Kichijoji & Shibuya: Where Tokyo Comes Alive

Shared | Half-Day | Culture & Community Tokyo, Japan

As one of the largest cities in the world, Tokyo offers a diverse range of modern, traditional and natural attractions which are visited by millions of global travellers every year. On this full-day tour, we explore two very different sides of Western Tokyo, to see local favourites spots as well as popular tourist jaunts.

First, we visit Kichijoji, and stroll in Inokashira Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Tokyo, where guests learn how to pray at a Japanese temple at the Benten Shrine, widely known as Benzaiten Shrine, which is the subject of one of the “One Hundred Views of Edo” by the infamous Ukiyoe artist Uoya Eikichi. The trees surrounding Inokashira provide shade during the hot season and bloom into beautiful cherry blossoms during spring. Next, we encounter the fairytale-like building of Petite Mura before trying different local snacks at Kichijoji’s shopping street.

After lunch we check out the busy district of Shibuya, see its famous five-way scramble crossing and Tokyo’s most important shrine, the Meiji Jingu. Later, visitors walk along the Harajuku neighbourhood, enjoy the unique and fashionable stores at Takeshita Dori shopping street before losing themselves in one of the many gaming arcades in this eclectic neighbourhood.
