New role created to help tackle family violence on Shore A new North Shore anti-family-violence facilitator will start work in two weeks. The facilitator will aim to ensure that community organisations, government agencies and police work together more effectively to support individuals and families experiencing family violence and high-risk family harm.
The safety assessment meeting facilitator role will be funded by New Zealand Police National Headquarters and hosted by Auckland North Community and Development (ANCAD). Creation of the role recognises that community organisations are often the first point of contact for vulnerable families and
have insights that can help keep people safe. Safety assessment meetings act as multi-agency forums that bring together police, government agencies, and specialist service providers to assess risk and coordinate responses to family violence. The head of the North Shore family To page 6
