Thisprojectisa7,000sqft,two-story mixed-usebuildinginPullman, Washington,featuringaconstruction managementofficeandfloristonthe groundlevel,andaprivateowner's residenceabove,designedforthe Winstonfamily.Thedesignfocuses onclearpublic-privateseparation, efficientcirculation,andthecohesive integrationofcommercialand residentialspaces.
Concept Statement
Theconceptforthisspaceistitled“Purposein Bloom.”Ithasbeendesignedtocombinethe couple’slives,Claire’sloveforflowers,and Nathan’sforstructureandcraftsmanship.It needstobeagrounded,warmspacewhere creativitycanflowfreely Thedesignisa blossomingstoryofrootedbalanceanda stress-freerhythm.Theconceptisrootedin nature,drawinginspirationfromthebeautiful floralarrangementsandnaturalelementsof construction.

Concept Statement
Thisdesignisinspiredbytheclient’sraku-fired pottery;thedesigndrawsfromitsorganic forms,earthytones,andtexturedsurface. GroundedGrainisaluminaireinspiredbythe RollinghillsofthePalouse,andisamagnificent 11ftindiameter.Formedfromtranslucentresin embeddedwithlocallyharvestedwheat,its soft,unevencurvessignalsafetyandremind theoccupantsofthebeautifulviewwaitingfor themabove.Warm2700–3000KindirectLED lightingdiffusesthroughthefibers,minimizing glareandcreatingagentle,restorativeglow. Thesculpture-likelightsubtlydefineszonesfor waiting,socializing,orfocusedwork,fostering comfortandorientation.
