LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello Neighbors, I’m proud to be writing my first President’s letter to you. For those of you who weren’t there or didn’t hear, I was appointed TPOA President at the February 7 TPOA Board meeting. This is really a great time to be taking over as President for a lot of different reasons. The association is in outstanding financial shape with a significant cash balance, a strong reserve fund, and steady and reliable revenue streams. There have been a lot of park amenity upgrades and additions in recent years, and we have more planned, including efforts to move forward with a new clubhouse, park lighting plan, and other shorter-term projects, plus longer-term initiatives that will be outlined in a park master plan that we are currently working on. The concerts and social events get bigger and better every year, and Karen O’Neil and her Social Committee have the best lineup yet planned for this year. Administrative functions have been streamlined and/or implemented to better handle things like Architectural Control Committee processes, deed restriction violations, collections, etc. And of course we have all of this for the annual assessment fee of $217 a year, which has not increased in many years. I’m not aware of a neighborhood anywhere, in San Antonio or anywhere else in the country, that offers so much for that price. Furthermore, this Board has no intent of changing it because there really is no need, and we can still make the investments we have planned without doing so. All of this is thanks in large part to the individuals who have served as President before me. As you know, my immediate predecessor is Scott Myles. Outside of those who have served on the TPOA Board with him and probably his family, I doubt anybody else has any clue about the countless hours he has given over the years to serve this community. Beyond lending his construction experience to help us get projects done in the best and most cost-effective way possible, he has spent untold hours working on the less-visible administrative efforts I mentioned above and other issues. And I am very thankful that he agreed to serve as Vice President of the Board this year. Prior to Scott, Marty Bartlett served as President in a critical time when the association was turned over from developer G.G. Gale, and TPOA essentially had to be built from the ground up. We are also thankful to Marty for moving on to represent our neighborhood and area’s interests as a member of the Comal ISD Board of Trustees. And we have former President Cindy Griffin to thank for her leadership in the lengthy effort to get the association All Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at the turned over from G.G. Gayle, as well as her efforts to help Clubhouse at the Park. negotiate the non-annexation agreement we have with the City of San Antonio.
