GERS SAFARIS South Africa is renown for its excellent antelope hunting, and with Julius Gers in the beautiful Northern Cape, you can enjoy this exciting bush adventure at its best.

Gers Safaris lies in the Northern Cape Province, where we only work with one partner. Here you have the opportunity to hunt for around 30 different species of antelopes, including some of the lesser common species such as white blesbok, all 4 types of springboks, Scimitar oryx, tsessebe, sable and roan. Of course, you can also find all the more usual species such as impala, wildebeest, hartebeest, oryx and more.

The farm itself - Klein Papkuil - is 16,000 ha in size, and there is access to an additional area of other 30,000 ha on nearby concessions/districts. The hunting at GERS safaris is definitely not easy - here you will enjoy exciting tracking and stalking on foot through dense bush in rough terrain. The lodge has an informal atmosphere in which guests feel at home from the first moment they arrive.

The farm itself - Klein Papkuil - is 16,000 ha in size, and there is access to an additional area of other 30,000 ha on nearby concessions/districts.

The lodge is placed perfectly in peaceful surroundings. The rooms are comfortable, and all have en-suite facilities. There is also a beautiful garden with a large swimming pool. During 2019, GERS Safaris upgraded their lodge, adding new rooms (= suites) and a new swimming pool. Now the lodge offers 11 rooms and 3 suites.

The food served here is well worth writing home about. Delicately prepared African dishes, where game is often cooked over the glowing ember of the fireplace. The farm is run by Julius and his wife Madelene, and it is a matter of pride for them to ensure their guests enjoy an unforgettable stay here.

As soon as you arrive in the hunting camp, you can sense a really special atmosphere, and you are always made to feel really welcome by the local Zimbabweans who works for Kwalata Safaris. Today, Kwalata Safaris holds the hunting rights to some of the very best hunting districts in Zambia. Kwalata offers outstanding big game- and antelope safaris on five districts in the Luangwa Valley and in Mufunta, on 500,000 ha of land west of the huge Kafue National Park. Additionally, they also offer hunting for swamp dwelling species in the Bangweulu Swamps. When on any of their hunts, you can book an extra day’s hunting to bag a much sought-after Kafue lechwe, which are found on the enormous plains to the west of Lusaka.

The success rate for buffalo is first class and our partner in Mozambique offers an excellent opportunity to experience a traditional buffalo hunt. It is an adventure in itself just to fly to the hunting district in a chartered aircraft, which allows you to see the enormous river delta from above. Hunters visiting the Zambezi Delta are following in the footsteps of legendary big game hunters such as Wally Johnson, Harry Manners and Robert Ruark. The hunting concession is over 135,000 ha in size. Before the civil war, it was home to a buffalo population estimated at 50,000 animals. Now the population stands at 20,000 in Coutada 10, 11, 12, 14, and the Marromeu Game Reserve, which together cover an area of over one million hectares. The goal is to get the population of buffalo up to 40,000 individuals, and they are well on the way. There is certainly enough grass and water for them. The Zambezi Delta is an incredibly diverse biome, offering many different habitat types: huge rivers, swamps, grass-

lands, and forests - and it is because of this diversity that you can find so many different animal species here. This area is probably the only place in the world where you can hunt free-living nyala, sable, and waterbuck, that are still able to gather in large herds, while smaller species such as suni, orbi, red and blue duiker etc. continue to attract more and more attention from hunters visiting here. Naturally, the large areas of natural wetlands that occur here make hunting crocodile into something really special. To get here, you will normally first fly to Johannesburg and then on to Beira. After clearing customs and your weapon declaration, you will then fly from Beira to the hunting district in a small chartered aircraft.

It almost goes without saying that Zimbabwe is one of the biggest and best destinations for big game hunting. Here you can hunt solid, sustainable populations of four members of the Big Five: elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard. We work in partnership with some of the best safari outfitters in this classic hunting destination, which is naturally mirrored in the success of our customers’ hunts.

Individual wild boar hunts Wild boar in Turkey are considerably larger, both in body size and trophy length, than wild boar in Europe. Large boar here can weigh more than 300kg, while the largest wild boar shot here weighed 395kg. Occasionally their tusks can reach a length of 30cm! Our partner can offer a wide range of prime wild boar districts with a combined area of over one million hectares. They mainly lie in Anatolia and close to the Black Sea coast. All are hilly, forested highland districts - typically at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,500m above sea level. Driven Hunts for Wild Boar Over the past few seasons we have organised a number of driven hunts, all producing good results. In Turkey you will not find any fences, so you are guaranteed hunting in open countryside. The hunt itself will be carried out either in Anatolia close to Konya or close to the Black Sea coast near the town of Tokat. Although, as previously mentioned,

the population of wild boar in Turkey is very good, you should not count on shooting as many boar as you might be used to on a good driven hunt in Poland or Hungary. However the percentage of large boar shot will be much higher, on some hunts 40% of the boars shot are of a very impressive size. No supplement will be charged for these huge “keilers”, all wild boar regardless of their size are included in the price. Bezoar Ibex Do you enjoy hunting in the mountains? If so this challenging hunt for the largest ibex of them all - the bezoar Ibex - will certainly appeal to you! Typically a large buck will carry a trophy that could measure somewhere from 90cm and up to 135cm. Turkey is one of the very few countries where you can hunt bezoar ibex, and our partner has access to first class concessions both in Antalya and eastern Turkey.

