A Unique Assisted Living Community Nestled Among the Trees

Sitting on three acres of wooded natural beauty, under the canopy of 25 mature oak trees, you’ll find a new way to help your loved ones experience a unique style of assisted living.

“Silverbelle Assisted Living will be a ‘wellness haven’ for area seniors. We will provide companionship, spiritual growth, fun activities, and top-notch care,” says Tracy Jones, one of the owners of Silverbelle.

Tracy and her husband, Jeff, a physician with experience in pain management, both cherish their time with family. While practicing, Dr. Jones enjoyed spending time talking with seniors, learning about their families, and just listening to them talk about their lives and needs. When he and Tracy started talking about those seniors and their need for compassion and an empathetic ear, they developed the idea to create a place where seniors would want to spend their golden years.

“A lot of my patients needed assisted living, but they didn’t like the idea of moving into a sterile, impersonal community,” Dr. Jones says. “I started thinking about how we could provide a clean, nice place for them to age in place.”

The couple, who met in Rosenberg, are raising their three children in Richmond. They loved the feel of the wooded neighborhoods and living among nature, under the trees. “This will be a family-oriented community that is owned and managed by a physician to offer vital care,” Tracy says.

With a 6:1 resident/caregiver ratio, Silverbelle Assisted Living will offer all of the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which are essential,

routine self-care tasks required to manage basic physical needs and maintain personal well-being. Tasks like: eating and feeding, bathing and grooming, dressing, mobility and transferring, toileting, and continence. The community offers 16 bedrooms, each with an ensuite, private bath.

“We’re also implementing two pieces of technology that will help us get to know our residents quicker and provide safety tools while they’re living with us,” Dr. Jones says.

CarePredict provides fall detection, real-time indoor location tracking, wander management alerts, and a two-way voice communication feature, while TSOLife provides detailed resident interviews to offer personalized engagements, social matching, and quality of life tracking.

“We know moving a loved one into assisted living is a hard decision for a family to make, and we want to provide a community where they don’t feel like they’re taking a step down in their living environment. We already have our first rooms filled with a couple of dinner mates and friends in their 90s,” Tracy says. “There is just something unique and special about Silverbelle. It’s an honor and a privilege for people to entrust us with their loved ones’ care.”

A Familiar Name, A New Generation of Excellence

Cathy Stubbs, leader of the Cathy Stubbs Team, passes on a strong reputation for determination and integrity, not just to her family, but also to her team of agents. That team includes her own son Carter, who feels lucky to experience his mom’s dynamic traits from two angles – from the point of view of a son and also an employee.

“My mom’s passion for real estate made me want to follow in her footsteps and help people find homes they love,” says Carter, who has been a member of her team since 2021, and joined his mom as a licensed real estate agent last year. “Growing up having my mother in real estate gave me a front row seat to what closing deals looked like. It’s exciting to watch her in action. I’ve watched her do her thing for years and am excited to be a part of it now.”

Known for her strong work ethic, Cathy

knows it’s one of the things that makes her so successful. She explains, “I work hard. There’s no magic – it just takes hard work.”

“I love working with my mom,” Carter says. “Our relationship is different from the typical one between a regular boss and their employee. From day one, I’ve been comfortable working with her – I’m assimilated to her style. It’s confidence boosting to have her on my side.”

Growing up in Sugar Land, Carter learned to love the community just as much as his mom. “I love working in Fort Bend County – it’s one of the best markets in the greater Houston area. Living and working here is incredible. Sugar Land offers elegance, convenience, and opportunity for everyone,” he explains. “Fort Bend has great schools, strong communities, and a steady market – it’s a great place to invest in a home. I’m excited to be in a prime position to help our great community grow.”

Cathy herself says, “I know everything there is to know about Fort Bend County and I bring that to the table for every conversation, negotiation, and transaction I’m involved in. I share that knowledge with my agents so they can offer the same, thought-

ful and thorough service during one of the biggest purchases in their customers’ lives.”

