An Authentic Balinese Cooking Experience

Bali, Indonesia

Private | Half-Day | Food

mmersing oneself in Bali’s local cuisine often means discovering new ways to savour the region’s gastronomic delights. We, for one, have continually expanded our food touring options thanks to the rise of organic farming and sustainable practices by master chefs in local communities, which honour the farm-to-table concept in the most holistic way.

A perfect example of this lies in Manggis, a less-explored part of eastern Bali, where the residents share a deep relationship with the land they inhabit and are committed to showcasing its bounty through diverse and innovative means. The cooking experience organised here is planned and managed by the very capable members of the Manggis Women’s Farmer Group, who are experts in the region’s cuisine and organically grow the ingredients that give Balinese food its signature taste.

We start the tour at the community garden, where visitors handpick vegetables and herbs. They’ll later use these ingredients during the cooking demonstration to whip up a three-course meal using time-honoured tools and techniques, as shown by an expert chef.

This introduction to the world of Balinese flavours and spices will provide travellers with tips and tricks that they will be most eager to carry back home. Food acquires special meaning and significance when prepared and consumed in the same environment it is lovingly grown. And this experience, which concludes with a homemade lunch and the most gorgeous view, will do just that.