Hunt in Slovakia work together with some of Slovakia’s best private hunting districts. They do a lot of preparatory work which ensures they can always offer visiting hunters the best, carefully selected, hunting districts.

Slovakia is often overlooked as a hunting destination by many people. This is a pity as it offers some very well organised hunts for most of the well-known European game species. The feedback from our hunters visiting here has been fantastic. They have given reports of large populations of game, beautiful hunting districts and impressive trophies. Hunt in Slovakia specializes in driven hunts but can also offer some very good hunts for mouflon, red stags and fallow bucks, all with the chance of bagging a very good trophy, and of course hind stalking. Driven Hunts In Slovakia driven hunts are normally arranged for large groups of min. 17 - 25 hunters. They are often remarkable

for their beautiful, and very varied, parades which can include a good variety of wild boar, red deer, fallow deer, fox and even mouflon - all depending on the district which you are hunting in. All driven hunts are arranged in nonfenced districts of between 1,500 and 8,000 hectares. Typically you will hunt on a new district every day with fresh beaters and dogs. The day will consist of 2 - 4 large drives, which moves the game and presses them towards the line of guns. Please note that in Slovakia it is not allowed to shoot antler bearing game on driven hunts. Hunters are accommodated in charming hotels/guesthouses, depending on the size of the group. Your hosts will make sure you enjoy festive evenings and good food from the rich traditions of Slovakia’s local cuisine.

Red- and fallow deer hunts Hunts for red stag and fallow bucks are organised during their ruts, in September and October respectively. There is a very good chance of shooting an excellent trophy during the rutting season here. Hunt in Slovakia can offer hunting in some of the country’s best districts for red stag and fallow buck. It is possible to find some very impressive red stags, trophies of up to 8 - 11 kg are not unrealistic. Also the fallow bucks are huge in these areas and it is possible to bag a really good trophy of between 4 -5 kg! In 2022 a really impressive fallow buck with a trophy weight of 6kg was taken here.

Mouflon Mouflon hunts can be arranged from mid-October to the end of February. Mouflon is hunted in hilly terrain, which often makes the hunt very challenging. It is possible to combine this hunt with hunting for wild boar and hind stalking. We should also mention that the trophy fees for mouflon rams are very favourable in Slovakia.

One of the most reputable hunt organizers in Asia, Anna has an in-depth knowledge of all the many different hunts offered by the Stalker group.

Hunting takes place in the most inaccessible districts imaginable, thus avoiding any hunting pressure from local hunters. Therefore you must be prepared to spend a lot of time travelling before you finally reach your hunting district. You will hunt in districts with no roads, which means horses are the best means of transport in this huge wilderness. Hunting methods can vary greatly, depending on the terrain, the game and the season you are hunting in.

Experience hunting for large Siberian roebucks in northern Kazakhstan. The Kustanai hunting district delivers impressive, world class trophies, and is considered today to be one of the best districts in Asia for Siberian roebucks. Here you can find the opportunity to shoot a really good buck, with a trophy weight of over 1kg. If your trophy collection is missing a big roebuck, we recommend that you travel with us to Kazakhstan and hunt for one of these magnificent animals. Twin sisters Trine & Rikke have both been educated, and worked as, hunting guides in Canada. They have also hunted in many other parts of the world. They were born and raised with hunting and nature in their blood. They were first taught about outdoors life in the best way possible - by their grandfather and father, who are both qualified gamekeepers and passionated hunters. If you dream of a hunting trip where you take part in every aspect of the hunt, you have come to the right place. You can even bring the family, your partner or your friends as this kind of hunt has a very wide appeal. Fallow buck hunts: Generally the fallow deer populations in Poland are good, and trophy quality is getting better and better. This is why Poland’s 11th largest fallow deer ever, with a whopping 4.23kg trophy weight, was shot in October 2019 on one of our districts. In Poland fallow deer is only hunted in

Hunters who enjoy hind stalking are more than welcome on the district’s, naturally they will enjoy a level of service identical to that given to trophy hunters. It is often possible to combine hind stalking with a trophy hunt for red stag.

