School Goals

Through our commitment to an inclusive model of service and the use of standards-based curriculum, we craft engaging and relevant lessons that capitalize on our students' backgrounds and experiences. We believe in the development of the whole child and work to weave social and emotional learning into daily instruction, thus preparing our students for college and career. Our targeted school-wide goals for the 2023-24 school year included increasing students' foundational skills in reading and math, language, and student safety and belonging.

State Goals

The Oregon Department of Education is collaborating with school districts and communities across the state to achieve a 90% ontime graduation rate by 2027. Grounded in the pillars of Academic Excellence, Belonging and Wellness, and Reimagined Accountability, ODE prioritizes evidence-based practices to boost early literacy, attendance, and student engagement. We are committed to closing opportunity and achievement gaps for marginalized students and securing long-term success for all of Oregon’s learners by investing in culturally responsive practices, fostering inclusive environments and always driving for continuous improvement.

Safe & Welcoming Environment

We recognize the diversity and worth of all students, individuals and groups, and are committed to both educating and providing a safe and inclusive space for everyone, regardless of their race, color, religion, immigration status, or any other basis. We believe that students learn best when they feel safe and valued. Our staff is skilled, caring, and dedicated to fostering each student’s academic and personal growth in a supportive and welcoming environment. About Our School

BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES

Our number one priority and goal is to ensure students feel safe, valued, and welcomed on a daily basis. To that end, we have a network of adults, systems, structures, protocols, and other supports we leverage to keep our school as safe as possible. We believe in restorative practices and working collaboratively with families to support our students as they develop their social and emotional skill set. To learn more about the District’s definition and response to bullying and/or harassment, please see Board Policies JFCF and JFCF-AR: Hazing, Harassment and Bullying, as well as the Standards of Student Conduct

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At Lenox, we strive to offer a variety of opportunities for our students such as Oregon Battle of the Books, Band, Choir, Garden Club, Student Leadership Team, TAG program, and Booster-sponsored activities such as Win with Reading and Science Fair. This year, our STEAM club served over fifty students and had a focus on diverse individuals who have contributed to the development of and research in the area of STEAM.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT

At Lenox, we have an active and highlysupportive Parent Booster Club that provides both volunteers in and around our school, and funding for a variety of classroom and school-wide projects through our annual fun run, Lenox Laps. Our goal is to involve as many families as possible. Back-to-School Night, Welcome Back Conferences, World Literacy Night, Monthly PRIDE! Assemblies, and Science Fair were great ways to connect with families and invite volunteers to support our school.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Lenox strives to create positive connections with our community to ensure the development of our students' career, college, and life-readiness skills, as well as to build their appreciation of the importance of community involvement. Examples include Right Brain Initiative Partnership; Read Across America Day; Virtual Field Trips and Guest Speakers; and Booster Club-sponsored events such as Dining Night Out, Movie Nights, and Feast & Festival. We also partner with the YMCA to offer before and after-school care for our families to ensure that our students have an extension of their school day in a safe and supportive environment.

We use Character Strong as our anti-bullying and character development curriculum focusing on social-emotional learning. Administration is present in all hallways, bus ramps, and lunch supervision and uses the HSD student code of conduct handbook.
