Submit your Community Notice on/by 10th of the month, to be included in the following edition. Notices may be edited or omitted due to space limitations. E: info@districtgazette.com.au
Travellers will have another convenient and efficient way to travel between Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) and key Sydney transport hubs, with the launch of express electric shuttle service Super Shuttle WSI,
in partnership with NSBC Group. Super Shuttle WSI will provide express and direct electric bus transfers for passengers travelling between WSI and key locations including Parramatta CBD, Sydney CBD and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. Tickets are on sale now and launch pricing includes one-way adult tickets from WSI to Parramatta CBD for $25, to Sydney City for $55, or to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport for $65. Bookings and further information is available at https://www. supershuttle.com.au/wsi/bookings. WSI CEO Simon Hickey said the new five-year partnership would further expand the choice and flexibility available to passengers travelling to and from Sydney’s new 24-hour airport, strengthening the range of convenient travel options from public bus links, car hire, taxi, rideshare, and expansive on-site parking. “With the launch of passenger services from 25 October, we’re thrilled to announce Super Shuttle WSI’s express and direct shuttle bus services - available to passengers from the first flight,” he said. “Our focus is on making every stage of the journey as smooth and straightforward as possible, including travel to and from the airport. Passengers will be able to enjoy a great onboard experience including luggage racks, dedicated space for prams and wheelchairs, and exclusive bus bays for boarding and disembarking at the airport. “Super Shuttle WSI will provide a comfortable and convenient connection between WSI and some of Sydney’s major transport centres, no matter what time of day or night you are arriving or departing.” Services will initially be scheduled to align with arriving and departing flights, helping passengers move seamlessly between WSI and Sydney’s major commercial and transport centres. NSBC Group Chief Commercial Officer Paul Anderson said WSI passengers would benefit from the electric, low-floor bus fleet, with each bus including capacity for 37 passengers, additional standing, and space to accommodate two wheelchair users. "We are pleased to offer this highly convenient private shuttle service to passengers from when the first flights take off from WSI on October 25, aligned across WSI's evolving flight schedule," he said. "It's especially great to be able to offer discounted prices for the launch of Super Shuttle WSI – including for adults, children, and families travelling together. The direct, express nature of our services will deliver passengers to the hearts of the Parramatta and Sydney CBDs, as well as Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport, with a comfortable, efficient and reliable service." From the launch of passenger services on 25 October 2026, tickets will also be available at kiosks in and around the WSI airport terminal, offering a convenient timetable with widespread connectivity. r Image/Article: Western Sydney International Airport

Save the Date for This Year’s Garage Sale Trail One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, with Garage Sale Trail returning this November for two weekends of buying, selling, swapping and reusing. Garage Sale Trail is Australia's biggest secondhand treasure hunt, making it the perfect opportunity to declutter, sell, swap or give away unwanted quality items and make some money. Every November, homes, unit blocks, schools, community groups and charities across the country host garage sales and secondhand markets, all on the same two weekends. This year, Garage Sale Trail will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November and then again on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November for two weekends of buying, selling and reusing. Mayor of Camden, Cr Vince Ferreri, said it was free to take part in the initiative. “You simply list your garage sale to get a sale page online that provides what’s on offer and get to work decluttering,” he said. “More than 4 million pre-loved items go up for sale so you can find almost anything on the Garage Sale Trail, so it’s an incredible movement to be part of. “Did you know the average garage sale made $683, and $65,523 was made for local households, community groups and charities at last year’s event? And even more amazing than that is the fact that, thanks to this initiative, Australians managed to keep 418 tonnes of products and items in use, saving it from landfill.” No garage? No worries! Camden and Wollondilly Shire Councils are joining forces again for Macarthur’s Biggest Garage Sale on Saturday 14 November, 8am-3pm, at Onslow Park, 1 Cawdor Road in Camden. This much-loved event allows residents and community groups who can't or prefer not to sell at their own property to still get involved by selling their pre-loved items from a car boot or their own stall as part of a group sale. For more information on the initiatives, tips, support and promotional materials, and to see what garage sales are happening near you, visit https://www.camden.nsw.gov.au/ waste/news-and-events/garage-sale-trail

