It’s a hot topic – pun intended – that is heating up the airwaves and internet more every day. As a result, there is powerful and emerging “green collar” workforce that includes numerous jobs and careers dedicated to sustainability and the improvement of our little corner of the universe.

Veggie Burgers INGREDIENTS 1 can

Chickpeas

1 tbl

Chili powder

1 cup

Frozen whole kernel corn

2 cloves Garlic, peeled

Large egg

6 tbl

Extra virgin olive oil, divided

3 tbl

Chopped cilantro

Whole grain hamburger buns

1 can

Black beans

2 cups

Panko breadcrumbs

DIRECTIONS Place breadcrumbs, beans, chickpeas, corn, egg, cilantro, sweet chili sauce, chili powder and garlic in food processor; cover. Process until well combined, scraping down sides as needed. Scoop about 1/3 cup bean mixture and use hands to form into a patty. Repeat with remaining mixture to make 8 patties total. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties, 2 to 3 at a time, for 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Add more oil with each batch.