“Helping my son learn to do that every day is a gift many parents don’t get to experience,” she continues. “Carter inherited my determination and focus. It’s exciting to see him working with clients, helping them get the best deal on the perfect home. He’s great with clients, listens to their wishes, and goes to the table with natural negotiating skills that are always in their best interest.”

“She always pushes me to be my best,” Carter continues. “Every day, she shows me how to work hard, connect with clients, and make deals happen.”

Are you in the market to buy or sell a home? Don’t hesitate to reach out to Cathy or Carter. “Helping clients find a home they’re excited about is the best part – it’s rewarding to see their happiness,” Carter says.

Driven by Loyalty, Not Pressure

Two Cars in Two Weeks: A Classic Experience

There are many car dealerships between Lake Livingston and Sugar Land. Livingston resident, Bruce, and his family could go to Huntsville or the Woodlands, Conroe or Humble, or many other options along the 100+ mile, two-hour route to Sugar Land. But they keep coming back to Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land for more than a dozen years.

elax and enjoy the difference. Classic Chevrolet lives their slogan every day.

“Tommy Durant, who started Classic Chevrolet, instills this motto in his partners. Classic’s management team embraces its employees and makes them feel like they’re home,” explains Mike Ward, Executive Manager of Classic Chevy Sugar Land. “We want our employees to be happy because happy employees lead to happy customers.”

What has traditionally been an anxietyfilled experience has turned into a relaxing – even fun – experience at Classic. “People send family members to purchase vehicles over and over again,” Mike continues. “When you walk in, everyone has a smile on their face. And we don’t use high-pressure sales tactics. You don’t have to have your guard up when you’re dealing with one of Classic’s sales representatives.”

Mike attributes the no-pressure, family feel to the culture that has been built at Classic … a culture that trickles down to employees and into customer sales. “It doesn’t take new partners long to feel like they’re part of the team,” he explains. “And we have a lot of long-time employees.”

One of those long-time employees is Zac

Cypert, New Car Sales Manager, a former Dallas Cowboy. “I’ve been in Fort Bend County for 30 years,” he says, “and I started working at Classic Chevrolet 15 years ago. I love being at Classic because the management team makes me want to stay and do well for them. This business is like a big family. You’re not just an employee, you’re a cherished part of their family. I have a great work family and a great home family.”

“Our owners, the Durant family, are dedicated to treating both employees and customers in such a way that makes us feel like one big family,” says John Aldridge, General Sales Manager. “Your Classic family is here to welcome customers, and we treat them like we would our own family members.”

“We know car buyers have many choices when buying a car, so we appreciate our clients who continue to trust us year after year to serve them,” says Ray Aguilar, Community Relations.

“Mr. Durant is making a huge investment into our Fort Bend community,” Mike concludes. “He has empowered us to contribute to that investment in what we do every day at Classic Chevrolet.”

“When my son, Ryan, was looking, I said, ‘Let’s go to Classic,’” Bruce explains. “Ryan

is a first responder in the Huntsville area. His wife was in an accident and he needed to replace the vehicle. He loved the environment at Classic and was happy with the deals he got. He was so happy he ended up buying two vehicles – an Equinox and a Silverado – within two weeks!”

“I lived in Missouri City for eight years, then in Richmond for five years and I’ve known Ray Aguilar for many years. We know we’ll get great treatment from him and his colleagues,” Bruce continues.

Bruce credits his loyalty to Classic to its nice, clean showroom, the attitudes of Classic employees, and the “unbelievable selection” of cars available. “The salespeople are topnotch, and we didn’t get the time-consuming back-and-forth sales process that is so dreaded in the car business,” he says. “There can be a lot of fear when buying a car. Fear

of the long, intimidating process. Fear of not getting a good deal. At Classic, we never had to play that game.”

Passion Fuels Performance at Social Reach

“Our passion at Social Reach Consultancy is helping small to medium businesses handle everything associated with digital marketing for their own passion projects,” says co-founder, Jason Tello. “We have family and friends who are very good at running their own businesses but just don’t have the time or expertise to handle marketing and create websites. They just need a little help.”

