ant your home to be the most fashionable, up-to-date place on the block? It might help to pay attention to the trends spotted at this year’s fall fashion week. Designers from Gucci to Stella McCartney showed off their top trends on the catwalk. Will these looks spill over from the pages of Vogue into the world of interior design? And if so, what trends should stylish homeowners be copying and which should they pass on? Here’s a sneak peek at everything in style this season.

Step Up Your Storage

Things to do in Manchester Manchester offers a unique blend of New England charm, style, arts & culture, and is a popular fourseason tourist destination for Vermont vacations. The area offers exquisite Vermont fall foliage. In 2010, Yankee Magazine listed several Vermont towns in their slideshow of “Top 25 Foliage Towns in New England,” including the Southwestern Vermont town of Manchester. Enjoy challenging golf and legendary fly fishing during the warmer months, skiing during the winter at nearby Stratton Mountain Resort or Bromley Mountain, and the Manchester Designer Outlets along with many locally owned businesses offer plenty of things to do in Manchester all year. For oenophiles, turn this space into an easy to build wine rack. Or create a cozy reading nook, with a comfy chair tucked at the bottom of the stairs and shelves filled with your and your kids’ favorite books. The space can also be a perfect spot to place a desk to have an out of the way workplace for you or your kids to study. Of course, if you have a larger staircase, you can actually have an entire walk-in under your stairs, perfect for hanging hooks for coats, extra shoe storage, and even such things as gifts, gift wrap, and projects such as scrap books and photo albums. The fashion trends included bright pinks and yellows paired with neutral grays, tans, and dark blues to tone the look down. This is a great style to steal for teen bedrooms, where balancing the hot colors can be a major plus for parents. A few other patterns and prints that may find their from the closet to your couch: bold winter florals, brocades, winter creams, velvets, and lots of shiny fabrics. Touches of faux-fur and shearling were also hot, lending itself to throw pillows and bedding at home. Whether you’re a trendsetter or just curious about the latest looks, fashion on the runway almost always influences the world of interior design. Our take: Borrow any elements you like and work them into your current designs but leave the rest on the runway.

Manchester, Vermont is a historic town located at the foot of Mount Equinox along Route 7, and is one of two shire towns (county seats) of Bennington County. Manchester Village and Manchester Center are settlement centers within the town. Manchester Village offers a tranquil old-world atmosphere, and Manchester Center is a shopper’s paradise!

One of the top trends spotted on models this season? Everything 70s. From bell-bottoms and high turtlenecks to denim and clingy knits, the looks screamed Saturday Night Fever. Patchwork patterns were also seen popping up in dresses and jean skirts. How will the boho look translate into the home? Look for laidback, uncluttered designs and furniture with a modern edge. The feel is decidedly unfussy, with a stark and youthful vibe.

INGREDIENTS 4 ea 1½ tsp 1/4 tsp 1/8 tsp

Bosc pears extra virgin olive oil Kosher salt fresh ground pepper

DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 400°. Wash pears and cut them in half and pat dry. Toss pears with olive oil and salt and pepper in bowl. Lay pears on baking dish skin-side down, cut-side up. Roast pears in 400º oven for 15 minutes the rotate tray. Continue cooking 15 minutes until soft and caramelized. Top with chutney or cranberry relish for added holiday touch. Serves 4 DID YOU KNOW?! There are over 3,000 known pear varieties grown around the world, but only a handful of heirloom varieties have been carefully cultivated into the juicy, delicious fruit known as the Northwest-grown USA Pears.
