Greetings to fellow Hereford breeders across the province. It’s an exciting time to be in the beef industry—recordhigh cattle prices are opening doors we haven’t seen in years, and the Hereford breed is positioned better than ever to lead the way into a strong future with the “Better Your Beef” strategy. Herefords have long been known for their unmatched efficiency, docility, feed conversion, and the kind of hybrid vigor that drives profitability in commercial herds. And now, as buyers and feeders demand more consistency, performance, and carcass quality, the Hereford breed is poised to be a leader based on all the work that the membership has done to improve our breed over the past many years. Across British Columbia and beyond, we’re seeing renewed energy and opportunity. This is our moment to promote what we’ve always known: Hereford genetics work. They work for ranchers, for feeders, and for the beef industry as a whole. Let’s harness this momentum—let’s showcase our genetics, support our breeders, and connect with commercial producers looking for reliable, profitable cattle. Whether it’s at sales, field days, or local events, every conversation is a chance to promote the value of Herefords in today’s marketplace. Together, we’re building a future where the Hereford breed continues to thrive—rooted in tradition, fueled by innovation, and driven by results. Let’s make this year one to remember. Kym Jim
