Glide across the calm waters of Long Lake Provincial Park on a kayak or paddleboard from Long Lake Adventure Company. YORK REDOUBT NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE Fergusons Cove
High on a bluff overlooking the entrance to the Halifax Harbour sit the remains of a fortification that helped protect the port of Halifax through three centuries of Canadian history. Part of Halifax’s formidable Defence Complex, York Redoubt, was constructed in 1793, just as war broke out between Britain and France.

The SS Atlantic Heritage Park is a memorial to those who perished in the sinking of the SS Atlantic off the shores of Lower Prospect on April 1, 1873. The waterfront park features ocean views, a seaside boardwalk, and the Interpretive Centre.