After studying business management and marketing at UTSA, with a focus on digital marketing, Jason positioned himself to dive deep into what customare looking for and to help businesses to tap into those needs.

“I’ve always found the consumer psychology of marketing very interesting. For example, what makes people choose one service over another and why people make specific purchases,” he explains. “Often niche companies have a hard time competing with the big guys, but if you give them an identity and help them build own systems, they can get their own piece of the pie.”

Jason and his partner, LuzMarie Garcia, started Social Reach 18 months ago to clients an option in between the large agencies with higher costs and the less expensive shops that don’t offer ongoing support services. “As we’ve gone through journey, we have realized that a lot of marketing that businesses do for themis disjointed – their efforts weren’t built to work together. We can provide a cohesive system with projects that build off each other,” he says. having cohesive systems, campaigns don’t compete for attention instead, they build on one another. Alan’s Plumbing is known throughout Fort Bend County as the go-to family plumbing business. Three sons followed the company’s founder and namesake, Alan Burkhalter, into the family business – Beau and Luke, who work every day at Alan’s Plumbing, and Jake, who is in plumbing sales.

“We’re home-grown. All of our plumbers started here as apprentices. We have never hired a plumber who trained elsewhere. We like our plumbers to build on our strong inhouse training that starts with Alan,” Luke says.

“I grew up with friends whose families had family businesses, but none of my friends went into those businesses,” says Beau. “You don’t realize how special a family business is until you’re a part of it you just don’t understand the family legacy.” Alan himself personally trained his sons

on the ins and outs of the plumbing business. Both Beau and Luke started working at Alan’s when they were just 20 years old.

“I taught them everything I know about

rewarding. We know exactly what’s at stake when we go on a job – your family’s health and safety, and our own,” says Alan.

“When we started working with our dad, we’d visit clients and they always wanted Alan himself,” says Jake. “They always got Alan, but they got us too. We had to prove that we were as capable as our dad.”

For more than 30 years, Alan’s has been helping residents in Fort Bend County. The Burkhalters are all settled here and enjoy serving the community where they grew up.

“We are the community plumber. We still serve the same community we’ve been helping since 1996. We all work in the communities where we live. We like to build our customers the way we’ve grown our business –through trust and a family feel,” Luke explains. “My son, Wyatt, came on his first service call with me when he was just five years old. He said, ‘as soon as I’m out of my car seat, I’m coming to work with you all the time!’”

“We build personal relationships, which results in repeat customers. When we walk into their homes, we feel like we’re walking into our friends’ homes,” Beau adds.

Today, the brothers work with their dad, their Uncle Chris (Alan’s brother), and plumbers Jaime, Christian, and Anthony, with apprentices Nick, Noah, and PJ helping them out. Their mom, Jennifer, runs the back office with Katie and Katy.

“My boys have been helping their father with plumbing since they could hold a wrench,” says Jennifer.

Alan was raised on hard work and honesty.

Alan says, “My grandfather believed in core values and integrity, and he passed these ideals on to us. Here at Alan’s Plumbing, hard work is all in the family.”

“We are your local plumbers,” Luke concludes.

Walking Beside Families Every Step of the Way

The Ferguson family is a tight-knit group. Many of them live within minutes of each other in the same neighborhood. Two generations work in the family business together. They were already close, but in the face of difficult times, they became even closer.

In 2025 and 2026, the four Ferguson brothers (Steve, Alan, Neil, and Scott), their wives, and their children dealt with tremendous emotional loss. The brothers lost their mom, Gwen, in

March 2025, followed by their dad, Ross, in January 2026.

It was during the time right after Gwen passed that they learned just how much she had done for her husband. “My mother-in-law did it all.

It took a team to do everything after she passed,” says Steve’s wife, Shannon. Luckily, they found that team with the caregivers at Pax Et Vita Hospice & Home Care.

Alan’s wife, Jody, says, “Our text group was called Team RF – the entire family and team of caregivers from Pax Et Vita were on it. We valued them tremendously. We felt extremely blessed to have them in our lives.”

