This publication is a resource for all stakeholders involved in special education including students, families, school professionals, advocates, attorneys, and others. This Digest provides summaries of cases involving a wide range of special education legal issues. It will be updated with new cases periodically. Most summaries focus on recent administrative and judicial cases in New York, but in some instances, older but important special education cases decided by the U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and other jurisdictions are included. Our hope is that through the use of this publication, parents, families and school districts will collaborate together to protect student rights and improve educational outcomes.
