Batu Caves Cultural Exploration Tour

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Shared | Morning | History & Heritage

Explore the diverse cultures, faiths and traditions of Malaysia on this four-hour tour from Kuala Lumpur. We start our day at the centuryold Hokkien-style Sam Kow Tong temple, also known as the ‘Temple of Three Teachings’ for being a confluence of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, whose tenets are essential to Chinese Culture. Along with the temple’s stunning traditional architecture, its location amid towering skyscrapers will mesmerise you in equal measure.

After having a light breakfast at a local coffee shop, reach the KL Sentral Station on foot to catch a train out of the city to the Batu Caves. One of Malaysia’s most important Hindu shrines is located inside a massive limestone cave complex, with its entrance being guarded by a 43-metre statue of Lord Murugan. Your expert local guide will take you through the ins and outs of this spectacular site and explain its significance amid the Indian community in Malaysia.

The last few hours of walking is sure to build an appetite that can only be satiated by the best of local dishes. Before concluding our tour, we head back into the city and visit the colourful neighbourhood of Jalan Masjid India to try a wide array of delicacies that are served on a banana leaf!
