My grandson, his wife and baby were visiting today. Such precious times that I want to last forever. My health has been slowly declining and then recently I got some devastating news that has put me into prayer and questions. I have received words that are seemingly assuring me that everything is going to be all right and I will be able to complete my mission here on earth. So, when I hear the words of the Dr. and the results of the tests, they don’t line up with what I am hearing in my Spirit. So could the message be, It is going to be all right no matter what. After my grandson and his family left, I began to think about home and family. Yes, I would like to be home here as long as possible. I have a son that worries about me and checks on me constantly, a daughter that takes me every where I need to go and I love to spend time with her, another daughter that always comes by to see me once a week. I have precious grandchildren, the two youngest have not had children and of course I would love to see my great grandchildren. BUT I have a heavenly home and family is there too, my parents and my two sons, Timothy and Mark who I long to see again plus all of the other family that has gone before me. So, either way, I will be home and I will have family. Praise God

When “It Doesn’t Matter” Actually Matters Deborah Elum, Author, Producer & Songwriter

When I asked Star a simple question, her answer carried a weight I didn’t expect: “It doesn’t matter.” For more than twenty years, Star had been a treasured friend— bold, adventurous, and for the past decade working as a civilian aboard different military ships. Long stretches of silence were normal for us. Her assignments often kept her out of reach, and months would pass without a single text message. This time, it felt different. Eight months had gone by and every text I sent was unanswered. Concern nudged me to try one more time before reaching out to her family. To my surprise, she answered. Her voice was rushed, almost guarded. She told me she had retired—and was now living in Houston. “Houston?” I asked. “How long have you been here?” “That doesn’t matter,” she said. “What matters is that I’m here.” It did matter to me. For years, she had insisted she would never retire in Texas. Yet, as we spoke again a few days later, it became clear she had been in Houston for quite some time—quietly building a life she hadn’t shared with me as her friend. When I tried to schedule a time to meet, she avoided committing. Something had shifted. At first, it felt like she was pulling away from our long-standing friendship. I wrestled with the ache of it, the confusion, and the sense of being left behind. At first, I felt abandoned, but then a surprising clarity began to break through. Sometimes relationships shift because life shifts. Sometimes people move into new seasons that no longer include us in the same way. Biblically, this is called pruning—God removing what cannot remain for the next stage of growth. Jesus said in John 15:1-2 NLT: “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and He prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.” Pruning isn’t punishment. It’s preparation. It’s God shaping us for what’s ahead, even when the process feels like loss. Not every relationship is meant to grow with us forever. That realization, though painful, can also be freeing. God was teaching me to release what no longer fits the season He is shaping in my own life. Pruning is never comfortable but, it is always purposeful. When God removes something—or someone—it is only because He is making room for what will bear fruit in the season to come.

Does God Really Exist? Today the following question was presented to me, “Can you prove to me that God exists? I had to give this some thought but this is the best I could come up with PAhysics cannot prove gravity exists in the same way someone can prove a mathematical equation. What physics does is give us overwhelming evidence through observation testing and repeatable demonstrations. We see the effects of gravity every day and the consequences are undeniable. You can deny gravity all you want but jump off a five-story building and you will soon find out that gravity is not just a theory on paper it is a reality with consequences. In the same way many people believe the evidence for God is seen through creation, human consciousness, morality and the order of the universe. The question is not whether evidence exists, the question is whether someone is willing to recognize and accept it. The difference is discovering gravity after a five-story fall leaves no opportunity to change your mind. Matters of God and eternity are far more important to consider before that moment arrives. As Scripture says, “ today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts” - Hebrews 3:15 The question is not only can you prove God exists, the question is if He does exist, what will you do with that truth ? For some it may be too late but for others you may hear “WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.” Bryon Jeremi LeFort is the Director of Project Management for a global pipe company, bringing over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. In his role, he leads project management initiatives and brings extensive expertise in energy infrastructure, operations, and project execution. Married for 27 years to his wife, Stephanie Lowery LeFort, Bryon is the proud father of boy-girl twins currently in their third year of university. He is an active member of World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he passionately pursues seeking the Kingdom of God, placing his faith in Christ, and striving daily to lay everything at the foot of the cross.

