E-Bike Ride from Kaura to Virgin Beach

Away from the busy southern Balinese shores and the popular green landscape of Ubud lies a less-frequented world filled with immersive explorations, that discerned travellers will be elated to discover. One of them is an awe-inspiring e-bike adventure which came about from a collaboration of sustainable forces under Discova brand and local communities in Manggis. From the start at Kaura to an end at Bali’s Virgin Beach, this is an experience, second to none.
The ride starts in the morning at the eco-retreat of Kaura situated atop rice paddy-painted hills of Manggis. After being warmly welcomed by your cycling guide, the ride commences once the bikes are appropriately adjusted for a comfortable ride along the undulating ridgeline of East Bali. As we pedal downhill and over some short, sharp inclines, the use of e-bikes makes the ride even a leisurely and exhilarating one for all visitors above the ages of 14.
On the way, clients get a serene view of moss-covered shrines, nestled below massive trees, capturing the spiritual essence of the island. Ample stops are made along the way to soak in the breathtaking views, including a visit to a local bee farm, known for its delectable honey. The owners are deaf but masters in turning the nectar collected by bees into delicious sugary-sweet produce.
The final part of this morning ride descends towards the majestic sea which stretches out to the horizon in front, with more picturesque landscapes appearing around every corner. The remote contours of Virgin Beach mark the end of this morning ride, making way for a cool-down on its shores or a dip in the waters of this hidden treasure. After enjoying a Balinese lunch served near the beach, we ride back up to Kaura’s Community Hub by airconditioned mini-van and bid farewell to the black volcanic cliffs and the ever-smiling faces of the Manggis people.
