Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, the grounds of which are pictured here, will serve as a pilgrimage destination during the Extraordinary Jubilee Year proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV in honor of the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, who, said Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, president of the University, “still captures the hearts and imaginations of the people of God.” Within the Diocese of Metuchen, both the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, Metuchen, and the National Blue Army Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Washington, are designated pilgrimage sites.
