Artistic Vision FPRA is seeking a departure from traditional, highly saturated public murals. Artists are encouraged to explore a cleaner, softer, and more refined visual approach using subtle Florida-inspired colors, organic forms, layered imagery, and thoughtful compositions. The artwork should draw inspiration from the natural beauty, history, culture, architecture, and character of Fort Pierce. Potential imagery may include Florida citrus and orange blossoms, Fort Pierce’s pineapple heritage, native and tropical vegetation, palm trees, waterways, coastal landscapes, birds, peacocks, maritime elements, historic architecture, and other imagery connected to the individual districts. The examples provided with this Call for Artists are intended to communicate the desired overall mood, composition, and color direction only. Artists are encouraged to develop their own original interpretation rather than recreate the example artwork. The desired aesthetic should incorporate: Muted, soft, or earthy color palettes rather than highly saturated colors. Florida-inspired shades such as coastal blues, sage and deep greens, warm creams, sandy neutrals, muted coral, terracotta, and subtle citrus tones. Botanical, natural, architectural, cultural, or historical imagery incorporated in a contemporary and artistic manner. Large-scale compositions that complement the architecture rather than overwhelm the space. A thoughtful balance of detailed imagery and open or negative space. Artwork that feels welcoming and visually interesting from both near and far. A cohesive relationship between the mural walls and elevator doors.
