Skatepark costs hit $100K before ground broken More than $100,000 has been spent on consultants’ fees and other costs related to a new skatepark at Woodall Park – with actual construction work yet to start. Much of the cost is associated with plans – since abandoned – for a “destination” skatepark on green space at the park. The concept was dropped after the dis-

covery last December that the facility was not allowed under the park’s 1997 reserve management plan. The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board has since opted for a scaled-back facility on part of the concrete tennis courts next to Devonport Squash club. An Official Information Act request by the

Flagstaff revealed a breakdown of costs related to the skatepark so far. They included: • Bespoke Landscape Architects, $10,000; network analysis and schematic concept. • Rich Landscapes, $20,780; updated 2D renders, concept design. • CKL Surveys Limited, $5000; ground To page 2 survey.
