Planned ferry wharf upgrade costed at $10 million A $10 million replacement of Pier 2 at Devonport Wharf is planned by Auckland Transport (AT) – subject to funding. Already budgeted are complementary works of $2-2.5 million, AT confirmed. These include: • Replacement of the existing wooden
stairs from the wharf to the beach. • Reinforcement and renewal of the under-wharf structure. • Roof repairs and ceiling renewal. • A new main switchboard, and refurbishment of the communications room. Most of the works will begin in the 2026
financial year and be completed in the 2027 financial year. AT said the work was part of an ongoing programme at the ferry terminal to replace infrastructure that had “reached the end of its design life or is no longer fit for purpose.” To page 13