Pax Et Vita Hospice & Home Care values patients’ well-being, with an experienced and compassionate staff that helps patients, their families, and caregivers. They are dedicated to providing the highest level of care with a focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their patients. They are committed to providing a supportive, respectful and compassionate environment for everyone involved.

“Dad was physically perfect before the onset of dementia, but he just could not get over losing mom,” Steve says.

Shannon continues, “Ross was very sad, and the team would visit, keep him company, help him take his medications, and even walk his

dog. They spent enormous amounts of time with him. They would take him to appointments, followed by lunch at his favorite restaurant for fish and chips, and they were also tech support when he needed help with his TV.”

“They were an extension of our family for close to a year. My dad just needed someone to talk to every day,” Alan adds. “The caregivers from Pax Et Vita were his companions. As time went on, we added more and more hours with Pax Et Vita to be sure he always had someone there and didn’t get depressed.”

“I don’t know what we would have done without them. Ross fired the team daily, but he could not push them away,” Jody says. “Leslie (from Pax Et Vita) did things on the weekends, even on her off hours. She cared so much about him and she went well beyond her job.”

Shannon says, “They just kept showing up. They were all there when he passed and they all came to the funeral. We got so close that we still keep in touch with them.”

A month later, the team even visited the Fergusons at their office to give the family a gift. “They were all grieving too,” Jody says. “They just never said no. They were always there.”

A New Name,

the Same Trusted Care

Capital Internal Medicine Associates is changing its name.

“Capital has been a trusted name in medicine in Fort Bend County for years,” says Dr. Salman Aly, owner of the Capital practices. “We want our patients and the community to know that we are a practice that focuses on health, wellness, anti-aging, wellbeing, and prevention of conditions that can make life more difficult.”

Capital Health & Wellness Primary Care Providers has the same reliable physicians that have been helping the community for a decade. It simply has a new name to reflect on the expanded array of services offered.

“We’re expanding our primary care services and also offering preventative interventions, such as early detection of cancer via tumor marker screenings and specialized blood screening, anti-aging treatments, and innovative modalities, such as hyperbaric treatment, peptides, injections, NAD injections, infusions, and GLP-1s for weight loss,” says Dr. Salman.

To help these residents gain access to primary care, Capital is expanding its locations. Dr. Salman says “With a successful and firmly established primary care location in Sugar Land off Hwy 59 and University, we made the decision to extend this fundamental care to other nearby areas as well. That’s our vision – to provide primary care and effortless hospital admissions when needed to people who are currently challenged with finding appropriate care for themselves and their loved ones. There’s a huge need out there.”

Primary care provider

Together with his partner and brother, Dr. Sarfraz Aly, Dr. Salman has created a force in primary care in Fort Bend and the surrounding areas. Many of these areas have shortages of primary care providers, making it difficult for people to get the care they need. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), more than 74 million people live in 7,488 primary care shortage areas in the United States. The Southeast Texas region, which includes Sugar Land and Richmond, has been identified as having projected critical shortages in general internal medicine and geriatrics.

The most recent Capital Health & Wellness Primary Care Providers location covers Aliana and the surrounding areas. Aliana itself has a population of approximately 12,500 residents. People living in the surrounding master-planned communities like Harvest Green, Waterside Estates, and Long Meadow Farms, will all find this a convenient location.

“With the population growing so fast, especially those in the 65+ category, our community needs more physicians. Our goal with Capital Health and Wellness is to serve the increased population with primary care while also increasing the range of hospitals our practice can admit to when necessary,” Dr. Salman Aly concludes.

Decades of Dedication: Three Cousins, One Flooring Family

Cousins Ziad Mukhaimer and Imad Mansour had been in the flooring business for a few years when, in the late 80s, their cousin Mohamed Naser said, “Let’s work together and open a store.” Ziad and Imad were on board. “Almost 40 years later, here we are! Still operating Lone Star Floors in three locations,” says Ziad.