Looking for a simple way to get moving, soak up nature and enjoy everything Camden has to offer? Camden Council is encouraging residents to lace up their walking shoes and explore some of the area's beautiful parks, trails and open spaces as the weather warms up. Their top five picks for your local adventures are: • Nepean River Trail – one of Camden's signature open spaces, the award-winning Nepean River Trail follows the river through peaceful bushland and open parkland. Along the way you'll find picnic areas, public art, playgrounds and plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the views; • Curry Reserve – located in Elderslie, Curry Reserve offers wide open green spaces, walking paths and modern playgrounds, making it perfect for families looking to spend time outdoors. There's plenty of room for a leisurely stroll, kick of the footy or picnic; • The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan – found on Camden’s doorstep, bordering Mount Annan, the Botanic Garden features kilometres of walking tracks through native bushland, lakes and gardens. Choose a short wander or spend a few hours exploring; • Birriwa Reserve – this Mount Annan location is ideal if you're after a peaceful neighbourhood stroll. The reserve features open green spaces and walking paths that connect with surrounding areas, making it a great option for an easy afternoon walk; • John Oxley Reserve Recreational Trail – completed in 2025, this high-quality nature-based walking experience strengthens Camden's green and blue grid network while celebrating the area's rich environmental and historical character; and • Belgenny Farm Heritage Walk – you’ll combine fresh air with local history at Belgenny Farm. Wander the historic precinct and surrounding grounds while learning about one of Australia's oldest farm complexes and Camden's rich agricultural heritage. Mayor of Camden, Cr Vince Ferreri, said sometimes the best adventures were right around the corner. "You don't need to travel far to discover something new or appreciate your environment in a different way," he said. "Whether it's a peaceful stroll along the Nepean River, a family walk through one of our many reserves or simply taking a different route through your neighbourhood, there's plenty to explore. “Council maintains hundreds of hectares of parks and open spaces for residents to enjoy year-round, so why not take the scenic route this weekend?" Camden Community Invited to Commemorate Remembrance Day
The Camden R.S.L Sub Branch warmly invites members of the community to join them for their annual Remembrance Day Commemoration Service on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, at the Macarthur Gardens Memorial Site, Menangle Road, Camden, commencing at 10:30am. Each year, Remembrance Day provides an opportunity for Australians to come together in reflection, paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served our nation, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace and freedom. The Camden R.S.L Sub Branch is proud to continue this important tradition, bringing together veterans, their families, local schools, community organisations and residents to honour the service and sacrifice of generations past and present. Attendees are welcome to lay personal floral tributes during the ceremony as a meaningful gesture of remembrance and respect for those who have lost their lives in service to our country.
"Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the extraordinary courage, commitment and sacrifice of those who have served our nation. As a community, we have a responsibility to ensure their stories are never forgotten and that future generations understand the significance of the freedoms we enjoy today," said Carlene Cardona, Event Coordinator for the Camden R.S.L Sub Branch. "Seeing our local community come together each year, particularly our younger generations, is incredibly important. It demonstrates that the spirit of remembrance remains strong and that the legacy of those who served continues to be honoured." At 11:00am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Australians pause to observe a minute's silence, marking the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front in 1918. More than a century later, this tradition continues to remind us of the devastating impact of conflict and the importance of working towards a peaceful future. The Camden R.S.L Sub Branch encourages the entire community to take part in this significant occasion, standing together in gratitude, reflection and remembrance. Event Details: Date: Wednesday, 11 November 2026 Time: 10:15am for a 10:30am start Location: Macarthur Gardens Memorial Site, Menangle Road, Camden Attendance: Open to all members of the public, local schools and community organisations. MORE FOR YOUR HOME.
LESS ON YOUR TILES. For families building or renovating around Oran Park, choosing tiles means balancing the look they want with the budget they have. Bargain Factory Tile Outlet in Campbelltown brings together a broad range of tiles and practical advice to help make that choice easier. Director Luke Johnson has returned to the tile industry after retirement, rebuilding relationships with leading Sydney tile wholesalers. Those relationships and buying opportunities help the business source quality products at exceptionally low buying prices, passing the value on to customers. The range includes floor, wall, bathroom and outdoor tiles, mosaics, porcelain pavers, travertine tiles and travertine pavers. Customers can explore styles for
everything from a small bathroom refresh to a complete home renovation. Luke encourages renovators to look beyond colour alone. Take a sample home and compare it with cabinetry, paint and benchtops in the room’s own light. Check that the tile suits its intended use, particularly for outdoor areas and wet floors, and allow for cuts and wastage when working out quantities. Keeping spare tiles is another useful step. A few extra pieces can help with future repairs, when finding the same colour and batch may be difficult. For local homeowners, the aim is straightforward: find a finish that suits the home, get clear advice and make the renovation budget go further.

