. . . WELCOME

Welcome to Dripping I hope you’ll stay awhile, shop and eat with us and explore our rich culture and heritage. Although Dripping Springs is 161 years old, we’re a thriving, young and vibrant community. We have nearly 2,000 residents in our city limits but over 30,000 in the close vicinity that call Dripping Springs their hometown. We pride ourselves on being a closeknit community— a town [LIVI IZIV]SRI WE]W ±LIPPS² EW XLI] TEWW ]SY SR XLI street. We are also located in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Despite this tremendous growth, the core of what makes our town special has only strengthened. If you’ve never visited Dripping Springs, I encourage you to visit the his-

toric Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead, a two-bedroom log cabin built in 1847 that star ted it all. It is also the inspiration for our annual fall event, Pioneer Day (where butter churning, blacksmithing and quilting take center stage). You should also explore our many natural wonders. For instance, Hamilton Pool Preserve, an historic watering hole with one of the most beautiful waterfalls and Golden-Cheeked Warbler habitats, is a must. Other local favorites are the City’s Founders Memorial Park and Charro Ranch Park, by far two of the more memorable places to throw down a blanket, have a picnic, walk, or bird watch. Of course, what’s the Hill Country without an annual fair and rodeo? And we’ve

got one of the best! Our state-of-the-ar t events center at Dripping Springs Ranch Park was just completed last year and has already been booked for more than 200 days this year. Finally, I encourage you to shop locally in one of Dripping Springs’ oldest and most historic areas, Mercer Street. The famous town center is being revitalized with a number of pedestrian-friendly amenities. With a great coffee shop, brew pub, and dance hall, it’s a great place to star t or end your day. Again, welcome to Dripping Springs! We love having you here and hope you enjoy your stay with us. Sincerely, Mayor Todd Purcell

Stay Finding a place to stay in Dripping Springs can be hard only in the sense that it is hard to choose which bed and breakfast you’d like to stay at most. 8LIVI EVI QER] STXMSRW XS ½X IZIV] want and need in Dripping Springs. Some locations offer the solitude of the Texas Hill Country, while conveniently being located right off the highway, like Someplace Special. Someplace Special is a three-bedroom, two bath Texas-style retreat that is artis-

tically decorated on two-and-half acres in the heart of Dripping Springs. Then, there are locations along some of the springs that Dripping has to offer like the Cabin on Barton Creek. Nestled among oaks, walnuts and pecan trees, this cabin is a rustic, charming hide-away above the banks of Barton Creek. If you are looking for something close to what’s happening in town, Homestead might be your choice. Homestead is a charming bed and

breakfast, located in downtown Dripping Springs located near popular local attractions while offering the relaxation and privacy of four acres. It’s also a Texas historical landmark. Mercer Street

Mercer Street was the home of WSQI SJ XLI ½VWX FYWMRIWWIW (VMTping Springs ever had. Most were built from the 1870s to the 1940s, and many of the storefronts have remained unchanged for decades or even a century. Thus, Mercer Street is considered one of the oldest and most historic areas in Dripping Springs. In late 2013, the city began the Mercer Street Improvement Project to improve connectivity, mobility, safety and security, which is in the process of completion. 2,650 feet of sidewalk was added, a pedestrian bridge to cross the dripping springs, crosswalks, bicycle racks, benches, streetlights and historic district monument signs.

Ranch Park

Photos by Janice Smith Located just about a mile and a half from downtown Dripping Springs is the area’s number one event center, Dripping Springs Ranch Park (DSRP). The newly built center of 166,000 square feet is a magnet for visitors from throughout the state. There is something happening nearly every weekend to draw visitors to Dripping Springs and to showcase the areas many activities. There is something both for popular tastes and also events that are unique that cater to even the most selective tastes. Although ag-

ricultural and equine events head the list of events, there is everything from rainwater conservation to corporate events to a wedding extravaganza. There are also musical events, so check the website for current listings. (drippingspringsranchpark.com) If you are in town for a little get-away from the big city or here just to visit, take time to look at the events that are offered and maybe a trip to the DSRP would be a perfect break from the daily grind.