If you are, first and foremost, looking to experience as much hunting as you can for the least amount of money, then Poland’s autumn hunts for hind and calves could be the perfect hunting trip for you. Hunting for hinds, which are often more wary and alert than the males is at least as challenging as a trophy hunt. Mouflon hunts: Mouflon were first introduced into the mountainous regions of southwest Poland back in 1902. Today they are amongst the best wild populations in Europe. Stalking in to shooting range of a good mouflon ram is a hunting chal lenge that can be rewarded by one of Europe’s most handsome trophies. We have the possibility of offering a complete mouflon package on our districts in southwest Poland in the period between 1st October and 28th February. Combination hunts: On some of our districts in Poland we offer our popular combination hunts during the months of autumn and winter. These are arranged for small groups of between 5 - 7 hunters and normally last 3 days. Small-driven hunts are carried

out in the mornings, until around 12.30, then after lunch hunting continues with individual stalking for hinds, calves and wild boars. Driven hunts: For many hunters Poland is closely linked to their annual driven hunt. Driven hunting is usually carried out over 3 days for groups of between 12 - 16 hunters. Every day offers different drives and lunch in the forest. Allowable game is usually all wild boar plus the hind/does and calves. Unfortunately, in recent years, the size of the wild boar population has decreased in numbers because of the spread of ASF. This has resulted in far fewer driven hunts being offered, and that you can no longer expect very large number of wild boars.

We have organized hunting in Hungary with great success together with our long standing partner Attila. After working for many years in the business Attila’s knowledge and personal network in the Hungarian hunting community is second to none. Attila will normally be the one meeting our hunters from the airport when they land in Hungary, and making sure they are safely transferred to the hunting district.

Hungary has always been a country with a solid European hunting tradition. Hunting in Hungary is absolutely second to none, and if you are looking to add a really good trophy to your collection, you should definitely consider joining us on a trip to Hungary. Red stag hunting A high rate of success and really excellent trophies, in Hungary red stag trophies of over 16 kg have been taken. While on the best districts, the average trophy weight for rutting stags is normally between 7 - 12kg. To make it really clear, this is the place to go if you are looking for a really good trophy. As you might expect, huge Hungarian stag trophies are much in demand from hunters all around Europe. However, in Hungary they do operate with a unique system that ensures that a hunter only has to pay for his trophy if it falls within a range of +/- 15% of the size agreed upon in advance. It is your hunting guides responsibility to assess a stag’s trophy size to be within this margin. So, if you dream trophy is a red stag of above 10kg, Hungary will give you your best chance of success.

Hungarian driven hunts are some of the best in the world. Groups of 10 - 12 hunters can expect, under normal conditions, to shoot between 50 - 60 head of different game during a 3-day driven hunt - naturally depending on the weather and the hunters of the group. Spain is an exclusive and absolutely fascinating hunting destination. Here you can find not only an exciting range of game species, some of which you can only hunt for in Spain, but also really fantastic countryside and a centuries-old hunting tradition. Hunting for the Spanish Ibex The Gredos ibex is the biggest of the 4 Spanish sub-species and is found in the Gredos mountains southwest of Madrid. In the Beciete Mountains, which are near the east coast of Spain, you can hunt another of the Spanish ibex, namely the Beciete ibex. This sub-species is highly sought after because of its long, spreading, palm like horns. In southern Spain you can hunt for the Sierra Nevada and the somewhat smaller Ronda ibex. Both of these sub-species are smaller in size than the Gredos and Beceite ibex, but this does not make the hunt any less exciting. Even though France is one of the world’s major tourist destinations, hunting has never really been offered to foreign hunters. We are therefore happy to be able to offer hunting in a number of different locations in this beautiful country. France can also offer a wealth of other wonderful attractions which makes it an ideal destination for the rest of the family. Here you can combine top quality hunting for chamois, roebuck and red stags with French culture, gastronomy, wine and nature. Over the last 10 seasons we have had a growing number of hunters on our roebuck districts in France, and the results have been extremely satisfying. Returning hunters have reported a dense population of old, mature bucks, good trophies, well organized hunting in very beautiful,

Roebuck hunts South England is renowned for its large roebucks. This is largely due to the whole population of roe deer being outstanding because of the classic biotope they live in - large open fields, broken up by hedgerows and small woods - an ideal habitat for roe deers. At the same time the price levels here are very competitive, the cost of really top-class trophies is often significantly lower than elsewhere in Europe. We can offer some particularly good roebuck hunts on a number of different districts in the south of England which, ever year, deliver many medal roebucks, a large proportion being of the most precious metal.

