Join the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA) in celebrating Redevelopment Week, September 14–18, 2026, as we highlight the people, projects, partnerships, and investments helping shape the future of Fort Pierce. The City of Fort Pierce will officially recognize Redevelopment Week with a proclamation during the September 8 City Commission meeting.

MURAL PROGRAM The Mervis Mural is a vibrant new addition to Fort Pierce, created by talented artist Sitki Doğan. The mural has received tremendous attention and an overwhelmingly positive response from residents, visitors, and the community. Its bold colors and creative design have brought new energy and character to the area, creating a striking visual landmark in Fort Pierce.

STREETLIGHT POLE BANNER PROGRAM
Youth Banner Art Showcase
The FPRA Youth Banner Art Showcase pole banners are complete and ready for installation. The banners feature artwork submitted by local students and celebrate the creativity and talent of the community while enhancing the visual identity of the Peacock Arts District. FPRA staff will be coordinating with Public Works over the next several weeks to schedule and complete the installation of the banners throughout the district.

Commercial Facade - Program CLOSED The FPRA's Commercial Façade Grant Program application cycle closed on July 20, 2026. The program received six applications from commercial property owners seeking matching grants of up to $25,000. Staff is currently coordinating mandatory pre-application review meetings with applicants and City departments to evaluate the proposed improvements before presenting funding recommendations to the CRA Advisory Committee and the FPRA Board for consideration.
Commercial Sign
The FPRA continues to accept applications for its Commercial Sign Grant Program, which provides reimbursable grants of up to $5,000 to help businesses within the FPRA District replace outdated signage with attractive, high-quality signs. The program supports business visibility, enhances commercial corridors, and contributes to the overall appearance of the redevelopment areas. BEFORE

JAYCEE PARK IMPROVEMENT The City Commission and FPRA Board approved the Interlocal Funding Agreement for the Jaycee Park Improvement Project. Staff is amending the agreement to reflect an increased cost for the playground sail shade and other potential upgrades. An agreement will be presented to the FPRA Board in September for approval, allowing the vendor to begin repairs. The project includes replacing eight (8) pavilion roofs and installing the sail shade structure. The mural on the FPUA water tank has been completed.

JAYCEE PARK WATER TANK MURAL The Jaycee Park Water Tank Mural is officially complete, and the community response has been incredible! Artist Christian Stanley did an outstanding job transforming the water tank with vibrant colors and a creative design that has quickly become a new visual highlight in Fort Pierce.

JAYCEE PARK WATER TANK MURAL The mural has generated an incredible outpouring of positivity, with more than 1,400 likes, over 100 comments, and 153 shares on Facebook. The excitement and enthusiasm from residents and visitors truly demonstrate the impact of public art and the pride people have in their community.

PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS Jetty Park West
The FPRA Board and City Commission have approved the funding agreement for the Jetty Park West Improvements Project. This initiative will upgrade the existing parking area with improved circulation, enhanced parking layout, decorative lighting, landscaping, and other amenities designed to elevate the visitor experience. These enhancements are expected to support tourism, strengthen community events, and contribute to the continued revitalization of the South Beach District. Design work is anticipated to be completed by October 2026, with construction planned for Fiscal Year 2027.
Depot Drive The FPRA Board and City Commission have approved the funding agreement and authorized engineering services for the Depot Drive Parking Lot Improvement Project. The survey has been completed, and the project is advancing through the 30% design phase to enhance parking, lighting, drainage, landscaping, and overall visitor experience in downtown Fort Pierce.

INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS Indian River Drive: Seaway Drive to Avenue A
Current construction activities include stormwater drainage improvements, irrigation conduit installation, tree relocations, electrical utility relocations, and roadway subgrade and base construction. Curb and gutter and sidewalk installation are also progressing throughout the project area. Final project completion is anticipated in Spring 2027.
Avenue D Reconstruction Avenue D construction continues to progress. Construction of the ADA ramp improvements and crosswalk replacements continues on the south side of Avenue D from 13th Street to 7th Street. Sidewalk construction on the west end of Avenue D from 29th Street to 25th Street continues.
Delaware Ave. & 33rd St. Intersection Improvements Both FPUA Gas and FPUA Water utility relocations are underway this week along S. 33rd Street, north and south of Delaware Avenue intersection. Drainage pipe crossings beneath S. 33rd Street are being completed concurrently with the utility relocation work. Once these activities are complete, the remaining drainage improvements will follow, along with sidewalk and curb replacement.

GATEWAY SIGNS Comprehensive Sign Program
The Gateway Sign Project continues to make progress. The required Community Aesthetic Feature Agreements (CAFAs) have been approved by FDOT for the installation of gateway signs at Okeechobee Road at the I95 interchange and Orange Avenue west of Jenkins Road. Staff is now coordinating with the contractor to schedule the installation of the gateway signs. LINCOLN PARK
Master Plan
The First Draft of the Lincoln Park Master Plan has been completed and is scheduled to be presented at the FPRA September 15 meeting. The draft incorporates significant public input gathered through community engagement exercises and workshops and includes detailed design concepts for Avenue D and surrounding neighborhood areas. The plan also features a comprehensive zoning and mapping analysis of the community, along with renderings that illustrate proposed design concepts and improvements. Feedback received during the September presentation will help guide the plan toward final completion. Please stay tuned for the Work-in-Progress Presentation!

FREEBEE The Freebee program continues to be a strong mobility resource for the community, providing convenient, no-cost transportation throughout the year. A total of 4,821 rides were completed during the month of July, serving 6,201 passengers. The majority of riders requested trips through the Freebee mobile app, with 4,032 rides booked via the app. Usage remained highest among ages 35-50, accounting for 35.2% of all riders, followed closely by ages 21-34 at 34.9%. These trends reflect the program’s appeal to workingage adults and reinforce Freebee’s role in supporting daily travel, access to destinations, and overall connectivity within the community.
