A NOTE FROM THE HEADMASTER Dear Jubilee Families, Fall came and went in about two days and now the smell of roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, and mashed potatoes is in the air. It is the time of year to give thanks. Well, for that matter, I suppose every time of year is the time to give thanks. As Psalm 92:1 tells us, "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High." But during this season, we get a special opportunity to pause and taste the sweet pleasures of fellowship, and God's bountiful provision. At The Jubilee School we got to do just that. On our final Thursday of classes before Thanksgiving break we got to enjoy an amazing feast prepared by Jubilee parents, while we listened to classroom presentations of scripture, poetry, and song. We also got to sit for a long time and enjoy conversation with teachers, parents, and students from Montessori to Secondary. What a blessing. God's goodness was on full display.
Now, with thanks and joy on our minds, we look forward to the few weeks before FINALS! Yes, you read that correctly. Finals are nearly upon us, and we are excited to finish our first semester of the year. But more importantly, we get to start singing Christmas songs! Just a few short weeks of focused work and Christmas songs, and we will be off for Christmas break. Speaking of Christmas songs, you ought to come and join us on December 9th at 1:45 PM for Christmas Caroling at Jubilee. Some gracious instrumentalists from New Saint Andrews Conservatory are coming to play for us and accompany us in our caroling. This is sure to be a very fun celebration and I would love to add your voice to the beautiful din. God Bless you, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving with good food and many loved ones. Kent Young

FACULTY HIGHLIGHT Meg Hixson
Hi, my name is Meg Hixson, and I am the Enrichment Coordinator at Jubilee. Maybe you have seen me running around with orange cones on M o n d a y s a n d F r i d a y s . N o t o n ly i s orange cone management my gig, I also teach a brilliant Shakespeare class and a Children’s Literature course, where we often talk about pine cones and why snakes don’t have legs. Jubilee is a special place to me because of the students. It is a joy to see smiles on children’s faces, and hear cheerful voices sing praises to God, morning and afternoon. I am so thankful God has given me the o p p o r t u n i t y t o s e r v e a t J u b i le e . Growing up, my family lived in a rice farming community in Northern California. After seventeen years, I got the wild idea to go to school in M i n n e s o t a a t N o r t h w e s t e r n C o lle g e . ENRICHMENT CORNER Mondays & Fridays at Jubilee by Meg Hixson Thanksgiving often gets overlooked by the tsunami of Christmas this time of year. Christmas is glorious and good, but Thanksgiving provides a perfect opportunity to prepare our hearts in thankfulness for what God has done in our lives over the year, so that we enter into the season of Christ's birth with cheerful and thankful hearts. Over the past few weeks of Enrichment, Thanksgiving has been in the air. We have been talking in chapel, our classrooms, and in the lunchroom about thankfulness. It may be a song, a word, a prayer or a story about the Pilgrims but the season has been evident. Children singing praises to God in thankfulness is a joy like no other.

ENRICHMENT CORNER Continued
Looking ahead in December, our Enrichment program has a few items on the calendar. Mr. Young mentioned the Christmas Caroling on December 9, and I also want to encourage you to come! We are inviting the entire community, so please join us even if you do not have children attending Enrichment. We also have a combined field trip for our Blue Group (ages 10-12) and our High School classes, to the William F. Barr Entomological Museum at the University of Idaho on December 2nd. Next semester classes are shaping up and will be available for sign-ups soon. One highlight will be a cooking class to be conducted at the Community Kitchen at the Latah County Fairgrounds on Monday mornings taught by Christy Pense. That class will be available to students ages 10-18, so if your child is interested in cooking, this is a tremendous opportunity. Also, we're really excited to be offering Speech & Debate for our secondary students! More info to come on that. The entire slate of next semester’s classes will be announced in a few short weeks!