England is home to large populations of both muntjac and Chinese Water Deer (CWD) which were originally introduced from the English colonies in Asia to a number of animal parks in England. Stag hunting in the Scottish Highlands Have you ever shot a roaring stag, surrounded by its harem of hinds, on the top of a heather clad hill during the midst of an intense rut? If you haven’t , then there is a serious gap in your “hunting education” and you really owe yourself the chance to do something about it - luckily we are here to help you! Hunting in Scotland is an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime! Stag hunts in Scottish Highlands take place during the rut in September - October. It is difficult to describe the experience in words - you must feel the experience in your own body. It isn’t going too far to say that a Scottish stag hunt is an absolute classic European hunt! Two hunters usually hunt together with one stalker - a local hunting guide who will know the district like the back of his own hand. You will both shoot, which allows both hunters to share the whole experience. Another member of the hunting team will be the so-called ponyman, who is responsible for transporting the dead stag off the hill on horseback, or a four wheeled ATV. Hunters should be aware that this hunt is not a trophy hunt as you may have experienced in Eastern Europe. You are simply taking part in carrying out the district’s selective shooting policy. We can offer a number of good districts in the highlands of which some are more physical-

ly challenging than others, but on a hunt in the highlands getting your stag is never an easy “walk in the park”. The hunting in Scotland is very professionally organized and the stalkers (hunting guides) extremely competent. Roughshooting Scotland has a long hunting tradition and can offer a broad range of different types of hunting. One of the most traditional is “rough shooting” or “walking -up” where the fun and camaraderie is the name of the game. You will hunt over beautiful countryside with varied terrain, the focus on hunting for different game species and not necessarily just the amount of game you shoot. If wind, weather and everything else goes to plan, as a rule you can expect between 8 - 11 head of game per hunter in a group of 4 - 6 hunters. The Emerald Isle - Ireland - is famous around the world for its warm and welcoming people, its wonderful pubs, traditional music, and its beautiful, verdant scenery. In the rifle hunting community it is also famous for a particular inhabitant - the sika stag - good populations of which can be found many places in Ireland Sika stag hunts The sika stag is hunted during the autumn’s rut over both heather clad highlands and the dense valley forests, so you will need to be in reasonably good condition. It often seems as if sika stags appear from nowhere then quickly disappear again, because of this local hunter often refer to them as “the black ghost”. The rutting season, which occurs in September/October, last longer than that of most deer species and offers the chance of experiencing some really intense hunting. Unlike our other species of large deer sika stags do not roar - they whistle. The grand old stags can only be found in the faint light of the dawn and again at dusk, just before darkness falls. In the beautiful countryside of County Kerry we can offer fantastic hunting for both sika and wild goats. Hunters will

Finland is the only country in Europe where it is possible to hunt whitetail deer in the open countryside. Our hunters stay in a 4-star hotel around a 15 min. drive from the hunting district.

The hunting district is found in a really beautiful part of southern Finland, approx. 120km northwest of Helsinki. The district consists of many areas of wetland, large parcels of forest and farmland. It is home not only to a really good population of whitetail, but also moose and roe deer. Additionally, a suitable number of partridges, pheasants and ducks are released here every year. The hunting for whitetail deer is particularly good here, because there has been no hunting for whitetail for 3 years. This resulted in the population multiplying in size and a clearly noticeable improvement in trophy quality. The hunt for whitetail is early morning and evening

THE NORTH AMERICAN WILDERNESS

North America has always been an almost legendary destination for hunters who love nature at its wildest. The harsh, inaccessible nature of the land has ensured that a large part of the country has never been densely populated outside of the larger towns. This is also why you can still find healthy populations of all native species. Many outfitters hunt in the most inaccessible districts, as they prefer to avoid any hunting pressure from local hunters. This often involves using either horses or bush-aircraft to both reach the district and as transport during the hunt. There are practically no roads in the areas they hunt, which makes horses the most practical means of transport in these large areas of wilderness. However, if there is road access, pick-up trucks, 4x4s or ATVs will be used. In areas with a lot of lakes and rivers, boats are used for getting around. Snowmobiles will be used if the hunter takes place in winter conditions. The hunting method employed is very dependent on the terrain, the game targeted, and the season of the year. The hunting method can be classical waiting for black bear or wolf, but more normally it will be carried out as “spot and stalk”. Winter hunts for puma and lynx is carried

out using dogs. Hunting for large moose takes place during the rutting season, when you attempt to “call-up” the big bulls. It is possible to bring your own hunting rifle to Canada, you simply need to have a Canadian weapons-import permit, which is a declaration you make in the airport when you arrive in Canada. Diana will be happy to help with the preparation for this. Many partners also offer hunters the possibility of hiring a rifle on site. Climate and weather The weather in Canada can be very changeable, rain, storms, snow and sunshine are all possible.
