Uniform Policy 2027-2028
GENERAL POLICY The Uniform Policy is rooted in a desire to create and promote a learning environment where attire is not a distraction to the educational process. Therefore, students are required to adhere to this policy while participating as a student. This policy is based on the following principles: Clothing historically calls attention to the role someone has in society (e.g., law enforcement, medical professionals, clergy, athletes, military). School uniforms are a visual reminder of the purpose of students, which is to learn. Clothing choices are not neutral and have often been used as a way of distinguishing people (e.g., socio-economics, name brands, preferences). Uniforms remove the distraction. While clothing is often associated as a means of personal expression, uniforms remind students that their primary expression comes from character choices rather than clothing choices. Uniforms engender a sense of common identity and goals, signifying that students are part of a community that strives together.
Other benefits of uniforms: Uniforms can save time by limiting morning choices for kids. Uniforms should save families money by de-emphasizing the social impact of clothing. Uniforms provide a safe environment by allowing staff to identify nonstudents easily and quickly.

GENERAL POLICY Ladies Hair must be natural colors and feminine. Hair accessories must be fitting to the style of the uniform, which is modest and conservative. Light makeup allowed. Nail polish is allowed as long as the colors are classy and fitting to the uniform. No artificial nails. No visible tattoos or body piercing jewelry. Earrings are allowed and must be classy and fitting to the uniform. Watches may not make noise, have smart technology or be cumbersome to wear. If hair accessories or jewelry become a distraction, the teacher has the discretion to request they be removed. Skirt hems must reach the top of the knee. All top wear must have embroidered Veritas Logo.
Gentlemen Hair must be kept in a traditional boys haircut, above collar and neatly groomed. No coloring or unnatural look of hair permitted. No distinctive lines or different lengths of hair. No chains, earrings, body piercing jewelry or visible tattoos. Watches are the only visible jewelry allowed for boys; they may not make noise, have smart technology, or be cumbersome to wear; if watches becomes a distraction, the teacher has the discretion to request it be removed. Shirts must be tucked in. Belt must be worn. All top wear must have embroidered Veritas Logo. All jackets and sweaters must have Veritas Logo. All uniform pieces must be purchased from Lands’ End, except for pants and shoes.

SPECIAL DAYS Dress Days & Non-Dress Days Mondays and Wednesdays are Non-Dress Days. Thursdays are Dress Days. Students may wear Dress Day attire any day of the week, but Non-Dress Day attire may not be worn on Dress Days. Tops must have logo.
Track & Field Days On designated Track & Field Days or other such occasions, students will wear basic navy blue mesh shorts/joggers and dry fit shirts. Tops must have logo. *Hoodies must have a logo and may only be worn on special days. They may not be worn in the classroom.