Harrington United FC is celebrating a successful 2026 season, marked by outstanding team performances, strong player participation and the completion of its upgraded facilities at Harrington Reserve. Club President Ray Zammit said the club had registered 945 players across 68 teams this year, reflecting the strength of football in the local community. Among the season’s highlights was the Under 14/15 Girl’s team, which won its Grand Final and was named Junior Team of the Year. The All-Age Women’s team also enjoyed an exceptional season, finishing as Minor Premiers and champions before being named Team of the Year. “It has been an exciting year, with a lot of our teams making Semi-Finals and Grand Finals,” Ray said. He also acknowledged the contribution of the club’s volunteers, thanking the executive and general committees for their commitment throughout the season. “We thank all our executive committee and general committee members for all their volunteering time throughout the season,” he said. Another major milestone for the club has been the handover of its upgraded facilities, completed on schedule with the support of Camden Council. Ray paid tribute to everyone involved in bringing the project to life, particularly Diana Zammit, Samantha Veres and Zoltan Veres, who began the project in 2017. He also thanked Camden Council. “We are very pleased to announce that our new facilities have been handed over,” Ray said. “A massive thank you to Camden Council and everyone who was involved in the upgrade.” He said the improvements would provide lasting benefits for players, families and the wider community. “Our members and the community will enjoy these fantastic facilities during both the summer and winter competitions throughout the year,” he said. The club’s summer competition kicked off on Tuesday, October 6, attracting approximately 1,300 players across 140 teams, all competing at Harrington Reserve. With the new facilities ready and summer football underway, Harrington United FC is looking forward to another exciting season while continuing to strengthen its role as an important part of the local community.

History Made by Oran Park Hockey Club
Amelia’s Remarkable Year in the Spotlight
It has been a landmark year for Oran Park Hockey Club, one filled with firsts, finals appearances, and moments that will be talked about long after the season wraps up. With 182 registered members and 14 teams, plus two joint teams with Mounties Club, the 2026 season was the club’s biggest and most successful to date. And at the heart of it all was a community growing stronger by the match. “My enjoyment is always watching our young players develop,” says Club President Michelle Brennan. “We have been focusing on building a culture of friendships within the club to help retain members, as well as cultivating team sportsmanship and club spirit.” That culture paid off in spectacular fashion this season. The Under 10s Lightnings team made history by becoming the club’s first ever Grand Final winners in the MSW Junior Competition, a milestone moment for players, coaches, and families alike. The club’s junior program as a whole performed so strongly that Oran Park Hockey Club was named 2026 Junior Club Champions, another first for the organisation. “It was very exciting,” Michelle says. “These were genuinely historic achievements for our club.” The senior women’s program also had plenty to celebrate. The B Grade Ladies team enjoyed a strong season and made the Grand Final, while the C Grade Ladies, after many seasons of giving their all without reaching the finals, broke through to the 2026 Final Series. “It was a great achievement for the ladies,” Michelle says. The recognition extended beyond club borders. Several senior players represented New South Wales in Masters competition across both indoor and outdoor hockey. Bradley Cox, a player and junior coach at the club, earned selection in the Australian Over 35s Indoor Hockey Team, which competed in Nottingham, England. And Under 14s player Oliver Stubbs was invited to trial for the NSW Under 14s team in just his third season of hockey. “He has a bright future ahead of him,” Michelle says of Stubbs, and it’s hard to argue. With a new season expected to begin in late March 2026, the club is already looking ahead and welcoming new players of all ages and experience levels. For registrations, information, or general enquiries, visit oranparkhockeyclub.com, find the club on Facebook, or email oranparkhc@hotmail.com.
