built-in study desks, bookshelves.

2. Onsen: 2 separated buildings (men and women) ensuring privacy, indoor courtyads, locker rooms, showers, privies, saunas, 3 baths (hot, warm, cold).

3. Tea house: tatami-seatings, traditional shelves and shrine.

4. Overall site: rock gardens and engawa.