Any parks not listed above that offer small picnic pavilions, picnic tables, or grills are available for use without a reservation on first come, first served basis only during normal park hours

JONES PARK

Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center is a premier 312-acre nature preserve open daily to visitors free of charge. The park features a variety of plant and wildlife species, white sand beaches along Spring Creek, swamps and sloughs with century-old cypress trees, and a pristine floodplain located in a hardwood and pine forest. All features are accessible by over eight miles of paved, handicap-friendly pedestrian trails and several unpaved primitive trails. The Spring Creek Greenway, with over 16 miles of paved trail system along Spring Creek, is also accessible from the park’s Judy Overby Bell Trail and Jones Bender Trail.

The Davy Crockett National Forest The Davy Crockett National Forest, named for the legendary pioneer, contains more than 160,000 acres of East Texas woodlands, streams, recreation areas, and wildlife habitat. Located in Houston and Trinity Counties,

THE 4TH OF JULY IN CROCKETT TEXAS -Joe Martin The 4th celebration was sort of an all day affair here in Crockett Texas. The Moosehead Café had a major celebration party starting at 10:30 am. The Moosehead owner Joni Clonts knows how to do celebrations. The house was packed. Pictured at the 250 year cake table is Owner Joni Clonts in middle, members of the wait staff, Danielle on right Angela on the left. At night time the fire works show commenced at the Crockett Event Center. That lasted nearly an hour. The display was fabulous.

Houston County Museum is located 3 Blocks off of the West side of the Square in Crockett, Tx. We are located in the1909 Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot three blocks West, from the square on First Street. Eliza Bishop the local historian of Houston County, acquired the old Union Pacific Railroad Station for a Museirm. She is also responsible for both of the Historical Homes, Monroe Crook Home and the Downs Aldrich Home, here in Crockett. In 2000 the city helped restore the old depot and in 2005 finished the restoration. The Houston County Board members, city employees and volunteers began to setup the Museum. We house the history of Houston County and the way life was back in the days gone by. We have a military room with memorabilia frorn the Civil War, WWI, and WWII and a love story. We also house a 1928 Seagrave Fire Truck and a 1938 John Deere (Poppin Johnny) Tractor, Ford Model A, head light, and multiple tool and kitchen ware. We invite you to step back in history and experiance days gone by.

According to Joe Martin, Sales & Marketing director of TiMMARK Publications/The whole Kid and Kaboodle, this Museum is a fabulous place to visit. He took his Grandkids to the Museum and he says Dorothy & Patsy held their attention 80% of the time during the tour thru the building, which is incredible. This museum displays so many historical artifacts and Joe recommends a visit to this facility ASAP. Only open on Friday & Saturday 12 noon till 3pm.

Every Thought Counts Sometimes changing our circumstances is not possible.... but we can change our attitude.

There was a time in my life when I would dwell on something negative from my past, regretting something I said, or comparing myself to others, when I realized, I don’t have to think about just anything that comes into my mind. I can choose my thoughts and do my own thinking— on purpose. This revelation came to me while making dinner one night. My granddaughter asked me, “What are you thinking about Grandma?” I had a situation on my mind, and it was distracting me from the conversation she was trying to have with me. And she had noticed it. Immediately, I changed my attitude ... by changing my thinking. I stopped dwelling on something I had no control over and began thinking of all the things I am blessed with. It took less than a minute. Laughter entered our conversation as my mind cleared and I began to focus on the present. Changing your words and thoughts doesn’t come naturally, and it doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it takes a lot of practice. It was one of the beginning of the quotes on my mirror. It has been one of the greatest lessons I have learned in that as you change your thinking, your words will change...and so will your life. When you change your thinking, you change your attitude... When you change your attitude, you change your behavior.... When you change your behavior, you change your life. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Philippians 4:8

Paula Enloe worked as a legal assistant for over 25 years and is a certified family law mediator. She is the author of the book “Lessons From My Mirror - Change Begins With Me.” Paula and her husband Noble, began having Bible Studies in their home when Covid-19 restricted public gatherings in church buildings. When their group began to grow, they founded the Family Worship Center of Plum Grove, Texas. In 2022, they moved into a building but continue to keep the home setting inside with couches, tables and chairs. Their motto is “Doing Church Differently”. They count it as their greatest privilege to share the love of Jesus to each person they come in contact with daily.