The cousins’ Sugar Land store is 12,000 square feet, and carries all flooring types, from carpet to hardwood to laminate and tile. “We also do full kitchen and bathroom

remodels, with access to subcontractors like electricians and plumbers,” Mohamed says. “It’s easier for our clients to deal with one company, without having to handle the subcontractors themselves.

The cousins’ family-focus spilled over into the cousins’ flooring business. At Lone Star Floor’s three Houston-area locations, they treat their customers like family. “I had an elderly gentleman who reminded me of my father, who passed away last year. He was so thankful for our service, he gave me a big hug,” Mohamed said. “I just treated him the same way I hoped people would treat my own dad.”

Mohamed and his wife raised five children in Sugar Land. Ziad also raised five children, while Imad raised two. “We’re a traditional family – my wife cooks all day on Fridays for family dinner,” Mohamed says.

“Doing business with a family-oriented store gives customers a sense of commitment and care,” Imad says. “The highest percentage of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals happy customers keep coming back a second, third, fifth, or tenth time.”

The store is full of laminate, hardwood, carpet, and specialty tile options to complete any flooring job that comes in. But it’s not just flooring on display – the store boasts luxurious lighting fixtures, modern wall panels, cabinetry, cabinet hardware and tons of shower wall and backsplash tile in distinct shapes with modern visual appeal. You’ll find popular brands like Shaw, as well as harder-to-find brands like Mohawk.

“The bottom line to our success is service,” Mohamed says. “We offer great warranties for installations and manufacturer’s warranties for their products.”

Restaurant Weeks Earns $10,000 for Local Food Pantry

Fifteen Fort Bend restaurants participated in the first-ever Fort Bend Restaurant Weeks April 619, donating $10,000 to East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, an organization that feeds thousands of families every year

For more than 35 years, EFBHNM has addressed the basic human needs of families facing food insecurity and/or temporary financial crisis in East Fort Bend County. In 2025, with EFBHNM’s assistance, 9,090 families were served through its food pantry, 18,326 children did not go hungry, 524 families were able to celebrate the holidays with a bountiful meal, and 427 children celebrated their birthday with a Birthday Bag.

The FBRW check presentation event was held at Talyard Brewing Co., one of FBRW’s participating restaurants, Thursday, May 14, with more restaurants, sponsors, and program contributors in attendance.

“We didn’t know what to expect without any previous numbers to guide us, but Fort Bend County didn’t let us down. They showed up in a big way to support their neighbors in need to the tune of $10,000!” says Stacey Williams, Executive Director of EFBHNM. “Reaching this milestone in our first year was both unexpected and exhilarating. We can only express a huge thank you to the restaurants, sponsors, and generous diners who made this happen.”

Fort Bend Restaurant Weeks was sponsored by UpClose Magazine (Media Sponsor), inKind (Founder’s Sponsor), where you can be rewarded for dining at your favorite restaurants, and Amaro Law

Firm (Community Sponsor), Fort Bend County’s personal injury and wrongful death law firm. Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More sponsored the FBRW merchandise sales.

Mark your calendars now for Fort Bend Restaurant Weeks 2027.

The Exchange Club of Sugar Land and the Fort Bend Exchange Club are teaming up to help Fort Bend residents celebrate our country’s 250th birthday on the 4th of July. “We’re so thankful to our event host, Prosperity Bank Sugar Land Banking Center. The event will be held at their Southwest Freeway location from 9am to noon, Saturday, July 4th,” says Doug Earle, the Exchange Club of Sugar Land member who is heading up the planning for this special event.

“We chose the Southwest Freeway location because it’s convenient, but also because their

building is modeled after Thomas Jefferson’s famous Monticello estate. It’s historical in nature, making it a great setting for our country’s 250th birthday celebration,” he continues.

At 10am, Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon will speak to event guests, as well as State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, and the President of the Prosperity Bank Sugar Land Banking Center, Tim Stubenrouch.

