o A growing number of students with disabilities are placed on home instruction while waiting for an appropriate educational placement. At the same time, students are legally entitled to education in the least restrictive environment. In this presentation by lawyers from Disability Rights New York, participants will learn:
What is meant by “least restrictive environment”
What considerations are relevant when a more restrictive placement is proposed?
What are a student’s rights when the placement they need is not available?
When is a “home instruction” placement appropriate and what is required?
What strategies are available to challenge long-term home instruction and placement waitlists?
