GETTING YOUR COVID-19 BOOSTER Boosters are available for everyone 5 years of age and older who have finished their primary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A booster shot is an extra dose of the vaccine that helps to boost your protection against COVID-19. A booster can help protect you from variants of COVID-19. A COVID-19 booster is made of the same ingredients as the original vaccine. The booster is safe.
WHY Get a Booster:
If you have a disability, you may be at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. The protection you get from a COVID-19 vaccine weakens over time. Staying up to date with boosters can help protect you for severe illness from COVID-19. Getting a booster can help protect you and those around you as COVID-19 rates go up.
WHEN to Get Your 1st Booster: 2-5 months after your last COVID-19 vaccine dose OR 3 months after being infected with COVID-19.
WHEN to Get Your 2nd or 3rd Booster: At least 2 months after your last booster OR 3 months after being infected with COVID-19. For more information on when to get your COVID-19 vaccine or booster, visit the CDC’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html.