“There will be 250 American flags on display, representing every year of America’s history, 17762026, with a fact from each year. Cajun Heat

in the Heart of Fort Bend

For Louis, the journey to opening LA Cajun Table began years ago at his in-laws’ longtime Houston-area restaurant, LA Crawfish Shack. It was there that he discovered his passion for Cajun cuisine and the creativity that comes with developing memorable dishes.

“My love for the art of food and developing new dishes started there,” Louis says. “I learned to think outside the box to develop new dishes and flavor profiles.”

Today, that passion shines through every item on the menu at LA Cajun Table, where traditional Louisiana flavors meet innovative twists and generous hospitality. Among the restaurant’s most popular dishes is yakemein, a beloved New Orleans comfort food. Other customer favorites include the red beans and rice, made with several varieties of pork, and distinctive seasonings that deliver rich, authentic The menu also features honey pineapple glazed salmon that combines tropical sweetness with bold Cajun spices. “Our blackened seasoning is unique and delicious,” Louis explains. Seafood lovers can enjoy a variety

boiling pot dishes, including crab, shrimp, mussels and crawfish. The crawfish are available Texas-style, served with sauce, or the traditional Louisiana style without sauce.

Beyond the food, LA Cajun Table offers atmosphere designed to make guests feel at home. Beautiful teal and gold wallpaper sets the tone an upscale yet welcoming dining experience. accents, light wood finishes, elegant chandeliers, and luxurious teal curtains create a space that both stylish and comfortable.

“People tend to stay awhile,” Louis says. “It’s comfortable, peaceful environment. We genuinely seek to provide a high level of service with great pricing and generous portions.”

Guests can enjoy a full menu of appetizers, salads, fried baskets, po-boys, and Louisiana classics. And no visit is complete without an order of warm, beignets for dessert.

A Tranquil Transformation for Everyday Living

Did you know?

The Re-Modelista provides three hours of design services by a professional designer on every project at no charge!

Whether you’re struggling with design, or you have a great idea that you’re just not sure how to complete, complimentary design services will bring your remodel to life in a way you're sure to love

Patrick and Gina, married 40 years, have been in their Sugar Land home for 10 years. “This is my 17th house and it will be my last one!” Gina says.

When the couple decided to remodel, they went all in. Modern primary bathroom. Updated kitchen. Gutted hall bathroom. Fireplace mantle surround and corresponding breakfast room window wall.

They chose the Re-Modelista to do the work. “We just had a good feeling about Teri when we met her – we just got one quote and it was from Teri,” Patrick says.

It was a big project, but the entire process only took about seven weeks to complete. “They worked fast, even though we had three change orders that added to the project,” Patrick explains. “I’m very happy with the new fireplace mantle and tile. It’s a calming centerpiece to anchor the living room. I grew up in a highrise in Bombay on the oceanfront and wanted to bring that feeling into our home.”

A designer provided by the Re-Modelista helped the couple select the blue tile full of movement to complement the newly-painted blue mantle. They also added the same tile around the breakfast room’s windows directly across from the fireplace. “It was very soothing growing up on the oceanfront and the blue in my home is now very relaxing,” Patrick adds.

For Gina, the primary bath is the piece de resistance. Patrick calls it “our little Hollywood bathroom.” Because Gina has a disability they built the shower with a flat entry to meet potential future needs. The counters were also lifted and have undermounted lights.

“Lighted mirrors and artistic lights give it that ‘Hollywood’ look,” Patrick says.

“My bathroom is my favorite part of the remodel, espe cially the shower. I love the raised cabinets and I like openness of the room,” Gina says. “I also love my kitchen sink, stovetop, and glass cabinets. I love the openness the glass doors provide in the kitchen.”

In addition to the glass doors on the upper cabinets, Teri’s team painted the old cabinets bright white, replaced the countertops, and added the large, fiveburner cooktop that Gina loves.

Gina says, “Teri and her team were very hard working and professional. The foreman, Christian, is amazing. They even covered everything with plastic and brought in a commercial vent to minimize the dust in the house, for which I was very thankful. Everything went very smoothly.”