For most young performers, landing one significant role in a year would be cause for celebration. For Amelia Noble-Murray, 2026 has been something else entirely. The talented young artist from Oran Park has packed an extraordinary amount into a single year, from performing on one of Australia’s most iconic stages to winning international recognition and earning acknowledgement in the NSW Parliament. The headline achievement was Amelia’s casting in Opera Australia’s production of Hansel & Gretel at the Sydney Opera House, which kept her busy for the first six months of the year with several performances a week. She played the role of Bedtime Girl, one of the children frozen in time in the Gingerbread House who magically awakens after the spell is broken, working closely with the production’s lead performers. “Every Opera experience is a chance to grow as an artist and performer,” Amelia says. “I love the opportunity to work at the Opera House with a world class orchestra and artists. We are expected to bring our best each show, and I also have fun doing what I love.” The role demanded strong vocals, performed without microphones, as is the operatic tradition, as well as physical and dramatic commitment across every show. Beyond the Opera House, Amelia’s year has spanned an impressive range of performances and achievements. She appeared at the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer for Macarthur, the Multicultural Children’s Festival, and the Teatro Cabaret Charity fundraiser alongside Musical Theatre royalty including Michael Cormick and Caroline O’Connor. She was selected as a solo artist at the Camden Boots and Beats Festival, received an Honourable Mention in NSW Parliament, and was nominated for Best Young Talent at the ACE Awards. A Gold Award in an International Music Competition also brought an invitation to perform in Vienna. The final months of 2026 show no signs of slowing down. A television commercial filmed recently will air around Christmas, a Winners Concert in Brisbane is imminent, and singing exams with her vocal coach Melanie Noble are underway alongside Christmas events and a new audition opportunity. “I just take each week as it comes,” Amelia says. “Especially at the end of the year, it can be super busy, but you just go with it.” Amelia trains vocally with Melanie Noble Singing and Performance Coaching, in dance with Keira Noble, and in classical ballet with Sian Sherwood and Village Nation. She attends St Patrick’s College.

Atura Oran Park Appoints Shannon Craig as General Manager Atura Hotels has appointed experienced hotelier Shannon Craig as General Manager of Atura Oran Park, adding to her current responsibilities as Area General Manager NSW, ahead of the hotel’s highly anticipated opening in October 2026. Shannon brings more than two decades of hotel leadership experience across Australia, New Zealand and the UK with EVT. Most recently General Manager of Rydges Parramatta and Area General Manager NSW for EVT, her career has also included leadership roles across Rydges Wellington and the Rotorua region, Atura Adelaide Airport and the South Australia region, QT Canberra, Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns and Rydges Kensington London. Her appointment comes as Atura prepares to open its newest hotel in the heart of Oran Park, one of South Western Sydney’s fastest-evolving communities. The 184-room hotel will bring together contemporary accommodation, signature restaurant and bar, flexible conference and event spaces, and an outdoor pool and terrace, creating a new place for locals, travellers and businesses to meet, stay and connect. As Area General Manager, Shannon is leading the property through its final pre-opening phase, overseeing the transition from development into operations, recruiting and training the hotel’s founding team, establishing service standards and systems, and building relationships across the local corporate, tourism and Camden communities. Shannon said the opportunity to open a hotel in a region undergoing such significant transformation was particularly exciting. “South Western Sydney has transformed remarkably. Oran Park itself has gone from a semi-rural area, best known for
its motorsport history, into a thriving town centre with new housing, retail and infrastructure,” she said. “There is a real sense of momentum here and our focus is on making sure Atura Oran Park becomes part of that community from day one. We’re building a great local team, developing strong relationships with businesses and tourism partners and creating a hotel that works just as well for the people who live here as it does for those travelling to the region,” she continued. The hotel will also open at a pivotal time for South Western Sydney, with Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport scheduled to commence operations in late 2026. Atura Oran Park is positioned approximately 20 minutes from the new airport, placing the hotel within one of Sydney’s most significant emerging business and visitor corridors. Shannon said the airport, alongside continued investment across the region, would create significant opportunities for the local visitor economy. “The opening of Western Sydney International Airport will be transformative for the region. It will bring new business and leisure travellers into South Western Sydney, while continued investment is attracting more businesses and events to the area. “Hotels have an important role to play in growing communities. They’re not simply somewhere to stay; at their best, they become places where people meet, celebrate and do business. That’s very much what we want Atura Oran Park to be.” The opening will mark a new chapter for both Atura and Oran Park, bringing the brand’s people-first, design-led approach to Sydney’s southwest. Reflecting Atura’s focus on being a neighbourhood staple, the hotel has been conceived as a social and hospitality hub for business and leisure travellers as well as the local community. Atura Oran Park will open at 135 Podium Way, Oran Park in October 2026.

