Nine01 Reveals a Valentine's Unlike Any Other

Mon, 02 Feb 2026 01:17:50 GMT

Atucked-awaybaratHyattCentricLasOlasinvitesgueststolingerover cocktails,thoughtfulprompts,andhandwrittenlovelettersinanintimate, candlelitsetting.

This Valentine's season, Room Nine01 reveals a quieter, more considered kind of romance. Within a low-lit, tucked-away bar at Hyatt Centric Las Olas, deep reds and muted blush tones mingle with candlelight, crafting a space that feels private, deliberate, and unhurried.

Cocktails and small bites arrive like punctuation in a conversation, each inspired by the defining moments of a love story—from the spark of a first glance to the quiet familiarity that follows. Thoughtful card prompts rest on tables, inviting reflection and dialogue without insistence, opening pathways to connection.

At a moment marked only by the soft glow of candlelight, guests are encouraged to write love letters by hand, transforming words into something intimate, tangible, and fleeting. Time slows. Presence takes precedence. The rare permission to linger shapes the night.

At Nine01, Valentine's is experienced, not exhibited.

For those seeking a cozy, romantic escape, Room Nine01 is located inside Hyatt Centric Las Olas at 333 SE 2nd Ave, Fort Lauderdale.

4 best areas to stay in Fort Lauderdale to get a real feel for the city

Fort Lauderdale is my happy place. I’ve been romping on the golden beaches and diving into the warm Atlantic waters since I was a small child visiting my “snowbird” grandparents for winter breaks. I returned as a teen for the beach scene, as a young adult for the nightlife, and now as an adult with my own kids. And I’m happy to report that Fort Lauderdale is so much more than a spring break stereotype, and there’s much to see and do—both on the sand and off in spots like Las Olas and Riverwalk. I could fill weeks with no repeats.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time, planning a family getaway, or simply chasing the perfect stretch of sand, there’s a perfect Fort Lauderdale neighborhood for you.

Las Olas Boulevard Best for: first-time visitors

If it’s your first time in Fort Lauderdale, buzzy Las Olas is where you want to be. This downtown district gives you a little bit of everything: shopping, dining, nightlife, and easy access to both the beach and the Intracoastal Waterway. And I love that it's a spot where you park the car and explore on foot since the whole stretch is designed for walkability (not always a given in Southern Florida).

Las Olas Boulevard itself is the star of the show, lined with galleries, boutiques, cocktail bars, and some of the city’s best restaurants. (One great stop for shopping: the Las Olas Kollective, a sprawling gallery full of cool finds.) You’re also close to the Riverwalk, the city’s arts and entertainment district, where you can stroll along the New River and then catch a performance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Where to stay: The Hyatt Centric Las Olas has sleek, contemporary rooms; a rooftop pool with a bar; and a central location that’s ideal for newbies who want to explore on foot.

Where to eat: Louie Bossi’s Ristorante is the spot for Italian favorites, including house-made pastas and wood-fired pizzas. For a date night, Wild Sea Las Olas delivers fresh seafood in an upscale setting; I like to indulge in the seafood towers and oysters, which never disappoint.

Where to go for the perfect Instagram shot: Head to the Riverwalk and the 30foot-high Thrive sculpture of a woman opening her chest to reveal a fern-lined passageway. At night, it’s lit from within to create the perfect photo op.

21 Secret Bars Of South Florida

Restaurant News | February 23,2026

Hidden Speakeasies From West Palm Beach To Key Largo

When alcohol was outlawed in the U.S. from 1920 to 1933 under Prohibition, resourceful bar owners carved out clandestine spaces that would become known as speakeasies. Hidden in basements, behind unmarked doors and inside back rooms, these covert watering holes survived on secrecy — whispered passwords, trusted regulars and, at times, occasional bribes to stay open. The term is thought to have come from the warning to “speak easy” and keep the bar’s existence quiet.

Despite operating outside the law, speakeasies quickly evolved into lively social hubs. When Prohibition was repealed, traditional speakeasies faded, but their appeal and their influence on cocktail culture never fully disappeared.

Today’s speakeasy-style bars revive the mystique with hidden entrances, vintage aesthetics and a focus on craft cocktails, celebrating the rebellious spirit and creativity that made the originals so iconic. The danger may be long gone, but the thrill of discovery — and the romance of a bygone era — continue to influence modern bar culture.

We uncovered 21 speakeasies across South Florida — hidden inside restaurants, behind unmarked doors and, in some cases, accessible to only those with the right password.
