The DSO is proudly one of the few major American orchestras to present regular jazz programming on its main stage. The series is named after the Paradise Theatre, the historic Detroit jazz venue that was on the site of Orchestra Hall from 1941-51.

Through our Civic Youth Ensembles (CYE), we nurture the next generation of musicians, offering students of all ages an unparalleled music education experience. From their first note to their final bow on the historic Orchestra Hall stage, CYE students gain life-changing opportunities learning from masterful conductors, honing their craft, and developing invaluable life skills like discipline, teamwork, and confidence.

Detroit Harmony, a citywide initiative led by the DSO, supports musical connections with young people in Detroit through access to instruments and musical instruction for every Detroit student who has a desire to grow in music.
Detroit Harmony stems from the rich musical history of Detroit. We celebrate this musical heritage by working alongside students to shape and strengthen a vibrant cultural ecosystem for today’s youth and for young people in the future.