Movember Calls on Aussies to Make a Growmitment for Men’s Health This November, Movember is calling on Australians to Make a Growmitment, challenging mates to make a commitment together and turn good intentions into action for men’s health. Whether it’s growing a moustache, moving 60km throughout the month, hosting a fundraising event or finding another way to get involved, the message is simple: make a commitment with a mate, back each other to follow through and help change the face of men’s health. The idea draws on Movember’s origins in 2003, when two mates challenged each other to grow moustaches and inspired 30 friends to join them. More than two decades later, that same spirit of mateship remains at the heart of the movement. Movember’s Make a Growmitment campaign taps into the power of shared commitments and a little friendly peer pressure. By involving a mate, Australians can help keep each other motivated, stay accountable and make taking action for men’s health part of their plans for November. There are plenty of ways to Make a Growmitment this Movember: • Grow a Mo: Start clean-shaven on 1 November and grow a moustache throughout the month to spark conversations about men’s health.
• Move 60km: Move 60km over November, representing the 60 men lost to suicide globally every hour, to support mental health and suicide prevention. • Host an event: Bring friends, family or colleagues together to fundraise and raise awareness for men’s health. • Mo Your Own Way: Take on a personal challenge that works for you, from a creative fundraiser to a goal you and your mates can tackle together. Australians can sign up individually or rally their mates, family and workmates to join them. Every commitment is an opportunity to start conversations, raise funds and help Movember fund vital men's health projects across mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The campaign also features a series of talent collaborations, including Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty and Australian comedians Aaron Chen and John Crunkshank, who are getting involved by taking on the moustache challenge. More collaborations will roll out throughout November. Men die nearly five years earlier than women, on average, and many of the health issues contributing to this gap are preventable. Movember is working to change this by funding research, delivering health programmes and encouraging more open conversations about men’s health. This November, Australians are encouraged to make their commitment, bring a mate along and help make a difference. MIND MATTERS Article Written + Submitted by: Keira Noble | Clinical Psychologist The Anxiety & Depression Clinic W: www.anxietydepressionclinic.com.au P: 0424 263 577 | 02 46266932
Perfectionism Are you a high achiever with exceedingly high expectations of yourself? Whilst working hard and having goals is helpful in providing drive and direction, holding rigidly to goals and holding oneself to unrealistic standards can impact our wellbeing. Perfectionism is a common problem for many people and can be a serious issue that often goes undetected. A perfectionist works relentlessly towards their next goal and is often tunnelvisioned in this pursuit, meaning that they can become fixated on their next task whilst dismissing other factors, including their own feelings, fatigue levels and environmental cues, such as the people around them. Whilst someone with perfectionism may be a high achiever and appear to others to be extremely successful, they often suffer from low self-esteem and are highly self-critical. Their perfectionism is often rewarded by the awards and accolades they receive from others, which provide brief feelings of reassurance. However, in the long term, they continue to suffer
from feelings of worthlessness that can lead to depression. Whilst perfectionism can be seen as an admirable trait, pathological perfectionism is motivated by a fear of failure rather than a desire to strive. Whilst we all like to succeed, it is important and healthy to be able to sit with the discomfort of making a mistake or failing on occasion, as this is an inevitable fact of life. Behaviour Changer for Perfectionism • Take a moment to check in — notice how you feel. • Bring your awareness to the current moment. • Notice any rigid rules you have (“I have to”, “I should”, “I can’t”) and see if you can hold them lightly. • Regularly set small tasks where you make a small error, leave part of a task incomplete or leave something unchecked. • Employ the “near enough is good enough” sentiment for some tasks and practise sitting with the discomfort this provides.

November has a way of changing the rhythm of local life. The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up and Christmas is suddenly just around the corner. Weekends fill quickly, calendars get busier and thoughts turn to celebrations, end of year plans and everything still to be ticked off the list. It is also a great time to support the people who help our neighbourhoods thrive. Whether it is grabbing a coffee locally, shopping with an independent business, booking a local service or recommending a business to a friend, those small choices can make a real difference. And then there are neighbours. The good ones make a neighbourhood feel like a community. They lend a hand, keep an eye out, say hello and occasionally even return the bin without being asked. Every neighbourhood has its characters, but thankfully the good ones make up for the occasional rogue resident! At District Gazette, we love sharing the businesses, achievements, events and everyday moments that give our communities their personality. “Kindness is the one thing that makes a neighbourhood feel like home.”
