Council Services

RATES

Northern Grampians Shire Council rates are payable in four quarterly instalments. We do not have a lump sum option. Instalment notices will be issued approximately one month prior to the due date of each instalment. Rate notices can be sent electronically via Ezybill, please contact the rates team who can assist you to register.

Payments can be made by fortnightly direct debits, BPAY, Australia Post, by mail or in person at one of Council’s Customer Service centres. Please ensure your contact information is up to date. Changes can be made by completing a form on our website, via email or by sending written advice of your new details.

BUILDING AND PLANNING INFORMATION

Our Building Services Team and Planning Team work to meet council's statutory obligations and ensure compliance with building and planning legislation and other regulations.

The Online Planning and Building Portal (Greenlight) is your one-stop-shop for:

• Applying for a Building Permit

• Report and Consent Applications

• Applying for a Planning Permit

• Amend or object to a planning permit application

LOCAL LAWS

All cats and dogs from the age of 12 weeks need to be registered with council and permanently implanted with a microchip. Registration renewals are payable annually in April.

Halls Gap is a ‘Cat-Free Zone’

No occupier of a property in Halls Gap may keep a cat in their possession.

Local Laws Permits

A local laws permit is required for:

• Placing displays or goods on footpaths

• Keeping excess animals

• Street trading/collections/raffles

• Disabled parking

• Placing rubbish skips on a road surface

• Activities occupying parking spaces

• Open air fires and burning green waste
